Professional organizer from NYC weighing in. First, I'm a HUGE fan of Team AG! Obviously, you did a thorough job and are happy with the results. In a couple of months, you'll know what works and what doesn't (and will make adjustments.) The Home Edit (although they seem like lovely people who have built a successful business) is not accessible to most people. ALL organizing (be it home, office, or stage managing) utilizes the same simple steps. Get rid of things you don't use, put like items together, if possible, label things. Most used items are within reach, lesser used items go on top shelves/bottom drawers. Would love to see Team AG do something similar on a budget of $100. Just like all your Studio Fix projects, you would make it beautiful and functional. Wishing you continued success. LOVE your work!

I really like the budget /eco minded challenge. I love the home edit, but dropping $1300 on plastic containers seem wildly excessive. I have reused shoe boxes, jars etc.

I love Home Edit. A word though about all the plastic, which isn't good for the environment and scratches easily: Home Edit has glass containers, wood, metal, etc. Much more sustainable. I salvage, when possible, Mason jars, attractive wood boxes from Christmas gifts etc. I don't need everything to match, although that can be done. I just need things visible or at least categorized into groupings. If a pantry is too matchy-matchy, incoming items can mess with the look. Then you have to decide how to incorporate incoming items into your system. I don't have time for that, unless it's a highly visible area, like a countertop in the kitchen. So, I don't strive for perfection inside a cupboard. I just need family to be able to find what they need, or be able to quickly put things away neatly.

Also, most of your shelves are adjustable and can be LOWERED in order to make more items accessible. I’ve helped friends organize and this is something none of them have done- move a shelf. 😂

I have been organizing our house. Starting small, I just finished the kitchen. I bought a couple clear rectangle container to hold my Zwillings bags in the fridge. Zwillings vacuum food storage system is my best buy, food takes up less space, lasts longer and I always know what's in each clear bag. Best buy! I digress, all the containers and dividers were either strong boxes I've been saving or I made them out of cardboard and packing tape. During winter I will decoupage or paint them. I was able to make the most of every drawer making the boxes myself. I paid less than $50 for the trays to use with my vacuum sealer. Oh, and I did have to purchase a new roll of tape.

Fun fact. Sugar does not actually expire, but food products are required to have an expiration date, so a date for when it'll probably get harder is the date chosen. In sugar mills and factories, expired sugar is boiled down and reprocessed 😅. I work for a sugar company.

Yes, great point. Sugar in super markets usually lists a best buy date vs expiration date. It can go years passed those dates when stored in a dry, dark, cool space in a proper airtight container. Even hard or clumpy sugar can be consumed. 🍚 It's the same for white rice (which is refined) having no expiration date when stored right in airtight containers. Brown rice however contains more natural oils in it's bran layer. With proper airtight storage, it may last up to 8 months max passed the expiration date. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

@@teresacarle294 brown sugar that has clumped to a hard lump can be softened up by adding a piece of apple to the container. Just remember to remove it after a couple of days. Works like a charm. I store my extra rice in the freezer.

Sugar if it is stored properly can last forever, but in the video they said it is yellow (or green, don't remember) so it definitely was contaminated with something :/ Also: salt and honey can be stored for looong time

Same is true for honey and maple syrup. As long as the items are stored in a way where they won't be contaminated, all is gucci.

I am a huge fan of decluttering and down sizing along the way (I finally understand how less is much more enjoyable) but I'm not a fan of the Home Edit. It's too focused on making everything look good, which makes a lot of people (you included) buy tons of containers AND more stuff (you mentioned buying snacks so your cabinet looks color coded). I'd like to challenge you to do another video in 6 months, of every space you organized, without reorganizing beforehand. In other words I'd like to see if you and your significant other can realistically live with the Home Edit system. 😊

I really agree with the aesthetic part not making any sense (it should feel organized and easy to access, but not necessarily *aesthetic*). But I also think having a possitive or negative outcome of the method is not only about if you can maintain it perfectly, but also about if it makes your day by day easier, and if 6 months later, when everything is probably a chaos, it takes 20 minutes to organise your kitchen, or 4 hours 😊

💯. I looove the look but having half empty clear containers takes up so much room in my fridge for example More stuff in there. I had to really stop myself from purchasing these boxes.

