    When I got my first job in the hospital 80% of my work floor got scabies. This patient had some rare African variant of scabies that was not diagnosed as scabies soon enough and she had been on 3 different floors and X-ray. Needless to say it was a ROUGH time. I still itch whenever someone even mentions the word. Just like I did your whole video 😅

  • @arastain845

    @arastain845

    Жыл бұрын

    @@keevoj5509What this short doesn't tell you is that the permethrin is a cream that has to get applied on the total body surface. Sometimes even this cream can be ineffective, in that case an ivermectin therapy can be prescripted by the doctor. I've got scabies a few months ago and got treated with ivermectin, the itch persisted for a few months after the death of the mices, but it did worked. I suggest to consult your doctor about this therapy. Also, be sure to sanitize every plush, pillow, bed and blanket. Every tissue can be infected and be the home of new mices that can get back on your skin and ruin your healing. As long as even one mite gets on your skin you still got scabies. To sanitize them, you can use permethrin sprays (toxic for human skin but perfect to kill the mites that lay on the tissues) and close them in a plastic bag for two weeks. The mices feed on human skin, they can't survive that long without eating from you, plus the permethrin spray should kill most of them). Hope these advices will help you. Make sure to use gloves to not touch any infected surface. To maximize the healing process, I suggest to take a shower everyday and to use a max of two outfits, to wear one while the other gets cleaned in the washing machine. Almost forgot: every clothing must be washed at 90°C to kill the mices that infected them.

    I have been a CNA for thirty years and never got it, until I started a new job at this nursing home where they were gaslighting and denying it. Everybody had it, all staff too. One patient had crusted scabies, they did not diagnose her in the hospital either. After 3 months I finally quit, sick and desperate. If you never had it before the incubation period is 6 weeks. It was very traumatic, also because the doctor gave me the wrong dose of ivermectin, 1/3 the dose I needed. At another job I met somebody who told me he used to work there twenty years prior, and they had it then, he got it.

    One time they had to quarantine a whole ward because a patient had scabies. He wasn't homeless,but came in from a hoarder house due to failure to thrive. One of the PT s got it and had to stay home. You can see the bites are in a track. They crawl to your groin and armpits. He has to quarantine at home and slather with that permethrin . My co-worker said that was the worst week of his life.

    My grandma was in the hospital before she died, supposedly with severe psoriasis. Then two days later they said "Oops, that's scabies, mfs!" - the entire staff on the ward and the entire family had been infected. Rubbed twice with this disgusting cream, all used textiles needed to be packed airtight for two weeks, every day I had to clean the apartment like crazy and wash bedding and clothes daily and that for a total of three weeks and got an infection from scratching on a leg. In Germany pills had been approved shortly before (Ivermectin) and I still needed them until it finally stopped. For three months I still had strong itching, although nothing was there anymore. The skin has been ruined since then. It was a bit embarrassing to have to tell everyone in my immediate circle of friends that they should check themselves for scabies. This was really a nightmare and I am stratching myself rn because I think about scabies 🙈

    Never underestimate scabies, it’s really itchy and children are highly susceptible to getting infected. It takes weeks to ensure the mites are gone and even then reinfection is common. You have to sanitize your home and clothing before even considering being done with scabies. Fortunately permethrin cream does a really good job, unfortunately you’re going to have to seal off or clean your entire house to makes sure those mites don’t have any contact with human skin in the course of couple of days so they starve to death.

    I’m familiar with scabies. My uncle got them from a friend, then they traveled to my sister, to me, then my mother. They tended to dig into my skin near my knuckles and in between my fingers and on my forearms. My mom took my sister & I to the doctors, they did some tests and, sure enough, we all had scabies! They gave us a cream to put on our skin to kill them. It worked, and they all started dying, but you could feel them burrowing deeper into your skin to get away from the cream. It was terrible and itchy, I hope I never get scabies again!

    Surprisingly, the only thing I’ve seen to work is “Aquaphor”. Idk what it is but they die from it. You can get it with no prescription. Extra strength is better if you have severe itching. You just rub a good amount on the affected area and surrounding area. Rub it in well and let it sit. If you rub long enough you can fill them come out (feels like grains of sand). Try not to scratch. Don’t over rub because you can irritate the skin and cause swelling. If you have light skin you will be able to see them (they look like specks of pepper). Reapply when needed. When you take a shower; scrub with a washcloth to remove excess dead mites. Put another coat on after the shower. Only wear clothing/ undergarments that have been previously cleaned. Wash all clothing and bedding in hot water. Continue to apply the “Aquaphor” for about a week after the area has cleared to ensure the mites aren’t coming back. I would wash all bedding the day you start so you can have a clean start and no chance of recontamination. I really hope this can help anyone suffering from this. I know how terrible and frustrating it is!! 🙏🏽❤️

    Don’t worry, scabies is really hard to get unless you A: dont clean yourself regularly B: around someone who has them (you’ll know when someone has them they tend to itch their arms and neck the most) C:And also being around someone who doesn’t clean theirselves regularly as well

    Omg, I remember this time a patient came into the ER with bed bugs EVERYWHERE. I had to take him to the showers and stuff. On my drive home from work, I felt an itch on my neck and scratched, but for some reason, I put my hand back on my neck and just felt around; HONEY, there was a WHOLE bedbug in my hair on my neck. I lost my shit!!! Worst experience ever.

    @Ali I'd say if you're still itching even hours after watching the video, do some research and be sure you might have them. If you're living with your parents tell them your symptoms. If this itching keeps on happening I'd just suggest going to the hospital :)

    If you did have it, you would be scratching your skin to the point of bleeding,as well (as the video said) not being able to sit still or sleep. So if it mild to just nervous itching it's highly likely Psychosomatic or some other skin condition.
