"Standing next to Tina Turner on stage is the hottest place in the universe!" Is what he said to her. This concert was in London, I've had it on videotape since the early 80s. He TELLS the audience what he said to her, but this clip stopped just before that. Cheers!🍒✌🍁✌🍒
Was fortunate enough to see Bowie and Tina live ,both phenomenonal vocals hope they have now reunited in the sky.❤ absolutely legends

Great reaction, Dereck! Bowie played a BIG part in helping Tina revive her career, get a record deal, and make her big comeback in 1984. He was also responsible for helping Luther Vandross launch his solo career - Luther used to be one of his background singers. You can hear him singing backing vocals on Bowie's song "Young Americans."

BEF (Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh ex members of The Human League) are responsible for resurrecting Tina Turner's career in the early 80s. They released an album called Music Of Quality And Distinction and brought her out of retirement to sing one song on it, (Ball Of Confusion). After that BEF produced her single "Let's Get Together.". Bowie, as great as he was, didn't do anything other than duet with her on "Tonight" shortly after her career was revived.

@@group-music Well, Bowie had the Let’s Dance album release party on the same night as a Tina concert at the Ritz nightclub in NYC. He told his record execs he wasn’t coming to the party because he was gonna go see his favorite singer live. They asked who it was and he said Tina. So, they all went with him and watched her kill it and that made Tina’s stock in the music business shoot back up.

@@RapRants Yes. Although that was 1983. BEF produced her comeback single in 1981.
After Tina says "Nice, surprise, huh?" this video cuts off before David says "This is the hottest place in the universe" (as a comment on performing with her).
This was wrote by Bowie and Iggy Pop, he dueted with Tina on his Tonight album
As a Tina fan she has said in interviews that she will never tell what David Bowie whisper to her that night

Me too. Bowie was incorrigible that time
The next song in that concert was "Let´s Dance", live and together! They rocked!
You are absolutely correct two of musics greatest artist have a beautiful collaboration that works with their unique voices. I've loved Bowie for as long as I can remember and Tina is just a queen 👑
David was fantastic live. The Jean Genie live from The 1980 Floor Show recorded in 1973 is highly recommended.
She rocked. Some of the British Rock artists really liked Tina Turner like Rolling Stones. David Bowie etc. They collaborated n the Stadium is packed. We lost a soulful artist but her music will live with us forever. Love you Tina Turner n Rest In Peace our Herione. We don't need another hero rather than the Queen. This is my favorite duet n Simply the Best. Welj, He said, "Standing near to Tina in a Hot Day".......haha. she is hot. Love the vibes. She never failed to deliver her lyrics n it s a meds for my soul.
must have been the late 80's when I watched this concert on tv. Big Bowie fan and I love this version and their performance!
Good god...let's just say it. This is an ICONIC performance! 👏 ✌

They didn’t produce her comeback album, they were just fans/great friends and they looked out for her.
Two of the greatest! It could never sound bad...
I have this concert on laser disc. She also does a great duet with Bryan Adams x
Bowie body of work throughout the years is amazing and well worth soaking in for a while. i think the both of them could sing the phonebook and it would sound great. A left field suggestion is Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield featuring Maggie Reilly
Dereck that was a fun review! Hadn’t heard that tune in years - Originally written by Bowie and Iggy Pop, pared down time duet for Tina & David for Bowie’s ‘84 album “Tonight”
Those are Titans of Music History
Their "Let's Dance" duet from this concert deserves a look too :) If you want some more live Bowie from his pop era, you can find a lot of stuff from Serious Moonlight tour and a whole live vid of the Glass Spider tour too
If you could have listened to what they declared right after the song, David said: "Its a privilege to be in the same stage as you, Tina". She teased him: " I ve been asking it for it for a long time and finally I got it". And He added "And it s also the hottest place in universe". And right after that they do an also amazing version of "Let s Dance".Music History. Tina and Bowie had been friends for years , he had got a lot to do with her super sucessful comeback in the 80s because he was a Tina fan himself, as Janis Joplin was a long time ago .
RIP Tina. She's able to dance with David again.
Tina Turner....The Phoenix and The Thin White Duke! Heaven!

