little PSA for new people, when Amber says she's not gonna be good at something, she will be good at it lmao i loved this episode! you did so good too, the whole of world one in a single episode is mad impressive! also, i love the voices you gave people in the intro, it was so fun haha super excited for more of this! this episode flew by!

Customizing controls is normal and good. Don't ever feel bad about adjusting things so they work for you. Constantly fighting controls can make a 10/10 game something you don't even want to play. Also, your videos are always so much fun! I'm super excited for this series. 😁🍀

Amber laughing as she loses her sanity has to be the cutest thing I've watched in a while... I would totally go mad in a blink at this game (and I know a few friends that did), which is why I never bought it in the first place, but I enjoy watching people managing to overcome its challenges.

It's honestly not quite as brutal as many folks say. It just requires the same sort of patience as games like Dark Souls (it's fairer than early DS, too). It got its reputation because the charming art-style attracted a lot of folks unfamiliar with that sort of game.

Having shoot on the left face button (X for xbox) is a pretty traditional setup, but I can see someone wanting it on a trigger. I moved dash to R2 to make it like Hollow Knight.

I love the frog cardigan! Also I very much relate to not wanting to talk over King Dice's song, when I reached that point I literally just sat there and listened to the whole song before actually going through his dialogue.

Yay, I'm so excited to see you play Cuphead! You have a way of embracing games and their characters, and I'm excited to see that in Cuphead's unique ambiance.

I’m not sure if every boss is a triple entendre but The Root Pack is referencing The Rat Pack, a sort of confederation of early 1900s performers who often worked together. The two most famous members are Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.

There is something peaceful and calming about watching Amber play frustrating games. My favorite Amber phrases are "I did-jit" and "Oh I don't like that"

I love watching you learn how to play the game as you go along! Even if you get frustrated, you still find something enjoyable in the experience (even if it's "the background is so pretty"). I could stand to learn something from the way you play games.

You can teach yourself to think the same way she does, if you want. Whenever you START to feel yourself getting frustrated, find something to compliment in the source of your frustration. I personally taught myself positive thinking using multiplayer games. Any time another player got one over on me, I made sure to compliment them over the chat. Even just going "nice shot" every once in a while really improves the vibe of the game.

God I bloomin' love this game. The music alone is masterpiece level, and I wish there were more games out there with set-piece style fights as the main progression objectives as opposed to linear levels. The DLC for this game is also sensational, so much effort put in and it really shows.

That is the longest I've ever seen anyone go without taking a hit to start the game. This is going to be a great playthough to supplement Emma's Hollow Knight playthough :)

Along with Hollow Knight, this is one of my all-time favorite games, so I can't tell you how excited I am for this playthrough.

Woah, that's fascinating! Literally every sidescroller, basically since the SNES days (so over 30 years) uses X for attacking, but Amber has been through so many soulslikes recently that it feels weird for her to not use the triggers. I've literally never seen this happen, it's great. I've had the exact opposite experience when starting Elden Ring.

One of the first things I did when I started my Cuphead playthrough was to reassign "shoot" to R1 (right trigger) and "ex move" to R2. You can immediately tell that I am a Souls player lol.

Oh I love it already! The more chaotic levels become the more you scream and laugh at the same time and that's just fantastic to watch! You put so much effort into editing this video to make it fit the game which makes it just perfect. I can't wait for the next episode.

The Genre is known commonly as a "Boss Rush" game. Where each stage is just one boss with mechanics. Now Cuphead isnt a pure boss rush as it does have some run and gun stages but its mostly Boss Rush.

This is truly one the greatest gems in videogaming. It's good you "held off" on playing this, because you now also get to enjoy the DLC right after. *edit You pretty much smashed Isle I. Good shit. You've done really well exploring the island as well, keep doing that, check everything.

For anyone planning on picking up this game, you can and should remap the buttons so you can shoot and jump/dodge/etc at the same time more easily. Edit: Just like Symbalily did.

@@SymbaLily that's true. You've kind of inspired me. I might try to play DS3 blind because I've learned how to play them from watching you. But I'll certainly watch the rest of DS2 and DS3 when you get to it. And Elden Ring if you get to it eventually too.

@@SymbaLily| If it's frustration and challenge you seek, may I suggest trying the game "Getting Over It" by Bennet Foddy? It's a thoughtful little game that discusses game design, internet culture, the nature of challenge, and human stubbornness. Technically it can be beaten in less than a minute. It took me somewhere around 4 hours. A fantastic game.

Yes! Cuphead! Ive actually never beaten it. It was a blast when I played, but I got stuck on a boss, put it back on the shelf, and never picked ot back up. I'm excited to watch you play. Good luck!

Don't forget about those one-card specials. Sometimes it's worth it to blow them on the last phase to brute force it.

"I'm not good at platformers" gets an A- on the first attempt at a boss. "I'm a games journalist" can't complete the tutorial. And they wondered why the internet ripped the piss out of "that" journalist.

I put shoot to my left trigger and jump and dash into buttons similar to a "mario" esque game for me. It's much easier that way I just hold down trigger the whole time basically, there's no penalty for doing so.

Is it just me, or does Amber keep looking more and more like a fantasy character? She's always had that elven/ fairy vibe but here she could have stepped straight off the page of Name of the Wind

Oh my god I love Cuphead. It was the first game I ever played that had actual gameplay in it, didn't even think I'd finish it because it was known as being so difficult, but I did finish it and it became my favorite game. It was also the game that got me to try Hollow knight and then that also became my favorite game. Both are so beautiful and unlike any other game out there. PS: You look so beautiful and enchanting

Amber, don't be afraid to change the controls if that would make it easier on you- The fact that they CAN be changed, means that you should make them whatever makes you feel most comfortable! If people DO get bent outta shape about that, that's a them problem, that is not on you.

This has been the only game to ever wreck my calm. I don't have gamer rage. I don't flip out like a lot of people do when I'm playing games. If I'm dying too much or get stuck at a part I just turn it off and come back later. This one, however, made me yell at the screen a few times, then hope my neighbors didn't hear me. It's fricking frustrating, but for some reason you can't turn it off. You're a lot better than I was starting out though, so maybe you won't have that problem... but you probably will. Cuphead is stressful.

You're doing well, honestly 😄 Even though I find Cuphead charming, I never finished the game because of the difficulty.
