Times When Musicians Have Failed On Stage!
It happens to the best of us. The dreaded fall from grace or in these instances...stage. I fell off the stage, and of course it was caught on camera. I also compiled a few other examples from other musicians who have had the same luck as myself. Some of them funny...some of them quite hard to watch actually. Should the show always go on?
Thanks to @LoudwireMusic for some of these examples.

Not only are you a fabulous frontman and gifted musician, you also don't take yourself too seriously ... such a funny, charming man you are Justin! Thank you for sharing yourself so generously. Much love and blessings to you sir !
Cracks me up every time Justin looks around frantically for the acoustic 🤣 hell of a guy 👍🏻 🎸

He’s a fine wine
JH’s endless positivity and the theme song make my day.
The Edge strolling off the stage in Vancouver is one of my faves. There is nothing like being able to confirm his delay setting as a result of his headstock slamming into the side of the stage on the way down.
Love that you stayed true to Queens “The show must go on” motto and kept singing after falling over…you sir are a true rock God!
One of the wildest concerts I ever saw was on Halloween 1993 in Vancouver. Blind Melon was opening for Lenny Kravitz and Shannon Hoon (the singer for Blind Melon) came out completely buck naked. He was lucky he didn't slip and fall because he was wobbly wasted, peed on the stage and also pointed his weiner and sprayed a few people in the front row. Cops gathered and wrapped him up, but not before they played 5 or 6 songs. There was a full moon that night!

Had never heard that story. What a loss. :(
"perils and pitfalls"..what a wonderful unintentional pun Justin😆😛🤩
Two new quotes added to my repertoire thanks to this video “he’s not always going to be able to pull off a dick van dyke” and “the flares created an unstable work area” thanks JH

Justin "Safety First " Hawkins. A new era has dawned. Standing sidestage at Rammstein with a fire extinguisher and a "careful now" placard
Saw Whitesnake at Sheffield City Hall in 2006 - it was an amazing performance by Dave Coverdale. He seemed genuinely blown away by the energy and support in the audience, and made a heartfelt speech of thanks and praise during the show. And then stepped backwards, fell over a monitor and all we saw were legs in the air and no David Coverdale. Best disappearing act since Lord Lucan. He did recover and own it, although slightly more subdued. There doesn't seem to be any footage on the Googles, it was before the days of going to a live gig to watch the band through our phone screens, back when we were weighted down by our Nokia bricks, so I guess it never got filmed. Sad. It was very, very funny.
My favorite is Izzy from Steele Dragon falling down the stairs and with a bloody face still carries on
That little high pitch out of the dark hole 😂😂😂😂😂

Glad you were OK, Justin. Patti Smith fell off the stage into the orchestra pit in 1977 and broke her neck.

That was the one I was thinking of. Apparently she was berating God before it happened.
"I'm still here.! ... But my very soul has been destroyed"
He was "still there" because his mates didn't flinch and kept the crowd going. Leave it to a singer to think the whole show centers around them. 😂😂😂
And now you believe in a thing called gravity. Love you, Mr. Hawkins.
I love you Justin, the way you just don’t take yourself too seriously.
As a professional drummer I can totally relate, sitting down to play can be extremely hazardous! Also love the vibram soles reference.🤣
"That's one way traffic," gets me every time 🤣
Loved this video! So great to see a performer talking openly about the reality of falling on stage. But, covering the topic with compassion and a sense of humor is so rare. Justin Hawkins is my new favorite Humanist!
One of my fav falling moments is Tobias forge walking backwards and falls into the stage and just pops back up and carries on singing 😂

Agreed -- that montage just makes me howl because he's just so accepting of it. It's usually awful because people get hurt, but it's become part of his mystique at this point. Papa gone tripping. 😂🤣

