Oscar Dono and Tim Rajeff enjoy some exciting drift boat fly fishing on the Limay River, near the town of Bariloche. My good friend and world-class caster Tim Rajeff, of Rajeff Sports and Echo Fly Rods, and our Argentinian guide Oscar Dono, of Fly Fishing Patagonia, fished for rainbow trout and brown trout in some of South America's most incredible crystal clear waters. Fortunately, we caught a day with low winds. The usual Patagonian winds can sometimes add a complicated rush: flying my copter above a river flowing at 14,000 CFS is ten times more difficult with wind. We got a lucky break! Argentina truly has some of the most spectacular trout fly fishing in the world. An awesome angler fishing in an awesome environment always yields a fun and entertaining experience, even for the cameraman! Oscar Dono, the guide at the oars (RIP), we all miss you since you passed away in 2017. One of the best guides ever in northern Patagonia.
Tim Rajeff is such an awesome guy. How many guys like this would happily fish a competitor's gear on camera? Just a really down to earth dude.

Love the scenery and clarity of this river, the other thing is people always think fishing is about hooking up and landing but dont realise the science and effort that goes into selecting the right gear and lures. Also you get the good days and not so good days but at the end of the day it's about being in nature and enjoying yourself.

I been watching some flyfishing videos from NZ and the trout there seem so mellow and tired. Even though they're big it's like they don't put up a fight at all compared to these in Argentina. These pull like trains and jump around 4 feet in the air :D Amazing fishing.

You're right, but if you fish in Limay river late season, late April or May, you can capture real monsters Brown Trout, that run from lake Nahuel Huapi to Limay river to spawn. In late season, to catch a brown trout between 15 to 20 pounds is possible and between 10 to 12 pounds is normal. Best wishes

I love fishing this river it's so long that it constantly changes from one place to another, it can be calm and shallow or deep and fast, brown trout are quite hard to find, but there are other species below the Arrorito dam carp is quite common, the fish aren't that big but they're quite flighty it's one of the most beautiful rivers to fish for trout in my country

I used fishing on that river, for several summers. Unfortunately, local and foreigners had put so much stress chasing the fish every day that today isn't the same. Today is all about u$$$$$$$$$$!!!!

those places you mencioned may not be the same now than 15 years ago, but they keep having great fishing anyway and there are also a huge number of insane good waters to fish down here!!! greetings!

Have fished the LeeMY pronounced 6 times on 2 trips there and the sister range PRR outside of San Marteen 45 days over 4 trips. To Patagonia.. the 6 in put stay 28, 26,29, 34,26, large fat brownies. Patagonia River Ranch. Owned me Ken G Jackson Hope WY. Access 5 rivers with 3 sections each No pressure. Best place in the world. Jhh tupelo ms

That’s Tim Rajeff, founder of Echo Fly Rods and Rajeff Sports. He was also a world champion tournament fly caster and the head engineer at G. Loomis fly rods. He could probably cast extension cords and catch fish.
