Eric Sir, I support your statement cuz working out is more of a lifestyle thing. I do workouts at gym 3-5 times a week. And also handling technical sessions with some agility and acceleration and plyometrics + core also movements and activations at end of the week. I do workouts that engage back, shoulder (once), Legs, Chest. I don't use heavy load for biceps or tricep. I tone them just to be in proportion. And also, on days I train the myofacial for at least 5 minutes for 1-2 days in the morning. I am doing this because I'm very much thin and underweight. So, it's not just aesthetic. I do the explosive drills and endurance as well. I don't like to be thst kind of extreme bodybuilder. Even if I don't make it, just the fitness of a footballer. I'm doing this because my chances are narrow(even for the best). So, I listen to your words to know something worse can happen if train like that. What's your take,Ric? Please answer, love from India.

Training your shoulders isn't gonna help you, because the force that you generate in "shoulder against shoulder" duels, comes from your legs. So trainging your explosiveness and training the power in your legs, and doing a lot of shoulder against shoulder drills against your friends (to get the technique down, and increase the power your legs can produce) is what you should focus on if you want to improve in shoulder against shoulder duals; not by training your shoulders just because the shoulders are making contact in the dual.

football is all about explosive movements, so they try to do the concentric movement faster to transfer the force developed to the field. ultimetly do it at whatever speed u want, but a "fast" yet controlled concentric movement and a slow and controlled eccentric movement is usually better

Be as explosive as you can be! Lots of plyometrics. Need some extra muscle though, but make sure they are for function instead of sheer size. Being tall is an advantage too, but guys like Lisandro Martinez, Ake or Azpilicueta shows that there are exceptions out there.