I did the same in my home without spending any money, just using a lot of creativity and reusing boxes, baskets and containers made of resistant materials, zero plastic and methacrylate.

Caroline Winkler always says to just use shoeboxes, jewelry boxes, etc., and that's how I've done a lot of my organizing too. I do have a few clear containers but only in spaces where I couldn't find the right size container or I need to be able to see through. Using them everywhere looks nice but it's so unnecessary.

I always thought I needed more and better organising systems for my chaos at home. Turned out that massive decluttering and reduction of stuff was all I needed. Expensive organisation tools could not solve the problem

My INTENSE and heartfelt belief is that a deeeeep edit is the first step in an organization process!!! Purge duplicates, get rid of those exotic ingredients you bought for a single recipe, the tea you don't actually drink, etc. Then stop stocking up (because didn't that usually just go bad because you forgot it?). When you have less stuff, you'll then spend less on the containers to organize it. Et voila.

Pro tip for labeling perishables in food storage: Dry or wet erase marker. It's easier to change the expiration dates without creating a new label every time.

An alternative is to cut the expiration date off of the box and tape it to the bottom of the container if labels aren't your vibe.

I found The ClutterBug Philosophy really helpful to get to know what for me works to keep my house organised. Still, after implementing the things that seem to work for my particulat style, the key to STAY organised is: just tidy up after using something, do NOT throw is randomly back on a shelf or in a drawer, even when pressed of time. Tidying up straight away saves SOO much time afterwards, believe me (mum of 4!)

The life changing hack for me is to store my glass storage containers with their lids on. 🤯 It seriously changed our lives in a pleasantly unexpected way. To be able to reach into the cupboard, grab a container and not have to hunt for the matching list is magical. 🦄

The best decision I took when I moved out of my parents house was to only buy the same brand of containers (I actually have the same ikea ones as her) so any lid fits on almost any container ! My mom had so many differents ones it was a terrible ^^

I always stored tupperware with their lid on, even containers inside containers, I was surprised to see many people on YT storing the lids seprarately, like, you have to extra look for them instead of just grabbing a closed container ready to go

It's aesthetically pleasing, but is it sustainable - would love to get an update in 6 months just to see how this system faired before shelling out over £1000! Thanks for taking us through this x

I have the bathroom and kitchen home edit set and they’re still in really great shape. It’s only been 8mo but no scratches and they look so good in my cabinets.

Yikes! So many thoughts about this video. First, I love Team AG! They are awesome. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard how much this project cost. Yes, the use of so much plastic is problematic enough but the cost in a time of recession and world affairs just seems completely unattainable for most. I would love to see a project like this be tackled using thrifted items or boxes.

Wouldn’t it be a nice year long goal to “shop” your containers, then create cardboard boxes that match the size of your dream containers- then, plan on replacing them one paycheck at a time- could be fun and also give you a chance to test if your ideas really for your space- you can literal edit your system before spending the money- and if you know what does work for you, you can watch out for deals!

Agree! I recycled some small boxes for baby food pouches and try them out if it is the design what I wanted. If it did not work, throw those boxes and change or relocate the items. If the plan really works out to ur daily habit, buy when u have lots of extra $$$$. It is time to donate girls, close to Xmas.

This is beautiful, and now that you have these containers I would highly recommend looking up a bulk food store in your area! There are many local stores now too in major cities where you can bring in your containers to fill them instead of buying a new packaged item and then tossing out that packaging to refill your container. Much more sustainable!

