"Standing next to Tina Turner on stage is the hottest place in the universe!" Is what he said to her. This concert was in London, I've had it on videotape since the early 80s. He TELLS the audience what he said to her, but this clip stopped just before that. Cheers!🍒✌🍁✌🍒

Great reaction, Dereck! Bowie played a BIG part in helping Tina revive her career, get a record deal, and make her big comeback in 1984. He was also responsible for helping Luther Vandross launch his solo career - Luther used to be one of his background singers. You can hear him singing backing vocals on Bowie's song "Young Americans."

BEF (Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh ex members of The Human League) are responsible for resurrecting Tina Turner's career in the early 80s. They released an album called Music Of Quality And Distinction and brought her out of retirement to sing one song on it, (Ball Of Confusion). After that BEF produced her single "Let's Get Together.". Bowie, as great as he was, didn't do anything other than duet with her on "Tonight" shortly after her career was revived.

@@group-music Well, Bowie had the Let’s Dance album release party on the same night as a Tina concert at the Ritz nightclub in NYC. He told his record execs he wasn’t coming to the party because he was gonna go see his favorite singer live. They asked who it was and he said Tina. So, they all went with him and watched her kill it and that made Tina’s stock in the music business shoot back up.

We lost a soulful artist but her music will live with us forever. Love you Tina Turner n Rest In Peace our Herione. We don't need another hero rather than the Queen. If you could have listened to what they declared right after the song, David said: "Its a privilege to be in the same stage as you, Tina". She teased him: " I ve been asking it for it for a long time and finally I got it". And He added "And it s also the hottest place in universe". And right after that they do an also amazing version of "Let s Dance".Music History. Tina and Bowie had been friends for years , he had got a lot to do with her super sucessful comeback in the 80s because he was a Tina fan himself, as Janis Joplin was a long time ago .

Time for you Dereck to start reacting on Bowie's songs in the eighties ;-) Some really great stuffs to discover . If you like David Bowie's low voice try his cover of the Beach Boys "God only knows" back in 84. But also " Don't look down" , a stylish reggae. " Tumble & twirl" with amazing latino horns arrangements. And of course "Never let me down' in 1987, a beautiful song. "Absolute beginners" live at the BBC in 2000 is also an amazing song. Bowie was crying by composing it

@@DavidBowieFan1990 David was a huge Tina fan. He gave her direct approval to do covers of 1984 and Cat People, then they did Tonight together, then he and his bassist Erdal worked on Girls. David tentarively pitched it as a single, but talked to Tina about the song and said he wanted her to have it. She accepted, and he took it off of Never Let Me Down, replacing it with Never Let Me Down, which he wrote for his assistant Coco. He then made a Japanese version the b-side of Time Will Crawl so Tina's could get full exposure.

There are few live videos of Bowie but you can watch the official video of his Serious Moonlight Tour of 1983 it's almost the entire concert and he's great.
