    Yes, it's here! I've been looking forward to this review since your unboxing video. You're the only one who has reviewed it on the bracelet, which is a big reason why I like it...not many small watches with such a complete package! The dial screams "British", it's a nice colour combination for sure and in your video I can tell the hands do really look blue IRL as opposed to some pics where they just look glossy black. Overall looks like an excellent watch, all coherent and solid. I might really (try and) buy it next time it becomes available!

    I don't think you'll be disappointed if you pick one up. And the value proposition is solid, so you're unlikely to lose money if you ever sell. Thanks so much for the positive feedback. It is greatly appreciated

  • @WTMS1

    Thanks for the comment. The crown on the PRS29-A/M is less thick, but of slightly larger diameter. It is also not recessed as here, so net result is a tad easier to operate. Although part of the reason is easier to use is that it is sharper on the edge (less well finished?) and therefore easier to grip. Well done on the vehicle spot. The LR is an Urban dual cab. Cheers

    In person does the lug width/bracelet look too wide relative to the case? 18mm tapering to 16mm seems like it would be a better match.

  • @WTMS1

    @WTMS1

    3 жыл бұрын

    The case proportions might be a tad nicer with an 18mm lug width, but I don't think 20mm is too wide here, personally i don't much like 18mm bracelets. You can compare vs 18mm lug width in my triple unboxing video kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6qW1tazd9S2hLw.html But the A and AM don't come with a bracelet. The bracelet on these is pretty nice, so I'm ok with the 20mm lugs Thanks for watching and commenting

    I almost pulled the trigger on the expedition but your videos have me going back and forth between the air ministry and this one? I can’t do both or else I would have pay a divorce attorney on top of the watches. I can’t decide between the two! Any comments on both models, having owned them for awhile which one would you suggest? I know it’s a tough question but.....

  • @WTMS1

    For 2 very similar watches they are very hard to choose between. Pros for the AM are the Swiss movement and those beautiful blued hands. Pros for the expedition, i much prefer the case, the bracelet is very good and it's legibility is faultless. In isolation it's a perfect watch. But if i could only have one it would be the AM. It's the watch that got me interested in Smiths, i fell in love with the looks, and winding the Swiss movement every day is a feel good moment. I always like a watch more if it's accurate, and my AM is better than 2/s a day which is cosc standard. My expedition is about 5/s a day which is not to shabby either. Ymmv

    Smiths watches are nothing more than a watch made 100% in china with chinese generic parts. This is what you are buying if you go ahead. Why a Rolex homage? because the chinese have been making rolex copies for decades - there is plenty of factories producing them and it is easy and cheaper to assemble a watch using cases and bracelets that are a plain copy of a rolex. What are you getting extra from Smiths that justify the extra payment in opposition to the Rolex copies/hommages available at Aliexpress/ebay/alibaba for less than 100usd? Very little, but in summary the next: - Packaging: Smiths delivers the watch in an extremely cheap packaging - u can appreciate this in the video - Quality of the case and bracelet: the same as the ones sold at Aliexpress for less than 100usd. - Watch glass: Smiths offers sapphire but the ones from Aliexpress too - no improvement here. - Movement: Smiths offers a Miyota 9015 movement (btw a good movement), the ones at Aliexpress tend to offer the next options Miyota 8215, Seiko NH36, seagull ST16 or a generic chinese 2813 (The last one being the worst option - but is also fitted into the very cheapest watches, at around 50usd). - Dial and hands: Smiths comes with a simple printed dial - this is the cheapest way to produce a dial - and very generic rolex hands. Some of the other chinese copies come with dials with applied markers - this is more expensive yet those watches are sold for far less than Smiths. - Customer service: Chinese sellers are not known for providing a good customer service, but here is the key, Aliexpress intercedes between you and the seller and if you have a complain or receive a damage/defective product... you are likely to receive a full or partial refund. In the case of Smiths watches.... you just need to check out this video and will understand the type of person behind Smiths and what he delivers as a "customer service". kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5qClraFmta-gMo.html&lc=Ugw3F88zhYe8PNzz2Oh4AaABAg.9I09Cu91HeE9I3ejLKxCVy The last topic is brand heritage: Once a brand becomes abandoned by the owners - and this was the case of Smiths watches... Anybody can register and own the name by registering it again to himself --- this is the case of Smiths and many other brands (Ball watches, etc...). Timefactors has been importing batches of chinese watches and re-selling them to european customers since 1996... At some point the guy owning Timefactors realized he could re-register abandoned historical brands and he has done it several times... check Timefactors offerings, he not only offers Smiths but also other less known historical brands he has registered again---- the difference between the different brands he sells? only the brand logo he is requesting the chinese manufacturer to print on the dial. ----------- MAKE up your mind if you consider this kind of "heritage" deserves any additional value or payment.
