Love the result, but I wished the makeover incorporated the iMac or large computer screen. It really hard to design around those, but they are so necessary for many of us. A lot of office designs on Pinterest and social media are just not realistic to how people actually work and incorporate the actual devices they need and use.

The whole Veterans Day discussion is interesting as a person outside of the US. I’ve never heard of it until I read these comments. I’d say don’t watch it, if you want to celebrate Veterans Day. But everyone has different traditions to honor their people/veterans and Team AG is watched by many, not just US viewers…

I do not even participate in most Veteran events in my town unless specifically corralled into doing so by an event organizer. On another note, really enjoyed this episode. Loved what you did with the space. I think if you ever saw my space, you would really cry as you spoke of the kitchen makeover. That desk looks like it could function as a dinner table if she ever had any guests over. I would want to have a second desk chair.

I’m usually amazed at all the beautiful small space transformations that you and your team manage to pull off and look forward to watching all your videos. However, on this transformation I was left feeling a little disappointed as the desk and its placement isn’t very practical for most people. What happened to her computer that was in the “before version”, it was noticeably absent from the desk. Will you have her using a laptop instead? Additionally, I noticed a hole in the desk to conceal the electrical cord for the lamp but where was the electrical outlet? Hmmm…..

  • @jhutch1681

HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear James 🎶💜 Wall paper tip. When you get to an inside corner, don't wrap around to the next wall without cutting. Wrap around the corner, start your next piece in the corner (overlapping slightly on the first wall), cut both pieces vertically in one cut, and remove the overlap sections. That way the paper won't shrink when it dries looking curved against the wall in the corner. And you won't have a visible crack showing the wall behind, either. Btw, this paper looks more like a strippable than a peel and stick... Surprised to see you using spray adhesive for the trim without protecting the floor! The office space is an improvement, because it's tidier, looks polished, has a great light fixture and because the old pink colour wasn't right. Yet... something isn't quite wow for me. I think it needs a plant. I wonder where the stuff all went and if she will miss her ergonomic chair? Don't love the lamp cord switch situation and since there isn't anything plugged into the wall outlet, I wonder if it is even plugged in. The chair blanket is wrong to me - maybe green to tie in with the living room instead? No cute waste basket? And please paint out the shelf logos; it makes them look cheap. Without seeing it in person, the wall paper looks a bit clash-y with the living room colour, and if it were mine I think I would tire of it being so busy. She had some lovely art showing in the before, just waiting to be hung, and the art hung there now is disappointing by comparison. I would have tried to work around what she had. I can see why you chose the baskets to tie in the black and the caning, but I don't like the dark colour drawing my eye up to the ceiling shadows.

Its cute but not sure how i would feel working with such a busy print around me. The chair doesnt seem very ergonomic either. That wallpaper is indeed gorgeous. However, I do have a small suggestion. I found out the hard way in an old apartment that leaving the edges of wallpaper raw at a corner like that can result in damage to the wallpaper edge. What I did was seal the edges with a narrow wood trim that wrapped around the corner and was a good match for the wood in the parquet floor in that apartment. Of course, one could use a trim made of some other material to match the decor if that works better. But I would suggest you seal those edges to be on the safe side. Looking forward to next week's episode!

Really like the warmth the wallpaper brings and the desk is really nice. It feels like there were a couple missed opportunities - the desk could have been made into a double duty dining room table/desk by including a couple more chairs (like maybe the hanging chairs used in James' makeover). I also feel like it would have been really nice to have put a cute china cabinet or buffet on the wall where the floating organizers are instead - for more storage but also for more cuteness/warmth.

