    Another way to look at it that helped me decide where to go next after my 0-Coast, is to imagine that the next module you plan to get is actually what you were going to get BEFORE 0-Coast, and then look at how 0-Coast would allow you to expand that module. Looking at it this way really made me realize how much functionality is packed into 0-Coast, its a total little swiss army module!

Hopefully you’ll share few more vids with jams or more pairing setups with it. How about pedals ,tape loops and 0-coast setup?

  • @jonaseggen2230
    @jonaseggen22304 жыл бұрын

    The first thing to add to most semimodulars and synths would be a reverb and a delay pedal in my opinion. There are loads of synths and gear circulating on the secondhand markets, making it relatively easy to try out things and resell without much of a loss. After my first semimodular, a Mother 32, I bought another secondhand. But after buying a Doepfer low cost case and some modules, also used, I resold the second Mother and got a dreadbox nyx V1 instead. The secondhand Nyx was dead cheap to as Dreadbox has made a V2. Bear in mind that some hyped and out of production gear can be really expensive, and that If you really want that sound or functionality, it can make sense to wait for a while as clones or remakes are likely to pop up. My first external sequencer was an Arturia Keystep that I don't really like that much, except as a portable and decent keyboard. At the moment I use a Mutamix and just got a Doepfer Darktime. The mutamix was dead cheap and is good as a modulation source, and Darktime is really intuitive and great for instant melody and beat making. It has also made me rediscover new sides to my instruments. I've also seen many enjoy and making great stuff with the Korg SQ1 both for semimodular and eurorack, so I suppose for that low price it is worth checking out.

    Worth mentioning that I could never get the CV output (now that you can route the Modulation sequence out of the Aux CV out as note CV) from the Mono Station to scale correctly with my 0-Coast - even just within one octave the tuning was too far out to be useful musically. Still had some fun triggering my 0-Coast using it, but it just didn't quite work as it should! Worked perfectly over MIDI though, though that way you lose/duplicate one of your sequences from the Mono Station.

    I found the solution: “VCA Apply a CV signal to the MIX 2 input. With the VC MIX control at a fully counterclockwise position, apply a 0V to positive CV signal to the VC MIX CTRL input (EG for example). This will dynamically determine the amplitude of the signal at the MIX 2 input that is passed to the VC MIX output.”

    Amazing stuff as always! Thanks so much. I am the proud owner of a 0 coast now and am absolutely loving it. One question of routing i had though. I hooked up the headphone output to a guitar delay stompbox which sounds wonderful...i have the output of that going into a portable zoom recorder, however i'm only getting it in one ear, which somewhat makes sense since it's not a stereo pedal. Is there a better way to hook this up to your knowledge? Much thanks for any help

    Ahh, just figured it out. The zoom will not take a mono input... So it just shows up in the left channel. I can fix it in an editor. I guess a mixer would also solve the issue it go through an interface into a daw...

    @@rhdwave thanks for the kind words re the video - another way I'd "solve" the problem is get a stereo reverb pedal and chain that after the delay ;)

    You're welcome. Your vids are incredibly insightful and sonically wonderful. And, that's perfect advice on the stereo reverb at the end of the chain. Do you have any recommendations? I know the strymon stuff is top notch, but it's not in my budget right now

    @@rhdwave My top recommendation would be H9 Max - I know it's not cheaper but you get that and you're "done". On the more budget side I would go for TC Hall of Fame 2 for $149 - I don't think it's a compromise compared to BigSky and I know people who'd say it's even better...

    Thanks! The H9 is definitely legendary though as you said not cheap, but of seen some great demos of the hall of Fame 2. I'm going to revisit that one. S so loving the 0 coast btw. I have gone down some deep rabbit holes in the past couple of days (which is what I wanted) especially with the added delay. At times I feel like I'm communicating with or having a conversation with another dimension

    Just great. Again. How about a Make Noise 0-Coast - PM Microvolt 3900. No videos out there.
