Proud Mary is the name of this song. It's forever imprinted on our brains. She did it just as well 30 years later.

My heart Is broken. I’ve loved Queen since I was old enough to hear her voice! So many (today) could learn from her class and grace. Tina was successful before the civil rights movement. Tina worked hard…Hard. Had a rough life! Never once did she speak about racism…Instead, she appreciated all she accomplished.

There will never be another Tina Turner. What an inspiration & those killer legs. I’m so sorry to have never seen her live. I saw a video of her live when she was 69 & she still had the same energy as when she was younger. Absolutely amazing! She will be sorely missed!

Losing Miss Tina hits me a little different! When I was a child, I don't know why I thought this, but I thought she was like me, biracial. Her skin tone was close to mine and for a 7 year old in the 70's that was everything! She exuded confidence, strength, and inner beauty as well as outer beauty! She was everything I wanted to be! Rest easy Queen and know your crown will never tarnish!

It is a fair thought to make since like many African-Americans our skin can go from brown to light brown and she even loosely discusses her mixed heritage in 70’s modestly successful hit she wrote called “Sweet Rhode Island Red”, describing the woman and in a sense herself, as “mulatto”. Also, on a show called African-American Lives which pre-dates the now-10th season of Finding Your Roots, Dr. Henry Louis Gates found out she was 65% African, 1% Native American (to her and many other African-American celebrities’ chagrin b/c of their parents’ old wives tales) - which, even though it isn’t 50/50, my thought in this - if the ethnicities were flipped the other way, it would certainly be considered mixed. Take with that what you will.

The woman had moves, song and legs for days. I’ve said once and I will say it again, that woman had legs that most of us wish we had at 17 that she had at 65.

Greg, "Proud Mary" was actually written by John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival). So I suppose that cleaning plates in Memphis and pumping 'tane in New Orleans were maybe his experience. Ike and Tina just covered it. And I am SO GLAD you said what you said, I was wanting to say it, but hesitated . . . I'm real sorry Ike was "the way he was," because I LOVE his voice!

Ike and Tina Turner was rich in dollars 💵 and music 🎶 back in those days. No one had an electrified performance like them, especially Tina. She was the only one in those days that sang and dance.

Such sad news! Another one of the greats is gone. Tina Turner was the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll". She spanned over 6 decades of music. She started out with her husband Ike & had some great hits such as "Proud Mary", "It's Gonna Work Out Fine", "River Deep-Mountain High" & "Nutbush City Limits". But she had even bigger hits when she went solo such as "Better Be Good To Me", "Private Dancer", "We Don't Need Another Hero (from Thunderdome)", "Typical Male", "The Best", "I Don't Wanna Fight", "GoldenEye" (James Bond movie), "It's Only Love" (duet with Bryan Adams) etc.

I loved this older version. I love the newer Proud Mary too. Hopefully Greg with share another treat with us, by playing her more recent cover of this CCR classic. Seeing Tina dance in those "hooker heels" reminded me that she actually had steel heels on her shoes, because standard heels couldn't hold up under Tina's explosive dancing.

He had an ear and a deep voice. Average guitar player. As they grew in popularity, it was Tina people came to see. He was such a control freak and narcissistic that bothered him. When he lost Tina, he never regained that level of popularity again. The song Proud Mary was written by John Fogerty of CCR on the back of napkin in a hotel room. But Tina owned it and John loved her for it. Shine on the Queen of Rock and Roll! ❤❤❤❤

I was lucky enough to see Tina performing with Ike...it's the only thing being old makes it worth seeing the greatest performers of all time. Work it girl. I cried when Elvis died and I cried when Tina died yesterday. It's still unbelievable to watch her and the girls and Ike. My two sisters and my mom would do this number in the living room and trade off who would be Tina, including the hair flip. It's the greatest performance, along with James Brown and Elvis...may they rest in peace and much missed.

It's pretty well-known that Tina rarely knew what song Ike was going to play next until he has started playing it. Even here, you can tell that she didn't know he was going to start the song again, but she handled it like a Queen. May she rest well. ❤️

Her legs were insured for 1 million. Her estate at her death was is 250 million. Ike died relatively broke. I saw him with his band Ike Turner and the Kings of Rythum at the Jazz Fest in NEW ORLEANS a few years before he died. He did some great covers and had some really good musicians with him.