41 year old, same same! I have actually got an ergonomic chair at home, and it’s by far an improvement on the black lumps of plastic standard-issue office fare, but it’s still not my ideal in terms of looks, and more importantly comfort! It’s a second hand Humanscale Freedom (with the headrest… which it turns out I hate 😂 it seems to be a functional thing only if you don’t have long hair in a ponytail or bun the whole time, because my hair is always in the way of using that headrest!), black fabric and shiny chrome base and frame, but it’s not really giving cosy vibes (understatement!) I’ve been looking at the Haworth Zody, which to my eyes at least doesn’t look as bad as a lot of ergo chairs while still having all the proper functionality! Also, my flat gets very hot (west facing, basically a greenhouse) and I’m dying for a mesh chair instead of the one I’ve got now… and I think the “Balsam” (green) and “Water” (pale blue with light grey) are cute colour combos, and as they come with a white/grey frame instead of black it seems like a breath of fresh air to look at, compared to most ergonomic chair! Annoyingly it seems like you can’t get those colours in the UK, though I have found an option with a similar pale green colour that I could get… feeling strongly tempted to find £800 (!!!! 😬) and treat myself!

GORGEOUS, but I have a challenge for Alexandra! You've given us suggestions for making our TV's look cute and intentional in our space; I would LOVE to see similar solutions for desk monitors - particularly if you functionally need it to be on an "Arm." What arms are cute? How can you make it look cool?

I've been watching a while I think this is my first post. I love the wall paper, but was terrified for you. Not a huge fan of the white storage things all across one wall. There's not a lot of versatility. She had mentioned floating shelves which would give her a chance for some personal identity. Hanging baskets under the shelves could have held papers. This looks like something i would have used in my classroom and the rest of the wall is ignored. And then everything is white. Alexandra... i love your sense of color and a plant even if its fake. This is beautiful wallpaper and a lot of white accessories. And the desk from the dining nook makeover. The living room is amazing, its lush with texture and subtle uses of color. This new wall paper is a wonderful compliment and its an office, next ... 😕❤

Ok, respect for veterans is 💯always and forever. Without veterans we wouldn’t be watching Team AG on You Tube. Our lives as we know them would not exist. To me, the funny thing is, on Veterans Day we watch TV, we listen to music, we laugh, play, etc. So why wouldn’t we watch You Tube? Honoring Veterans Day, or whatever holiday it is, doesn’t mean life shuts down. I just don’t get all the noise. When did we become so judgmental of each other? We need to stand together. Especially over this nothing burger. My dad was a Vietnam Vet. Nothing and no one can tarnish his service or sacrifice.

You don’t have to tell the whole world you are honoring your veterans. So I can feel disrespected when KZreadrs upload their video on the day when we honor our ancestors? In fact it is not 1 day, it’s the entire month. So I should request KZread to stop service for the month of July else people of our ethnicity will be disrespected.

Sorry, but this makeover seems like Team AG is just too focused on getting favorite sponsors' goods in the space instead of really thinking wisely of the client's current and future needs. Client speaks of needing paper storage and maybe a better/working monitor/computer and says she uses desk for grading and studying, but she doesn't get any meaningful file or paper storage. The round storage shelves in the drawerless desk are kind of impractical. The weird wall pockets with the prominent logos might be sturdy enough for books or records and be great in another setting, but are they really better than a bookcase that could have replaced the cart from the Before office and maybe fit more supplies? Installing them horizontally instead of vertically puts some out of arm's reach (especially when sitting in a non-wheeled chair). The caned unlidded short baskets on top of the closets seem like they'll just be dust collectors and challenging to reach regularly. The lamp on the desk is probably sufficient to light only half the work surface as it's not adjustable and really seems better for an end table or nighstand or something pushed up against a wall, where the switch would drop out of sight and potentially be near an outlet. And even though Kate had several colorful prints and paintings, they've all been replaced by a Sysiphus cartoon, which I guess matched the colors of the living room prints? I mean, the black bar cart is surrounded by big blank white walls and closets, but none of the existing art is moved there? Really hoping that future videos show more of Kate's things integrated and show better ergonomic solutions for a busy lady facing health challenges.
