Timeline of the DETROIT PISTONS' FAILED REBUILD after “Goin' to Work” Era
Спорт
After winning the NBA championship in 2004, the Pistons experienced a period of sustained success, but by the mid-2010s, the team's fortunes had declined. In an attempt to rebuild, the Pistons made a series of moves that failed to pay off, leaving them in a state of limbo.
The team has struggled to develop young talent, failed to attract marquee free agents, and has been unable to compete for playoff spots in recent years. This has left many Pistons fans frustrated and longing for the team's return to its former glory.

From 2009 until Troy Weaver arrived the Pistons were stuck in NBA purgatory. They weren't good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to land a top pick. Troy Weaver came in and blew the whole roster up and now 3 years later we have our franchise player (Cade) and 2 other really promising pieces to the core (Ivey and Duren). We will add another big piece in the draft this year. I much prefer what we're doing now vs what we did all those years before.

Great video. I was 8 when the 2004 Pistons won it all, but became a die-hard fan in 2010. Its been a tough 13 years. Those games with Brandon Jennings at the helm were the most enjoyable part of that whole decade+
@jaywarvz
Жыл бұрын
Hopefully this decade, they will have a successful rebuild
Obviously getting Wemby would be huge for the team, but they've got a really good center in Duren, and their starting backcourt is locked up with Ivey and Cade. They just really need a great wing player, could be Brandon Miller
@gameknotz3602
Жыл бұрын
Im fine with either Scoot or Miller tbh. They could realistically move Cade to the 3 which seems bad rn but Cade has the potential of becoming a great two-way player. We haven't seen him or Ivey play together yet so this is all speculation but I rn (Miller and Scoot) > Wemby for me.
@TrueGuardify
Жыл бұрын
#1 rule of nba draft is if there is an outrageous talent you pick them, position doesn't matter in this instance. Make Wemby and Duren compete against each other to stimulate growth and development, use the other one as a trade piece (if you can't play them together but Wemby can stretch the floor and shoot really well so I don't see why not).

It's truly depressing what's been going on with the Pistons the last 15 years. I've been a fan since the late 70's, witnessed the growth of the franchise through the 80's which includes 11 East Finals appearances, 5 NBA Finals appearances, and 3 NBA World Championships. Even when the team transitioned during the 90's it wasn't this bad. Troy Weaver says he wants to "Restore" the Pistons and build them into contenders again...Well, we're waiting. And waiting, and waiting, and waiting. SMH!

They were never really in a "rebuild." Executives always made moves like it was more of a retool and they never pulled the trigger on a full-on teardown until about 2019-2020.