I like to organize but I steer away from plastic for the environment and the cost. I use upcycled clear Mason or Kerr jars or various sizes in my pantry and bathroom as much as possible and baby food jars for my spices. It gives it a uniform look and easy to wash and reuse or find more for free. Plus, they keep my food fresher longer than in bags or plastic. And I put expiration dates on bottom and any directions needed tape to side. Label fronts. Look for these on ur local Buy Nothing group or Freecycle. Happy organizing! Love ur vids! ❤😊

I agree, we buy the same pickles and PB in glass jars. I have reused soooo many of them and you can also upcycle them into those hot cocoa or dry ingredient cookie jars where people add ribbons and recipes and give them as gifts!!!!

I always think of how satisfying this would be in my home, but I get so sad to think about using that much plastic… and the expense is a big investment

yes but this plastic is more long lived than most. but I would only use plastic where it is neccessary to see through. anywhere else I would use wood. diy small things is good practice and as long as it works who cares if the corners are perfect.

You can recycle to create the containers you need. Start by organizing. This lets you know how much volume things take up, which sets the dimensions of the containers you need. It also pushes you to relocate where you store things. Best to divide your kitchen into work stations, where certain tasks take place and where flow works best. (In my kitchen, the double cabinet above the sink is where I store everything concerning consumption, serving, and storing; it's where I wash things, empty serving containers, put food away. The trash can sits between the 'cleaning station' and the 'prep/cooking station', and the silverware/chopsticks drawer is to the right of the sink, nearest the dining table.) Once you've worked out the practical places to put things, use cardboard boxes, 1/2-gal or qt cartons, even paper bags, to create containers. -You can select cartons/boxes with the correct footprint, trim the height to size, then fill the space as needed. I've seen making cartons expandible by cutting a common end, setting one inside the other, pull to the desired combined length, then securing with a paperclip on each sliding side. -Bags work by selecting the best footprint, then adjust height (while adding strength) by folding the bag opening down. If your space needs change, replace the container. -Reused glass jars or metal boxes/cylinders also make great storage. Patience and time will allow you to test which paper/cardboard storage works better in glass/metal. -Even drawer dividers can be made from recycled materials. Open up a cereal box or other large cardboard box and fold up where you want a division ( __||___||__ ). Once you've established the quantity & dimensions of the containers you need, you have the option of upgrading to a commercial product, maybe glass or bamboo or wicker. Some of these can be found in thrift stores or yard sales. Opaque materials can accept metal labeling clips; solid surfaces can accept adhesive labels or direct marking. In the meantime, if the appearance irks you, you can always apply contact paper, giftwrap, or paint to improve the appearance. Thing is, if you do this first, you save a lot of expense before buying any 'storage system' working out exacting how many pieces of what dimensions your specific kitchen/pantry needs. You'll know before purchase which things really need to be transparent and what kind of labeling is required.

I make my containers out of cereal boxes, tape and cover with pretty scrapbook paper but I am not a designer or a KZread creator, I understand why this is important to AG and the expense is worth it to her.

Suggestions for Bathroom storage: -Switch the 2nd & 3rd cabinet doors (going left to right), so the 1st & 2nd cabinet doors open opposite to each other. The 3rd door will hinge on the left, opening left to make toilet paper and 'female'-supplies easily-accessible while on the commode. -Move most used items (especially cosmetic tools/supplies) to the top shelf of the center 3 cabinets (not the cabinets at either end), so the items are easily accessible. -Bath linens in the far left cabinet bottom 2 shelves, with the top shelf used for first aid & other health-related items; Bathroom cleansers/maintenance in the far right cabinet, by the toilet. "Expired, like, a YEAR ago!" Oh, honey...I just threw out something from 2009. Sugar doesn't expire; it's used to preserve things, and not just food.

In the "olden times", things just said, keep in a "cool dry place". We used our eyes to check color of item, and nose to smell if odor was off. Dry goods last a LONG time - a lot longer then the expiration date ! If unsure, test a small amount first. Some things, like baking soda, absorb odors & moisture, so, that would be one I would move to my fridge for a month, then use to clean the kitchen sink with. Baking soda is one of the few things I would put into the sink and wash away.

Yes, I agree granulated sugar doesn’t expire. it gets hard but you can loosen it and use what you need.

