Best Channel ever... Every time i need new gear , before i get it, i always come here to learn more about what i want

I know A LOT ABOUT EVERYTHING...but when I come to your channel, I always feel like a beginner compared to your vast depth of obscure knowledge about literally everything. You are somebody I sincerely admire!

Love the filter feedback trick. I realised I could do this the other day on my MS-20 and have been using it ever since. Can't wait to use some stackable cables now.

One more tip: if you need to, say, span from one case to another, and you don’t have a long enough cable, you can take a longish stackable and connect another longish cable to it, and have a cable the combined length of the two. We do this embarrassingly frequently to pass clock signals around.

Doesn't the dangling open end of the cable in the middle introduce noise to the signal?

Not if you just lay it down somewhere. If you fondle it or tap it on something conductive, it might.

Hi loopop. Great videos you do here.. Only just discovered them about 2 weeks ago. I like the rack setup you've got here, has some nice ranges in sound. im hoping to switch over to that route oneday. but im interested in the ones you've used here. quite compact setup, what i'm sorta looking for.

Another interesting trick you can do with stackables and make noise modules is to combine two outputs into a single input using stackables to get interesting effects (do keep in mind that stackables are not meant for mixing signals, and this can damage modules that are not designed to accept high voltages, however on all of make noise modules the circuitry of the inputs is designed to handle this, as confirmed by Tony Rolando).

Only the gate outputs can be merged properly, but yeah it works like logic OR in this case

When I was an absolute noob I thought you could use stack cables on the in to allow that input to receive multiple INs.

I understood it until #4... now I am once again at the point, where I think, that this is definitely rocket science... 😂

loopop Guess, I have to buy at least a semi-modular, to try that in real life and stop trying to understand these things in theory. Maybe I go for the Neutron... in case I am to stupid for this cable plugging stuff, it‘s not too much wasted money

The same thing would work with VCV rack. Don’t spend money on hardware to understand this stuff - hardware is for when you want a hands on experience

How do I know whether my mixer can handle the voltage levels caused by feedback? I just got into modular and I'd like to know whether I can apply the same trick with my Quad VCA :)

Very very nice! So if I put something into the end of the Stackable that is at the target/input, It never damages that but pushes the output signal to the next thing? I would have thought it not work that way. Thanks for clearing this up, will help a lot!

What I miss in this vid is using a female side of the stackable cable as an input, passive mults are bi-directional.

I like the splitter mult hex devices better as I can take mult a bunch of cables neatly to multiple destinations.

Thanks! In terms of specific points, not that I can think of, just don't start two stackables one on top of the other and regardless plug in and out carefully. Enjoy!

I find it easy to tell the difference between 3.5 male cables, but how do you tell the difference between panel mount mono and stereo jacks. Can you use a stereo instead of mono and wire it differently. Just starting out and wondering how that works.

Does anyone know where to buy the stacked patch cables? Especially short ones.

Question: In Tip #4 you have a stack cable going from Filter OUT to Mixer OUT then a single cable to AUDIO. I'm guessing because they are both OUTS, it is basically passively mixing to the single cable to AUDIO? Saw the OUT to OUT and confused me.

Hey, no, it’s a little hard to see perhaps - Stackcable is going from filter out to one of the mixer inputs (it has 8) and then also to audio out.

Hi, thanks for this awesome video. I'm buying some Stackable for the 0-Coast. Which is the best length for the 0-coast only ? I see you're using the red one so it must be 30cm / 11.8” ... Will three be enough? Thanks in advance.

The voltage is sustained, more or less. Lots of passive multing can lead to a little voltage “droop”, which is why folks result to buffered mults when distributing pitch voltages.