I felt so bad for Tobias when he did that. He said he cut the back of his leg and he thought he was gonna hurl. Bless his ❤!
I remember being at an Iron Maiden gig when Bruce went AOT. Just goes to show it can happen to the best of performers.
Somewhere on the intertubes there is a video of you, Justin, almost falling on your face while singing "Get Your Hands Off My Woman" and you didn't miss a damn note. Awesome.
One of the only channels that makes me happy...Thank you, Justin Hawkins...you will always ride again...
My new favorite KZread channel, can poke fun and be so supportive, your videos make my day. Thanks for hanging out with us.
“Drink up, Trig, drink up, we’re leaving. You’re cramping my style”
At the Lady Gaga clip I couldn't help but think of Eoin McLove from FATHER TED going: "Brilliant! She fell on her arse!"
Can’t believe you missed out the John Otway fall off an amp. That’s a classic!
I did a stint as Frank N Furter in a production of Rocky Horror. One night my heel gave out as I was making a sultry entrance into the audience, I went with the fall and splayed myself out gracefully while singing Faye Wray and the only ones who realized what happened were myself and the rest of the cast & production 😳 the audience thought it was part of the act and I kept it that way 😉
10 outta 10...your videos are so damn good --thanks for the laughs
I love how the rest of the band keeps going whilst trying to understand what happened, and when they do, they just keep going anyway. Much love to you Mr. Hawkins
what i love about not being a performer but a producer and mixer. i get to watch this sht unfold and i love it. i dont envy performers jobs but yall do it bcs you like it and i stay behind the scenes bcs i like it lol.
Great episode Justin, your commentary on these videos was epic 😂 Thanks for the channel and also for a brilliant show in Toronto 🇨🇦 in April-cheers
That's one of the things I freaking love about you though..you keep going.....you fell..kept singing and made it epic!!! Like a true rockstar!!!!
Love your show so much! Hopefully you'll do an episode on your latest tour…hope you had a blast man!
do a video on forgotten lyrics! my favourite personally is Alex turner during arctic monkeys' performance of 505 when Alex said "I can't remember the fooken words" it was a classs draw back
Yeah never got into The Darkness but damn i love your channel. Endearing to see you talk about you magnificent, fallible human rockstars. I've had some blips onstage that make me wish I fell instead. Saw Ian Astbury trip over a monitor. "How'd that get there!" he said.
I continually fall over on solid ground, I have ZERO equilibrium 😂😂 Great Video as always Justin ❤
Gotta watch some of the "Papa's" from Ghost. Epic falls and valiant attempts at recovery. Great fun as always, Justin! Cheers!
My personal fave is Brett Micheals running slap bang in to a safety curtain at the end of some set...
It's so scary because a fall can do so much damage. YIKES!
😂 I should feel bad for laughing. I don't though. Justin Hawkins is still riding 🤘
Good shit !!!This channel is really growing on me !!
dude your style choices for glasses are so on point
I once fell off stage during a soundcheck. Our guitarist was blocking my route to the small staircase which I would have preferred to use to get down so I could listen and check the sound balance. But there were a grouping of tables just in front of the stage so I thought “I’ll just step on these to get down…” Unfortunately, the table top I chose wasn’t properly secured to the leg section of said table so I went straight down! I managed to rotate so I landed on my back so as to protect my bass from damage. Sadly, no-one was filming us at the time. I could’ve made some money off “You’ve Been Framed” 🤣

That would be the important part, protect the bass
One of the all time great is Chelsea playing the Urgh! A Music War video. Singer drags a stage wedge behind his unaware guitarist who backs over it, somersaults and pops up without missing a beat. Sort of obscure but brilliant nonetheless
Caldicot Castle festival early 2000s , I watched a band play on a stage that was 2 truck trailers placed next to each other to make a big stage. one of the guitarists, whilst mid solo, fell between the joining bits of the trailers . not all the way through . His top half remained aloft with his guitar . His legs were dangling beneath . Brilliant
Live performance is not for the faint of heart. I once tripped onstage during a theater performance in college. I laid flat on my face for a nanosecond that felt like an eternity, then sprang up and said, "thank God I found it!" whilst miming putting a contact lens back in, then carried on with the scene once the laughter died down. 🤣😂🤣😂
Hey man! Your vids crack me up and I’m glad you finish on the lower note when doing the theme tune now. It was kinda painful before.
A compilation of 2 hours with the intro looped constantly is much needed
Well youve got my hopes up now Justin. Can't wait for you to do a full somersault into a cool pose at download fest next Sunday
The Dave Grohl one was difficult to watch 😬 I'd seen a different version from a closer angle not long ago, but the actual drop from the stage was missing. Awesome of him to not just stop the show completely, too! 😀👍
I honestly feel like Justin is one of the most intensely likeable fellows on the face of the earth. What a lovely bloke. Subbed, big style.
Damn it, Sonny, I am 97 years young and NONE of my Big Band heroes of the 1940’s ever fell off a stage! Mostly because Benny and Glenn (Goodman and Miller, for you youngsters) had their musicians sit properly at “ground level” in fancy nightclubs… in… wait for it- chairs! With actual music stands in front! No chance for a tumble there, am I right?? However, the bandleader and the (usually) good looking female vocalist did have to stand. But damn, they could sing WITHOUT falling down! However, on the downside, there WAS a fad at the time called “Dance Marathons.” This is where couples would dance continuously until couples would (yes, FALL down) exhausted, until only one couple remained, who would then be declared the winner of whatever prize was offered. Okay, time for the reality check. I am not 97. And this comment is a tribute to my Dad, Bruce, 1920-2004, who knew more about Big Band music than most anyone alive, and would even pencil in corrections of errors he found in books on the subject. Although our tastes in music were oceans apart, it was he who infused a passion for music in his 64 year old son. I love and miss you Dad. And thank you Justin for supplying a forum where I feel comfortable expressing my feelings. Isn’t that what music is all about? To bring us all together?