What I love about this is: it's a real home. There's random stuff that doesn't match, tiny things all over, an actual kitchen of people that don't cook that much... And there's the price and what it took to actually get it to be this beautiful! And yet, not with buying perfect cutlery or anything to make it be what it isn't! Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzread.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

You can add shelves in your cabinets. Just cut a piece of wood in a store and you will gain a lot of space. I did it in my kitchen and bathroom, I've gained a lot of space and it is quite cheap.

This video was interesting. I guess in theory all these organisation items are helpful, but it just takes one product that’s slightly too big or awkwardly sized for the container to throw it all off again. I personally use shoe boxes under my sink for cleaning products . It doesn’t need to be pretty and it holds what I need.

Contact paper or even gift wrap can make those shoe boxes pretty. You can also save pretty boxes that gifts come in! I have a drawer full of boxes I have been given or even boxes my cell phone came in. They are perfect for organizing smaller items in drawers. Shop your own house, what bins, boxes, containers do you already own that you could use? You may be surprised.

@@amberdoran I saw a video where someone turned their cellphone boxes into very pretty risers for a vase, knickknack, whatever it was. They’re very sturdily made and that could last forever if it’s pretty and decorated well. I was surprised how good they looked.

Same. My life is in dollar store shoeboxes or a couple 24 inch totes. ALL hair and makeup in one. Office supplies in the other. etc. I own 120 things including clothes. Each shoebox is one "thing". All the empty space in cabinets/closets is incredibly calming and I can move out in 30 minutes if I want. (with a mover for big things lol)

Great video! I waited until Walmart put The Home Edit bins on clearance and then bought a bunch. Six months ago, I re-did my coffee cupboard, and to my amazement, it has stayed beautifully organized! No more random stuff falling out when I open the cupboard, and I can see everything I have at a glance. I’ve also re-organized my crowded medicine cabinet, and was shocked at how much extra space I had after using the clear bins. Call me a fan!

The #1 most impactful thing I did in my cupboards was using clear plastic bins to sort things and make it easier to access the items in the back. Also, using clear, airtight containers for dried goods and keeping an "overstock" bin. Now, I refill from the overstock and when that's empty add the item to my grocery list so I repurchase before I run out completely. I got mine from the dollar store though. Probably not as sturdy as Home Edits and less variety, but definitely more cost-effective.

Love the overstock bin idea in your comment. I was surprised to see so many of the same items grouped on lower shelf’s and cans stacked on the highest shelf like that. Just doesn’t seem functional or practical.

All of my organizing bins are from the dollar store or the cool random unique ones are homesense and thrift finds

The best things I did in my pantry was replacing round jars with square that are stackable. Also big storage tubs on rollers to store unopened goods.

Love The Home Edit so it was neat to see you use their products, BUT the BEST and MOST valuable thing about your video is that you were reorganizing in real life. While I love to watch Joanna and Clea organize the stars, most of us don't have a walk in pantry the size of a bedroom! I don't have multiple cabinets in my bathroom: I have a cabinet under the sink and 2 drawers. My linen closet is in the hallway. I don't have a laundry room: my washer/dryer is in a corner of the basement. I have a kitchen with literally 2' of usable counter space and whatever cabinets fit in the room when the remodel was done in the 1990s! It was actually GREAT in my opinion that you have a pantry cupboard, not a walk-in pantry. My only complaint? You're so young and haven't accumulated as much "stuff" as we old people have - BOY, do I need to purge before I even think about reorganizing!!! LOL!

After seeing the home edit's netflix series, it inspired me to organize my tiny kitchen & pantry. Thankfully I had some leftover jars & some recycled containers. In the end, I only needed to buy a shelf. It's not fully like my dream space/aesthetic yet but it's definitely neater on what I can afford on my budget. Coz the cost definitely piles up just on spending on the organization products alone

I started following you when you just started KZread and I bullied my sisters into following, I was like wait for it she's gonna be mad famous one day!!! and in moving and getting married I totally lost track of KZread. today I opened and binge watched everything and Im SOSOSOSOSOSO happy seeing you proper and grow!!! QUEEEEN!

