Just Aaliyah’s name is synonymous with beauty. Back in the day when she was alive, a cute light, brown, or even dark skin girl with long hair was referred to as an “Aaliyah” type, especially if they were petite. Aaliyah was definitely a trendsetter and household name in black American culture. Now her legacy is icon status🙌.

I think people would love Beyoncé as an entertainer, but everything else Aaliyah. It’s like Rihanna, people don’t like her as entertainer as much as Bey, but they like her music, fashion, and personality. But Aaliyah had more of an advantage against Bey over Rihanna because she could entertain and was a good actress. Beyoncé strong point is she’s a live performer. Aaliyah was a good live performer but never got to prove herself with a big show like Beyoncé.

We never had the chance to see Aaliyah dance at a major televised award show or festival or anything of that sort which is insane considering how huge and influential she was in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Aaliyah would’ve remained at #1 for years until she was ready to retire. I had faith in her abilities and she just had it and it was growing year after year along with her great attitude, humility, style, grace and being a positive role model. Miss her so much.

I was not even born yet when Aaliyah passed away but I recently discovered her music and she’s probably on my top 5 most streamed artists right now. it’s hard to tell where she would be right now but I also think she would have been huge. Both Rihanna and Beyoncé looked up to Aaliyah and were inspired by her. I think that alone already says a lot.
