I currently work as a medical assistant scribe in a hospital here in FL and I am trying to move to the side of billing and coding and by checking upon the current oportunities they do hire CPC-A so that is very encouraging for me; I am sure there are other companies accepting the apprentice status; thank you for all your videos; you are greatly helping me in this journey

Thank you. Probably the most frustrating thing I find is a lot of people won't even consider a new coder. I had an interview set up for today and she had my resume' so when she asked me how long I had been coding and I told her I was newly certified it ended there. I do have an interview Wednesday for Revenue Integrity and hope the outcome will be better. The other hard part for me is the starting salaries on many positions is a lot lower than I make now but I am self supporting and can't take a huge cut in pay. I would be willing to do part time work on weekends or evenings for the experience even if the pay was low but that is hard to find too.

Hello, I just passed my CPC exam about 1 week ago, when i purchased my training course i also paid for the practicode which i am starting on now. I am currently working from home but not within the coding field, my issue is since i am a mom of two at this time its not affordable for me to go out and work for and office, i have found some jobs that i would like to apply but with my kids i can't. What would be my best option, should i focus on the practicode? I know i wont be able to start as a coder, which im ok with, I would rather start small and work my way up but is there places that hire work from home? Obviously not medical coding or billing

What if you already had the coding experience without the certification and then ended up getting the certification? Is it possible to just have your doctor write you a letter signed and submitted to the aapc to have the a removed?

hello! I'm interested in the contact hours that are needed to remove one year. Is there a link where I can see qualified classes I can sign up for?

A lot of information I'm seeing a year later says that taking the course via AAPC should count towards the 1 year. Is this still accurate? So do the training via their classes on AAPC for CPC as well as Practicode?

I am seeking a coding career. I am going with AAPC. I am trying to decide between the CPC/CPB bundle or just the CPC. Which would you recommend? I am looking to work remotely from home as I homeschool my son and would also like to eventually help out financially.

I recently passed my CPC exam… thanks to your helpful videos!! I had worked with coding and billing for 5 years with my previous employer, does that count? Or would it count AFTER I passed my exam?

Does the need for CPU's start as soon as you pass the exam? If you do some CEU's before you pass the exam do they still count if they are within the same calendar year?

Your CEU due date is 2 years after you pass the exam. You can only earn CEUs for sessions that you took after your certification date.

Do cpc-a’s get paid less than cpcs?

I agree! AAPC is more involved in Profee coding.

Can you attend meetings for multiple chapters? I live in close proximity to two and since I just got my CPC-A it seems like a good idea not only for CEUs but for networking.

One more thing that I would love to see would be typical questions nee coders may get in an interview that would be different from. Any other job. Do they ask you specific coding questions? There is so.much to know and I don't want to sound dumb.

How do you add the updates and technical changes that were released by the AAPC to your CPT book? We can't use post-its or any kind of added papers, so do we write it on a blankish page and put a not in the right area to reference that page?

The AAPC exams are updated Jan 1 and not touched again for a year, so you will not be tested on any information in the technical corrections that came out in March. You can write some information in your books if you like.

The closest you'll find it the Step-by-Step Medical Coding books but they only have half the answers.

Hi Viktoria I’m set to take my CPC at the end of this month and I’m going over the AAAPC practice test.. I got this question on anesthesia and it lists modifier QS and G9. Where in the CPC book would I find those modifiers? I can’t seem to find it in CPC book. Am I missing something??

Hey Victoria🥰 what if we went to school and got a certificate? Does that remove 1 year from the apprentice?? I went to school and got my certificate back in 2006, I hadnt gotten my CPC until April this year, I wanted to know if because I did go to school for medical billing and coding if that removes 1 year from the apprentice status??😁🎂

It has to quantify that it was at least 80 hours of education. This is what it states on the AAPC website, "Send proof of education in the form of a letter from an instructor on school letterhead stating you have completed 80 or more contact hours, a certificate/diploma stating at least 80 contact hours, or an unofficial school transcript."

Thanks so much for the video! I just passed my CPC-A this past April! I am also an LPN. I have been applying for work from home coding positions for a few weeks. I just heard back from a coding company a few days ago. They sent me a link to take an assessment for a Pro fee coding position which I took yesterday. The test was not timed. The recruiter said the test would take me about an hour, but I went way over that as I am new! lol I think I passed the test, but haven't heard back from the company yet. Since they sent me the assessment link does this mean they are looking at me as a possible candidate for position? Is Pro fee coding a good entry level coding position?? Thanks!

Hey I’m going to back to school to prepare me for my CCA exam. I’m going to get a new laptop because I do plan on working both at home and in a office. Desktops are out of the option because I don’t have the room for it. Is there any possible chance you can make an video about what laptops are the best and what should be considered when buying an laptop and what is essential for medical coding?

@@ContempoCoding honestly as someone who was in IT for three years in high school, you would only need someone who knows what brands are good and what brands to avoid. That’s it. And I can already tell you at least two brands to avoid in general. You can also go into a store that sells desktops and laptops and tell them the essentials you need and they will tell you ideally what you should get. And you can also write them down and tell us in the video without that expert. Each career field is different and it really the person who’s in that field knows what they need in computers. Obviously with medical coding, you need a computer that runs an windows operating system but if you edit music or video, an apple that runs an iOS program is the best.

I don't believe the CPC certification is intended for use outside of the U.S. since other countries use different version of ICD-10, but you might find more information on the AAPC Global website.