I measured all of my mom's spice containers (a lifetime supply!) and then built a custom four foot high spice rack out of some scrap wood from work and painted it McCormick red about four years ago. Inspired by Alexandra, I just cleaned all the jars and shelves today, and realized that I could group them by brands which looks really nice with the similar labels and sizes.

It surprises me how much one use /few use plastics and none recyclable items North Americans use. Cotton buds (Q-tips), small elastic bands, dental tools, crazy considering how easily accessible eco options are.

I'm moving into a new house in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to do this. I've been buying dollar store baskets and spray painting them white, one by one. I just can't afford THE products, especially not with all the expenses of moving to a new state. But I'm gonna make it work, and I'm gonna make it organized if it's the last thing I do!

Hack for the plastic containers instead of using the stickers under the food container. Write on with sharpie, yes sharpie. When you need to change it, completely cover the writing in expo marker. Then you're able to wipe it away. Sometimes you have to do it more than once. Yes it works. I do this in my classroom with anything I want to reuse and label with the students' names.

I would love a one year update on this 🥰 A system is great but without the habit of putting everything back right away and always decanting and organizing everything new that comes in our homes it won’t stick. So can’t wait to see how it works for you long term. Very beautiful though ❤

I really loved watching you organize and I think you did such a good job. But I think the price tag is crazy. Of course this is something for your personal home and you get to choose how you spend your money, so what I would really love to see is you trying to do a similar organizing project on a smaller budget or with Amazon dupes or something. I'd be curious how the cost would compare and what the actual downsides are other than the ease of using one cohesive system with a guidebook. Also, please give us an update in a couple of months on which organizing solutions worked, which didn't and what you had changed or improved along the way. I would love to see that, even as a short or a series of shorts.

I did this recently in my pantry. I found two cans of 'Robot Wars' Pasta that went out of date in 2004! Put them on ebay and sold them for £62 which more than covered the cost of the new containers. Four months on pantry is still organised, thats never happened before.

The utility closet still looks like it could benefit from some extra shelves & the bathroom cabinets too (especially the daily one). Don't be afraid to move shelves or add extras, if you can't get matching wood you can always cover it in vinyl. Where you have things that might spill or leak it's worth putting lining paper on the shelf/in the drawer. I've not used that book but I've added baskets to several of my cupboards in a similar way this year mainly so I can actually make use of and easily get to things on high and low shelves all the way to the back by just grabbing the basket out and getting what I need.

Sugar never spoils... Unless there are some serious dammage to it, it is good forever. The same for all kinds of sugar. Beats me what the yellow stain on the bag was. You should put it in a sealed container though. That way, you will not have unidentified stains on your bag... and it will prevent ants and other pests to be drawn to it's sweet odor.

Love this 🙌 I was once told that some people can put things into opaque containers and remember what is in it and other people have to see everything; these are clear container people. If they can’t see it it doesn’t exist.

Something that saved me with my pantry organization that I don't see talked about anywhere are the Ikea 365+ tall, narrow, dry food containers. For someone who cooks a lot, they are the absolute perfect size and shape to utilize the most space in the pantry. The tall, narrow shape makes it so i can use the full height if the shelves which are most often wasted space. They're also at a really good price point unlike places like the container store, etc. It's $10 for a 2 quart container, and really good quality. Highly reccomend. ✌️

Re: the spices organizer. Being short on space and memory, I would tuck any duplicates in the empty space under the riser. Love your channel! So many great ideas.

To save the cost of plastic boxes, I use shoe boxes, ( either saved under the bed, or from shoes stores because most people don’t take the box when buying shoes, and the stores are happy to get rid of them) then wrap them in brown craft paper, or use a white label. Just use a sharpie to label the box end. Using the length of the box from front to back of cupboard prevents things from becoming stuck behind items and forgotten. You can use them just like a drawer. Keep the top under each box,so when moving (as I did a couple of months ago), you just cover box with the lid, and stack in moving boxes. It’s SO easy. And, as an aside, moving boxes need labelling for each room, kitchen, bathroom, etc, don’t mix items from different room in one box. This is advice from experience, having moved about 30 times as an adult, not to mention moving three kids in and out of dorms when going away to University. Eventually, you get a system that works and moving is very manageable. Was a single parent from when the kids were young, and only used a moving company once, when it was across country. I’m open to other suggestions too.

