    I ordered this for my boyfriends birthday and just waiting delivery any day now. He has wanted and loved this watch for along time now. The more I read and discover, I am more thinking it would be a wonderful watch for myself! So many ladies dress watches about but they don't have this unique look of simplistic beauty. I might be borrowing this off him in the future!

    I'm just waiting for mine to turn up 😁. I had the opportunity of buying a 1016 about 7 years ago and like an idiot I declined , the prices nowadays are too insane for me to consider one again without selling off 3 or 4 watches from the collection which I don't think I could bring myself to do at present. This Everest will scratch that itch for a while I'm hoping , unless I love it so much that the 1016 quest begins again!!!

  • @WTMS1

    @WTMS1

    3 жыл бұрын

    Ahh, missed opportunity. Still, i think the PR25 will definitely scratch that itch, it's a great little watch. And a lot less fragile than a 1016. I can't imagine dropping 10+k on a 1016 and using it as an every day watch. I'm not interested in safe queens, but a 1016 would have to be. The Smith's is something you can actually enjoy every day. Wear your new watch in good health

    As owner of 3 Timefactors' watches, I am really impressed on the craftsmanship and value. However, at the same time I am also puzzled that there are always some thing very wrong in each of the design that to the extent it is so obviously and makes one thinking Eddie deliberately sabotage a design almost perfect, such as, the minutes hand is too long or sometimes not long enough, or hour hand is too narrow, or put a highly polished bezel on a brushed case, or in this case minute hand is too prominent. Or maybe I am a nut case.

  • @WTMS1

    @WTMS1

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, i agree to an extent. The flaws you mention have been scrutinised by hundreds if not thousands of people on the forums. I imagine that Eddie, as a one man band doesn't necessarily have the benefit of all those eyes before green lighting a design which leads to these oddities. Or its a parts issue: "we have these hands, which one do you want". Who knows? I doubt it's deliberate sabotage though. Would i prefer the minute hand to be a tad shorter? Yes. It's it a deal breaker as is? No. Thanks for your considered comment.

    Thanks for sharing this unboxing video. Besides the logo, the proportion of the hands is better than previous versions. WT MS The minute hand looks like it was shortened, but still not quite enough I think. If you compare it with a Rolex Explorer the Everest minute hand is still too deep into the minute track.

  • @WTMS1

    @WTMS1

    3 жыл бұрын

    I'll check the revisions for the full review, and include some comparisons. I think the hour hand was lengthened for v2. The minute hand is very close to the rehaut, it can't have been much longer. But i agree it would be better if it just met the minute track

  • @edwardo737

    @edwardo737

    2 жыл бұрын

    Looks like the tip of minute hand barely gets into the minute track. It doesn’t seem to bother me from the photos, although I agree with your assessment. What does trip my OCD is the width difference between the minute hand and the base of the hour hand. Amazing watch, that only one thing jumps out. The faint “EVEREST” is apparently now on par with the boldness of the Smiths logo, which I prefer, going by pics on the website.

    Still in love! It's a fantastic watch. People in the comments like to pick out minor flaws, which may be valid, but this is one of those watches that it greater than the sum of its parts. The main negative for me is that the clasp picks up quite a lot of desk driving marks, but it's a very minor complaint. The only thing that I feel also needs an update, that crown. If timefactors had done a more Rolex style crown instead of this barrel shaped obtrusion, I feel the watch would be perfect and look leagues better. That straight walled barrel shape of the crown looks uninspired, ugly and is not great to grip. However the Rolex style that is a bit shorter, slightly bigger in circumference and has a chamfered inner and outer edge, leaves a nice ring of traction to grip and protrudes off the case to a lesser degree.

    Smiths watches are nothing more than a watch made 100% in china with chinese generic parts. This is what you are buying if you go ahead. Why a Rolex homage? because the chinese have been making rolex copies for decades - there is plenty of factories producing them and it is easy and cheaper to assemble a watch using cases and bracelets that are a plain copy of a rolex. What are you getting extra from Smiths that justify the extra payment in opposition to the Rolex copies/hommages available at Aliexpress/ebay/alibaba for less than 100usd? Very little, but in summary the next: - Packaging: Smiths delivers the watch in an extremely cheap packaging - u can appreciate this in the video - Quality of the case and bracelet: the same as the ones sold at Aliexpress for less than 100usd. - Watch glass: Smiths offers sapphire but the ones from Aliexpress too - no improvement here. - Movement: Smiths offers a Miyota 9015 movement (btw a good movement), the ones at Aliexpress tend to offer the next options Miyota 8215, Seiko NH36, seagull ST16 or a generic chinese 2813 (The last one being the worst option - but is also fitted into the very cheapest watches, at around 50usd). - Dial and hands: Smiths comes with a simple printed dial - this is the cheapest way to produce a dial - and very generic rolex hands. Some of the other chinese copies come with dials with applied markers - this is more expensive yet those watches are sold for far less than Smiths. - Customer service: Chinese sellers are not known for providing a good customer service, but here is the key, Aliexpress intercedes between you and the seller and if you have a complain or receive a damage/defective product... you are likely to receive a full or partial refund. In the case of Smiths watches.... you just need to check out this video and will understand the type of person behind Smiths and what he delivers as a "customer service". kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5qClraFmta-gMo.html&lc=Ugw3F88zhYe8PNzz2Oh4AaABAg.9I09Cu91HeE9I3ejLKxCVy The last topic is brand heritage: Once a brand becomes abandoned by the owners - and this was the case of Smiths watches... Anybody can register and own the name by registering it again to himself --- this is the case of Smiths and many other brands (Ball watches, etc...). Timefactors has been importing batches of chinese watches and re-selling them to european customers since 1996... At some point the guy owning Timefactors realized he could re-register abandoned historical brands and he has done it several times... check Timefactors offerings, he not only offers Smiths but also other less known historical brands he has registered again---- the difference between the different brands he sells? only the brand logo he is requesting the chinese manufacturer to print on the dial. ----------- MAKE up your mind if you consider this kind of "heritage" deserves any additional value or payment.

    This guy^^^^ must not know that ALL the Swiss brands contain parts made in Asia, every single brand, bar none. He is paying the SwissMade Tax for his watches. At least Timefactors is honest about it

    @@yankeexpress Honesty on taking a chinese copy of a Rolex and slapping on it the brand name from a defunct company? It reminds me the typical guy in a psychiatric hospital saying that he is Napoleon Bonaparte. I want to smoke the same as you man. Anyhow, keep using your chinese rolex knock-off and beleive that those watches made in china were the ones that climbed the everest first - dont let the other people beleive you are a moron.
