AMAZING win over Jeff Horn Tim!, you have definitely put Australian boxing back on the international map. I myself predicted that you would fight Horn a solid 2 years ago!. Being that you're both Russian, you should link up with Khabib!, I'm sure he could teach you a lot about other aspects of combat, and also he would most definitely benefit from your knowledge in boxing because it's world class, with those hand Khabib would be even scarier.

Brubaker had a solid chin but was rushing in square throwing arm punches, rather than staying balanced, timing his punches and relaxing. If his plan was to put Tim off his game by applying high-pressure tactics, then he needed to establish more head movement, load up, and unleash combinations on the inside rather than rushing forward into the inevitable clinch. Fenech was the master at finding his range first before applying high volume, high-pressure tactics, while Brubaker was often off-balance, standing square on, and throwing arm punches with no effect. Tim does fight somewhat similar to his father, and Ricky Hatton (with the help of the referee and 20,000 drunk screaming Man City fans) demonstrated how to nullify a well-balanced power punching Tszyu. Tszyu senior was no stranger to inside fighting himself - his first fight with Sharmba Mitchell proved Kostya could out-muscle opponents on the inside. So that ought to be next for Tim - his team need to prepare him for smarter fighters who can apply high pressure inside fighting. I can't see Tim fighting backwards under a constant barrage of well placed punches unless he starts working on his inside game.

Kiowhattaisthetruth C The reason Brubaker was coming in squared up is because of Tims head control. He had no clue how to get around it. All he needed to do was to switch southpaw, but perhaps it was not in his arsenal

Andrew Stewart Horn is a big test, but Tim shows maturity in his skill set. His father had zero head movement too if you remember. They don't need much with their style. He does what very few Aussie boxers do. He pays a lot of attention to controlling the space, forcing the fight to be fought on his terms. Very high level fighters like Loma do the same. Horn does it but in a different crash and bash way. I think even at his very early stage in his career, he will be more than a match for Horn.

WHY ISN'T THE WHOLE FIGHT SHOWN!
@kiowhatta14 жыл бұрын
I would like to see Tim move up to 160 and challenge a couple of the PBC poseurs with disgraceful records - impostors like Charlo whose resume wouldn't pass a 10-year-old kiddies boxing competition. Tim would do well to target fights with first Jeff Horn, Zerafa, then work his way up to a fight with Andrade or Charlo. Neither Charlo or Andrade will ever fight anyone their management considers a threat, so an 18-0 untested fighter from Australia with a famous surname might lull them into signing Tim into a championship contract. If he beats a Charlo or Andrade, then he can take a pay-day fight with Canelo or GGG, Derevyanchenko, Munguia, or any other top-five MW after he's had at least 4-5 fights at MW in the states. His body won't allow him to stay at 154 for long, so best to start taking fights with smaller Mws sooner. I can see Tim winning a world title, it's just a question of whether he has been properly prepared for the huge jump in class that often trips up many Aussie fighters when going from domestic to American. Going all the way back to Troy Waters v Terry Norris, Shannon Taylor v Shane Mosely, and the list goes on. How many Australian fighters have padded their records with soft Asian club fighters, then suddenly step up in class for a world title in the states, only to get whipped and sent back? The Hussein brothers did well, Billy Dib ok, Vic Darchiniyian great, Mundine 2 world titles, Katsidis proved to be a real warrior, Daniel Geale a superb boxer, Willie Kickett a fighter who was touted as the next Lionel Rose...In the last ten years, Australian boxing has been in a terrible slump since the ending of the careers of Danny Green, Mundine, Darchiniyian, Geale, Katsidis, Dib, Briggs, Leapai, and a host of prospects. We desperately need to revive our domestic scene in moving away from padding prospects records with Ranee Ganoys, and other last-minute Thai club fighters to pad records. Look at the damned evidence! The only way we can produce fighters of a world standard is to roll back the ridiculous rule in NSW which prevents competition for boys under 14, and not be frightened to put on serious match-ups domestically so that when fighters do travel to the American cauldron and come up against ultra - driven, hardened Mexican, and African - American fighters they're ready and confident.

Agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts on Australia's current boxing scene and lacklustre future. In regard to your wishful plans for Tim, I think the only way in the world all that happens is if he packs up his bags and bases himself in the US, unfortunately. Look at the predominantly US-based Kambosos Jr--perhaps the only bright spot as far as Aussie boxers go. And, you may call the Charlo bros impostors but I think you would agree, for instance, that Jermall's wins over Trout and J-Rock are credible and multiple classes above anything Tim has faced so far. You called it though, facing Horn is a step in the right direction. If Jeff still has the desire, with his pedigree and rugged style, it's definitely going to be a huge test for Tim.