You have to plan your zones first. Then categorize within zones. Eg: baking zone; baking equipment, baking utensils, baking materials (flour, baking soda, sugar and such)

I’ve used the Walmart line of Home Edit products and I love them. I think that we forget how many times we try to organize our spaces over the years, bc things looks messy, we have too much products, things move around, etc. The products are worth it bc they are clear and solid so I can see everything I have and they are made to fit in cabinets and with each other. I have not thought about organizing again because everything has its place and I can see everything I have so I’m not buying extra items “just in case”. I love it so much.

If you’re on a budget, you can get these same type of products at Target or even Walmart. I got a two tiered lazy Susan at Walmart for about 10 dollars. All my savory spices are on the bottom and my swee spices are on top. I also two tiered bigger ones for my pantry. I’m only just over 4 and half feet tall so lazy Susan’s are my saving grace. I have more organizing ideas but I wold never spend that much.

Very satisfying indeed! So disappointed Canada doesn’t have the Home Edit-Walmart collaboration. One thought: after the snacks make it to the office, perhaps shift your spices to a corner of the pantry cupboard. I suspect you reach for coffee and tea more frequently than seasoning and all cooking ingredients will be together.

The sugar was fine. If it’s clumped together from moisture that’s another consideration. People automatically toss out outdated pantry items that are just fine. Spices are all together different. They should be replaced every year or two. I love the little narrow Lazy Susan! I do love organizing.😊

Watched this while switching my pantry and appliance cupboards! Pantry is now more shallow and above the sink, and my appliances are now in the big deep shelves between the oven and the undersink! Even if I end up switching it back, it feels a lot lighter and I love trying new things in my space for a mental refresh

This video is so satisfying. Fun fact if you live in the states you can get the home edit products in a bundle at a cheaper price at Walmart than what you would pay at The Container Store.

I love your videos you're so talented. Tip: Expired sugar can still be used as a sugar scrub. Put some in a jar and add oil such as olive or coconut oil. It's a gentle way to exfoliate.

I get the idea of labelling. But some of them seem like a waste or unnecessary like “floss” and “deodorant” you can tell what the item is because you see it?

One thing I found that was good for my spices was to get the spices turn table with clear sides so I can see them and they don't fall off when I turn the table.

When I decant things like rice and rolled oats, I cut out the expiry date, and maybe the cooking instructions, from the pack and drop it into the container.

Don't put the outside label inside with the food because it's covered with germs from all of the other people and critters that may have touched that box in the store, factory, shipping truck, etc. Sorry, I'm a germaphobe!

trust me, you need to spend some time in the space to see what works and how and you cannot have everything in order and neat like this if you are actively cooking, working etc....

@@D8271 this. You will implement some organization but it will change with use. You'll discover that you use this thing in that place more than in this one or that you have gotten more of those than you thought and you need more room for them. So yes, try to implement some organization from the get go, but don't invest a thousand dollars in an ideal that is likely to not be you in practice :)

I just moved, and I am in process: WHERE Can I put Everything??!!

I strongly recommend the drawer/shelf liners from ikea, it helps keeping the cupboard new and clean for a long long time, prevents stains from any spillage, can be easily replaced when it gets old, soften the sound when things are put in or pull out from the shelves, it is a total game changer 😊

As long as you keep sugar dry, it cannot go bad as it is antibacterial. So, no need to throw it away even after its best before date.

Love this video. It's such a great feeling to see everything organized and easy to find. Can you please do a video update of this 6 months and/or a year after? I'm interested if this organization and neatness can be kept up.

I bought a tea chest from a family that handcrafts them, its beautiful!!! Now they feel so organized.