You should have let it play as they also do an incredible duet of Lets dance.
Tina´s live duet with Bryan Adams in that same 1985 tour "It´s only love" was aslo legendary.
Tina And David Still Rocks
Thank you this was great! When you get a chance, check out "Blue Jean" and "Ashes to Ashes"! x
Gracias!!!que dos talentos nos has traído en esta canción tan agradable, que buena química entre ellos. Wow!!, que gusto verles juntos en directo, gracias de nuevo y besos.
You should check out David Bowie singing with Annie Lennox covering Freddie Mercury.
I can explain their chemistry. They were having an affair and he did say something naughty in her ear.
Time for you Dereck to start reacting on Bowie's songs in the eighties ;-) Some really great stuffs to discover . If you like David Bowie's low voice try his cover of the Beach Boys "God only knows" back in 84. But also " Don't look down" , a stylish reggae. " Tumble & twirl" with amazing latino horns arrangements. And of course "Never let me down' in 1987, a beautiful song. "Absolute beginners" live at the BBC in 2000 is also an amazing song. Bowie was crying by composing it
Dereck, eu simplesmente amo os seus vídeos, especialmente as reações as apresentações da minha diva maior, senhora Tina Turmer. Obrigado pelos vídeos!
Two legends!!
Regularly, I pop up at your channel. Not only because you react to great artists I like as well (Donna Summer, Erasure, Sylvester), but I love your personality as well. I really think you'll dig the italodisco genre. Some of my favourites are Clio - Faces, My Mine - Hypnotic Tango, The Fashion - Future Girl.

@Jaiyana Eggleston I saw that documentary about 10 years ago. I'm sure on KZread you will find it, but I do not remember the name. They talked about Tina's career.
Well the rumor is, and it’s never been confirmed by Tina, is that they hooked up before this. I think the night before. David was supposedly hot for her and seduced her. With that in mind, some have said he whispers “my ____ is still ___” (fill in the blanks) and that’s what made her crack up.

@@DavidBowieFan1990 David was a huge Tina fan. He gave her direct approval to do covers of 1984 and Cat People, then they did Tonight together, then he and his bassist Erdal worked on Girls. David tentarively pitched it as a single, but talked to Tina about the song and said he wanted her to have it. She accepted, and he took it off of Never Let Me Down, replacing it with Never Let Me Down, which he wrote for his assistant Coco. He then made a Japanese version the b-side of Time Will Crawl so Tina's could get full exposure.
Bowie is my favorite solo artist❤️ He has a great wit & they were best friends. Should do Let’s Dance by Bowie. 🔥

Unlike the Rap people, no here got beaten or kicked by either singer nor the bodyguards.
Tina recently told the press that she can't remember what he whispered in her ear..
The way David came in was Tina’s idea, she even bought for him this white jacket! 😉👍Tina has often been asked, what David wispered into her ear, but she never answered to this question. But anyway, I don’t think they were in a romantic relationship. Soon afterwards she met Erwin.
You need to react to David Bowie and Annie Lennox performing “Under Pressure.”
Not so many views there, but what a legendary moment and chemistry between those 2. Great to hear you comment that.
In her last biopic book, she said she don't remember what he said. But we can mostly see : I love U so much... Have a look to the next Let's dance
You’re 35 years old?! WOW!! So you can appreciate this!!!!
They also perform let's dance which you have reacted to from the same concert and Bryan Adam's duet it's only love is also very good
Bowie was asked what it was like performing withTina and he said , “it was like standing next to the hottest spot in the universe”.

A bit late to this, but, the Iggy Pop version is worth a look, he does it totally crooner style. It was released years before Bowie did it, I'm pretty sure he included it on that album as a favour to Iggy, who was struggling at the time, so he could benefit from the writing credit.
i think he told her he was super hard and she laughed

Try The live aid performance with Tina and Mick Jagger doing in Michael Jackson song, one of my favorites

Derek, No disrespect, I am Truly trying to continue to watch you. You talk way Too much. Let the videos speak..Your knowledge of music is stellar, that goes without saying.. but..I am still a subscriber..for now. 🎧😎✌
here Bowie wasn't really at his best vocally he can do a lot better live....and you didn't understand what he wispered to her it wasn't sexual harassment he was referring to what happened the night before and I'll stop there.... or maybe now we can say it since it's in various TT biographies they weren't just friends. There are few live videos of Bowie but you can watch the official video of his Serious Moonlight Tour of 1983 it's almost the entire concert and he's great. Bowie has an incredible stage presence and is one of the best performers ever.
Perfect. Simply Perfect. Please, react to her live official video for "Addicted to Love". kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y2SWq8ScmJrMico.html

The two albums from '77 that Iggy and David made together (The Idiot and Lust For Life) are absolute classics, just like the two Bowie/Brian Eno collaborations (Low and "Heroes") the same year. Imagine to put out four masterpieces of rock history in just few months...the proof of Bowie's genius
