    The tile job in the shower is truly the definition of "landlord special" looks great for what you were working with! I would definitely check for water damage around the shower fixture though. Love it! Biggest transformation: the caulk. Dang what a difference some fresh caulk makes! The wall ledge was a genius idea- it is small but adds so much! The divider is pretty. I have a tankless water heater in my laundry room that is an eye sore…and I’ve wanted to build a faux cabinet around it for a while, but maybe a divider like this would suffice…great job!

    Pro-tip - when sealing corners with silicone sealant (NOT caulk, which is not water resistant like silicone sealant is), after adding your bead along the edge, spray it with soapy water before spreading with your finger or tool. This avoids it sticking to everything and gives a nice smooth finish :)

  • @merrim7765

    When I caulked my bathroom, I cut about 4" off the corner of a basic plastic shopping bag (the kind some cities are banning) and wrapped my finger with it to get a super smooth caulk line and no mess on my finger.

  • @Jess_M
    @Jess_M11 ай бұрын

    Love the transformation! Not sure if someone already mentioned it, but it's a good idea to fill the bath full of water when you do the silicone, to avoid it stretching/detaching when you eventually have a bath. Learned this from a bathroom fitter.

    A great job on the space with the limitations you had to work in both in square footage and being renter friendly. You mentioned struggling with blending in plugged holes, I find using a plug cutter to get the material to fill the hole helps in blending since you are working with long grain as opposed to the end grain you get with a dowel. They are about the cost of a regular drill bit and work in any drill.

    Beautiful! It does look unrecognizable from before. The all-black fixtures with the pale green and the divider are a good mix of modern and vintage. The one thing I'd have done different is leave the hanging light wire visible. I think with wires it's either hide it or embrace it, and the white covering ends up being more conspicuous. And since the wire is black it'd blend in well with the fixtures.

    I think it was to have some symmetry with the divider but I think the divider stood up well on its own as it’s a statement piece. I initially did think she was going to cut the center of the cabinet doors out and add the same material on the divider once I saw that she was using the same color but it didn’t happen, had she done that I think I wouldn’t have cared that it wasn’t green but since it was meant to be a solid piece green would have elevated interest in it and gave it an up to date modern feel but it’s AWESOME WORK OVERALL SO…I’m just running my mouth LOL

    This is absolutely realistic! The bathroom is tiny, and the problems are relatable. I feel like I could maybe do some of this! Maybe not the sawing yet, but the caulking for sure!

    Love this! that wall divider is so beautiful and it elevates the bathroom so much. Also, I hope your landlord is watching this. I like to shame building and home owners that rent to others. Make spaces better for your tenants people! They are so lucky to have you and all the KZreadrs that are making (and teaching how to make) spaces livable and beautiful!

    I love the partition! It gives it some romance. If you use a wet finger when you smooth out the caulk it makes less mess for you and the seam. I alternate wet rag/ dry rag for my finger.

    They make really awesome durable paint for tile! It’s all about proper prep and seal! Painting the tiles all the same color would definitely hide the fact its mismatched. Gorg makeover!

    love how the divider totally changed the light of the space and the way the shadows fall-- very poetic! would try a grout brightening pen just to freshen up the tiles in the shower area even more.

    Thank you for showing us how to caulk! I’ve been needing to redo my kitchen sink but have felt so nervous because I have no idea what I’m doing - I’ll definitely be giving it a go with your tutorial in the background 😂

    I am in the process of buying my first home and this transformation made me a little more hopeful in my search for a home. It reminded me that I can suck it up with a tiny bathroom for sake of location and make affordable but changes to work for me!