So exciting! Prep before buying isn't as fun but it actually saves on wasted money. I'm trying to form this habit!!

Looks great. I agree doing the prep work saved you time and headaches. It's been awhile since I organized my kitchen pantry about 5 years ago. I went the inexpensive route. However I do have to straighten up the pantry at least once a week. I remove expired items and put stuff back where it goes. Although everything is labeled my husband doesn't always put stuff back in it's proper place. I have a traditional pantry that's very tall with lots of shelves. I'm with you on having a step stool. I use mine at least 3 times a week and not just in the pantry.

For those who find the expense daunting, I recommend watching ClutterBug's videos. She demonstrates budget-friendly ways of accomplishing similar results. I also recommend The Minimal Mom's channel on KZread. But I personally found this video inspiring, Alexandra, and picked up some useful ideas from watching your process.

I like seeing your process of preparing and analyzing. I don’t like clear storage so a combination of solid bins for most things in our pantry works for our family. It’s amazing how quickly we can put away groceries now and don’t waste food.

First, amazing job! It looks great! Second, but most importantly, thank you for showing and telling everyone how time consuming and messy organizing is! It’s also overwhelming at times. But it’s part of the process. I feel like a lot of people live without organization because they see it as intimidating or useless, but what a lot of people forget is how useful it is and that it has to be a system that works for YOU. it doesn’t have to work for anyone else. It’s your house. You make it look like what you want. And make it work like what you want. Also, START SMALL Again, great job and thank you! PS we miss graham PPS please do an update after a month or two living in this system 🙏🏽

If u put the expiry date on the front of the bin, it will flag u to use it before that date, before it expires!

If you have the spare floor space, they make a step stoll that folds over to become a kitchen stool/chair. 🙂

Needed this video so badly! Only Thing I would Change is I like using lazy Susans for my spices instead of the shelf things Bec every time I need a spice from the back shelf the front ones fall 😊

I do NOT have the budget for any of that really. But, a combination of Marie Kondo and The Home Edit methodologies has really helped me actually organize my apartment and keep it that way. There are some places where I use dollar tree containers. I have no complaints, ive had them for quite some time and they have not so much as cracked. The only thing left is the fridge, and i actually do need some kind of containers for in there, because every time I organize it without anything to keep stuff separate as soon as anyone touches it, its in chaos again. Maybe one day.

I siwtched a lot of my organization to clear bins recently and it helps soooo much. I actually may switch some of my closet bins out for clear ones as well because it's helped my stay way more consistent with putting things back where they belong.

I definitely love the idea of organizing by category versus by individual item. An organized home gives me life and so loved the video. Always love your videos AG! Thanks for sharing! I live in a quite small apartment so am forced to buy only what I use and need which helps in that even a little clutter is choatic. Personally I have bought stackable air tight containers for my baking goods, rice, oatmeal, etc with the hope of going to a zero water store to refill versus buying packaged goods from the store. Also I’ve tried to reuse containers and keep my eyes peeled on my buy nothing group and Facebook marketplace to organize other items. (I will say this started due economic hardship but have really felt pretty great at finding items cheaper and more sustainably).

I recently cleaned out my 94 yr old grandmothers pantry. There was a canned good that had literally disintegrated. The can had a small amount of powder in it when we opened it. LOL I couldnt read the date though...

No one buys all of this at once usually, like fully furnishing a house takes a year or more. I buy what I can afford every paycheck mostly from home goods and Amazon and I find the best deals. I have lived in my house over a year and the only furniture I have is a sofa bed and end tables. Try to do a section a pay check.

I just did my bathroom cabinet under the sink with mDesign containers and labels from Etsy and I love it! After saving some extra money, I did the same with our linen closet. My husband loves it because everything has a place and you can see what you have. I can’t afford to do it all at once but I enjoy doing a little at a time. Next is the kitchen but I will do it in small steps. As far as the plastic, I’m sure the containers I got are similar to yours in Canada and are made well. I spent so much $ on baskets and other containers and those weren’t environmentally friendly either. To each his own but I love the feeling of finally being totally organized.

