    I love chickens so much! We have a couple girls (maybe 10-15) and 3 Roos. Their all separated and one of our roosters gets so excited to see his girls! The hens are so sweet, they will follow me around and ask for food. Chickens are such a underrated birds, I think most people don’t get to know them enough to see their personalities!

    I shouldn’t watch this because its tempting....Serama chicks need to come with a warning: they are addictive! You will want more, and broody serama mums will be all too happy to oblige! They are so tiny and trusting and just as wonderful when they are all grown up. Such a wonderful moment when you first see that newly hatched chick. They do grow so fast.

    I agree - totally addicitve! Both the babies and the adults are just so adorable, smart and inquisitive. Though very tempted, I wasn't intending to hatch out any more serama chicks even though I really wanted to, but our flock has gotten smaller recently, and have given in to temptation. New video on the start of a new hatching journey coming soon.

    I had read this somewhere also, but I think it can depend on breed and gentics. Seramas are a relatively newly created type and their genetics havent settled down consistently enough (or so I have read) so I am not sure whether this is also true for them.

    Hi Rachel, thanks for waiting so patiently. I had actually never intended to become a chicken youtuber, and it took me by surprise how many lovely people enjoy watching these videos. I am an author by profession and had originally only uploaded a few videos so my book readers on my mailing list could see them. However, now that people love watching them I do plan on updating videos every once in a while. I don't have a regular schedule, but I guess i should try. I have been delayed uploading so long recently because of a lot of pressure with my work. I hope to update a bit more frequently in future. Thanks for watching and wishing you all the best.

    @r.k.dreamingspetchickens1266

    Hi, is your chick any better? I hope so. I would need more information to see what the problem may be. Is the chick alone or with the mother or other chicks? I assume it may not be with the mother, or the mother would teach the chick to eat. If there is no mother, you need to teach the chicks to eat by tapping their food and water until they start eating and drinking. Keep doing it until they get into the habit of eating and drinking by themselves. Also make sure the area where the food and water is put is not too hot or cold for them. Chicks need a lot of rest. They sleep very often in the day and night, then wake to eat for a while, then go back to sleep. This is normal when they are young. The cage/pen must also be the right temperature to keep the chick comfortable. If chicks are cheeping too much or is too sluggish because it is hot or cold (or trying to move towards/away from a heat source), maybe adjust the placement of your heat lamp until the chicks seem confortable. Give them a range of tempatures (E.g. keeping it at bit cooler at one end) so that they can choose where is most comfortable for them. Finally, chicks need other chicks. They get afraid or stressed when they are lonely. Does your chick have other chicks to be with? If not, can you get another couple of chicks of a similar age and size to be with her? Otherwise you will have to do your best to keep her company, maybe give her a mirror too so that she thinks she has a playmate, and some people also try putting a soft toy in with her which may help her feel less lonely. Good luck!

    Hi Shabana, This breed are called Serama Chickens. (Sometime Ayam Serama / Malaysian Serama / Standard or American Serama.) They are the world's smallest chicken breed. You can look for breeders near your area online on facebook groups for seramas (there are many) or on instagram, or maybe any pet-selling websites in your country where people seel pets e.g. we have one called pets4homes in the uk. I am not exactly sure how much our seramas cost to buy - maybe £20 or £30 - because my sister purchased them. The hatching eggs I got for around £12-16 for 6 eggs on ebay. If you are new to keeping chickens, there are also the costs of housing them. Depending on what predators you have in your area, they will need completely secure coop and a run. Even housecats can hunt these little birds. And large chicken breeds (even bantams) may bully and even kill them, so they should preferably be housed separately. They will also need feeding equipment (waterer and feeder), and it is best to buy them 'chick flint grit' and 'extra fine oyster shell' because the grit and oystersheel sold for larger chickens is much too big for them. They mmight find enough in your garden if they are allowed to free range but mine have benefited a lot from having these topped up - I recommend it. Hope that helps. Good luck.