I love some if Glen Miller's work. Great old music. Like In The Mood, Moonlight Serenade, String of Pearls. And the Andrew's Sisters Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B.
I found your channel a week ago and I’m hooked! I’m mad that I’ve missed so much already but I’m excited for every new vid. So hilarious! Do tell about how you came to work with Steel Panther. I love those guys, too.
Hilarious. And stoked to see Tom Bukovac loves your channel and talent as well. Quite a shout out from one great to another. Thanks.
God Justin has my exact brand of humour! I love this channel so much.
Was waiting for the Danzig stage fall😂 , oh well next time . awesome channel mate 👍🏻
You fell with such grace though. I agree you are a great entertainer and I enjoy your channel so much. Thanks making me laugh.
"That's one-way traffic." Perfect.
You always crack me up with your videos, but the part I like best is when you crack youself up. "See you on the ice. Get it. (Chuckle)."
Would love to hear you talk more about the sea shell les paul and your signature lp. Never really got/know the story on those. Be a killer vid. Much love Jus!
I sing Justin Hawkins Rides Again all day everyday
Justin recreating his fall had me dying. Ahhhhh! *pfft* 🤣
When I was learning live sound and event management my tutor tripped over a cable while talking about cable safety and he used it as part of the lesson, he also saw the irony and humor in the situation best tutor ever.
Smaller venues when your bass player gets mad into it and you get a bass head in your back and you fall over the monitors. Side fill is the way.
people tripping/falling is so funny because we've all been there, not so much when someone's upset or hurt but it's just one of those things you have to giggle about n move on. looking forward to seeing you at Download 🤘
Hello, Loving your channel. I saw The Darkness in the early 2000's at the NEC in Birmingham, along with Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynrd. You also took a little tumble at that gig after a jump in the air at the end of a song. I actually went and bought your album and the music book to it the next day.
Thanks for sharing artists like Louis Justin! Your theme song was particulary good tonight. Not the best ever, but good all the same!
I LOLd when you LOLd at yourself. Priceless. I'm still here!
Your version of 'I'm still here' would have to be the quintessentially British 'oh no..' as the giant handguns slowly crush marylin
Justin! Legend! Thanks!
I like watching these kinds of videos. There have got to be other compilations of funny things happening to musicians, but where no one gets hurt. There's something about the sound of a mic hitting the stage....
So sorry you got hurt, but it gave me a good laugh! Love the Darkness
Ive gigged for 40 years and havent fallen once. ...but then again, I tend to stand stock still when playing, which helps. Lol. PS Love hearing your thoughts on artists and music. I dont always agree with you but you always put forward intelligent reasons to support your comments.
I don't think anyone noticed! LMAO. Justin I absolutely love you! haha
Our bass player Buzz had a habit of falling off the stage. Never hurt, and always hilarious. Memorable occasions include falling sideways landing on top of a pile of old CRT TV's somewhere in Cardiff, and casually leaning against then falling through the side of a canvas tent during a small festival in Herefordshire. And he never stopped playing. Just continued playing on his back until the end of the song. Buzz was and is a legend.
I’ve unfortunately had the “stepping into the void” experience. Resulted in a boxers break in my right hand, fractured wrist and fractured elbow. 0 out of 10. Would not do again.
I remember falling off my drum stool ..A gig i will never forget 😳 greetings brother justin! 😎👍
so glad my falls are not recorded and not always after alcohol either. been thrown in a Bush or two too.
Or, worse; I remember a live gig in Seattle, during an “unplugged”-type segment of songs, my leg fell asleep.
There's nothing wrong with toning things done to avoid injury & clearing the performance area & making sure costumes fit properly. Yeah. Can be a health energy level. Lots to consider.
Thank you Justin,very funny.
Best and only “fall” I’ve seen in person live was a pretty drunk Josh Homme intentionally jumping into his drummers kit at the end of the show, I’ll treasure that moment forever, never seen a performer so drunk but so damn good (saw Manson when he was clearly drunk but he was nowhere near as good, he was just kinda fucked up unfortunately).
"Unstable work environment" Classic.
6:52 "A piece of rigging has just fallen upon him" Great name for a band imo.
Your best video yet
“A simple bout of the faints as…nobodies ever called it.”
I was at that show when you fell! Will never torget that 😂
I’ve fallen off more stages than I can remember 😆 I’m 6ft 4in tall and terribly clumsy. Sometimes alcohol related, mostly not…happens in normal life to me as well, tripping over my own feet on a daily basis.
Left out the most tragic. The lighting rig falling on Miljenko of Steelheart.
9:10 that's live music 🎶 in a nutshell. Well concluded 😉
Looked up the word "oeuvre" today. Thanks for that. Cheers.
I Justin found this YT channel ....I didn't know it existed and it appears I have many vids to watch to catch up. The Darkness is one of my all time fav bands. Justin and his brother are SO talented ....the rest of the band is great too. I would love to see the band in concert ...but they never performed near my house. Once I win the lottery ...I'll fly over to the UK to see them :)