It looks amazing and that had to be so uplifting! It feels so good to be organized - it's the organizing that sucks. Maybe in the spring after we get our dumpster. That way I will have less to organize.♥️

Yes I have watched everything The Home Edit group does and it just makes so much sense, now all my friends and their friends ask me to come over and we have big fun doing it. We don't always have all the containers, but we get it done. Such common sense methods. Love what you have done as well

Aesthetics is important but I think you can get beautiful results without having to buy so much stuff. At home we reuse glass jars and shoe boxes (sometimes they can be turned upside down and they are all brown). I particularly take methacrylate Christmas chocolate boxes and use them for makeup, jewelry and things like that instead of buying new ones. There are many ideas and options. I dare you to try it without buying anything new ;) lol

doing all that at one time would drive me crazy! I'd just attack the bathroom first... you can figure out lots of things by doing a complete smaller project first.

I purchased an 8X16 tiny house (128 sq ft) that I moved into in August so it is still a work in progress trying to properly organize all my things in easy to find and see places. I have installed 3 open shelves on the kitchen wall and built and installed a pullout pantry in the space next to my 4.4 cubic foot fridge.

When I open my cabinet and see everything has it's place. Loved this AG style of the Home Edit. I can't wait to see the video in 6 months, to show how great it is working. Enjoyed the show! I am going through this right now. I usually organize once a year or so... I gradually buy the better acrylic containers. Here in the States are available at big box stores, Wall Mart, bath stores etc. But I hint around for a gift card to the Container store every year. There is always one or two places in the house that a specialty container would work better. I have had one problem in the past: the men in my family don't have the same commitment to being organized. That's why I have to go in and redo the projects every three months or sooner. But it's easier than starting from scratch. I had never concentrated on organizing my refrig until we were in the middle of a remodel and my kitchen fridge stopped working. I didn't want a new one getting damaged so I brought in a 20 plus year old refrig that the guys used for their cold beverages and extra garden produce. I scrubbed it for over an hour, but everytime I opened it to get something I was upset about the way the inside looked. It was so much smaller than our normal refrigerator,( making the inside overstuffed looking: I couldn't find anything), and the shelving was the older metal shelving that looked worn. I saw a tip on line about organizing the refrig. I went to the dollar store and bought containers blue and green, to corral everything. Shallow paper trays became my pull out shelves, and two shoe boxes that helped keep extra yogurts and cheese sticks from falling on the floor when rooting around the refrig. I took before and afters to just show to my girlfriends, and they dubbed it the prettiest little refrigerator. My husband did not like it. I think he just may be one of those people who are genetically programmed to resist being organized... Lol! But I persevere! 😻

Less is more. I found that getting rid of stuff I didn't really need solved a lot of the "cluttered" and "disorganized" issues I had. I didn't have to order any containers either. I just used the ones I had. 1000€ is just too much for a bunch of plastic boxes.

I feel like this is a video you should have put out after using this system for a few months so you can truely say if the $1k+ cost was worth it. Because you won't really know if it was worth it until you use the system for a long period of time.

I’ve been doing something similar but I’ve been getting most of my containers from Home Goods and Tuesday Morning. I don’t really care if all of my bins match exactly, but they fit my shelves and they’re clear. I do like pulling out the lunch snack bin when making school lunches, etc.

Love the organization Im a neat freak and a clean freak as well so I always can appreciate ones home being organized and everything in this place and everything has its place great job I love the end of the video with Lottie super cute ❤❤❤❤

I also use frequency. Things that I use everyday get prime space. Things that I are often are second and things I don't use very often get put on the higher shelves. I just did a refit and it really feels great!

Love this! I have done this in my home but used boxes and bins I already owned. I would think about the ergonomics more in your kitchen - put the spatulas & cooking utensils you’ll use to cook in the drawer next to the oven for quick grab use. Your teas & coffee items are daily use so I would put those on a more reachable shelf.
