Tim Miller Reacts to Trump’s Terrifying Plan For a 2nd Term
Jon Lovett and guest host Tim Miller discuss Donald Trump's mind-boggling interview with TIME Magazine, in which he details his plans to use the military to deport immigrants, allow states to monitor women's pregnancies, jack up prices on all imported goods, and much more. Plus, the Biden administration moves to reclassify weed, riot police move in on campus protestors, and Drew Barrymore asks Kamala Harris for a very special favor.

Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us-one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. At a time when it’s increasingly easy to feel cynical or hopeless, former Obama staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor have created a place where people can have sane conversations that inform, entertain, and inspire action. In 2017 they started Crooked with Pod Save America-a no-bullshit conversation about politics. Since then, we continue to add shows, voices, and opportunities for activism, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world. That’s it. End of mission.

@nHautamaki
Ай бұрын
Those aren't conservative talking points, they're liberal talking points. It's just stuff that conservatives were willing to give ground on in order to try to attract liberals away from progressives/leftists that dominated in the FDR-60s era. The ones they succeeded in winning over called themselves 'libertarians' and made up a decent part of the GOP coalition, but they weren't actually very conservative, and ultimately they have been run over by more genuinely conservative factions of the GOP coalition: the religious right and ethno-nationalists chiefly among them. The GOP still needs their money since libertarians tend to be libertarian out of business interest, and thus wealthy potential donors, so they get tax cuts thrown their way in exchange for the big money donations and super pacs, but rhetorically they're practically cast out of the public sphere; except on gun rights. That's something that both libertarians and white nationalists are in favor of, though you can always tell the difference by seeing how they feel about non-whites walking around strapped and how they feel about non-whites getting gunned down by scared cops who are afraid they might be armed. Apart from that, nowadays both parties are going hard after the blue collar vote, so economic populism gets all the airtime.

@nHautamaki

@@jolness1 Tariffs are just anti liberal populism, where populism can be defined as 'policy that doesn't work the way people think it will, but is popular anyway'. It can be done by populist illiberal regimes for conservative or for egalitarian (aka leftist) reasons. 14 HOURS? That seems like a very light sentence. Why did they bother? It's an inconvenience, sure, but there still are people serving life sentences in Texas for smoking pot. Laws were crazy draconian when boomers began smoking...and the jazz musicians faced much worse than we did long before we were born. 14 Hours? So glad the world has changed and you can partake. Enjoy it now--it does not work the same now that I'm old. I'd gladly spend 14 hours in jail to feel high like I did in my 20s. It's legal here in Oregon. Stores sell it every mile or so...Very strong, tho. They give you full scientific facts on every kind--dozens to choose from. Is in indica or sativa, or a combo? Is it this percent or that? Or just all CBDs and no THC? Or super-high in THC? Will it make you paranoid, drowsy, energized, mellow, zonked out, or whatever? And the world's dirtiest trick ever? Important clarification for Lovett, Tylenol is an unscheduled, over the counter drug, like alcohol or tobacco. It's only Schedule III if it has codeine in it, which is schedule III. As a longtime cannabis legalization activist who has worked for two legalization campaigns - Schedule III is not legalization, not even where I live in California. Schedule III is only legal with a doctor's prescription, filled by a pharmacist at a pharmacy, which only lasts for 6 months. All state legal markets are written assuming cannabis is federally illegal, not legal in one specific context only. Many states, CA included, are written to amend if federal law changes, so it's an open question how this change will impact dispensaries. There is a real chance the change to Schedule III will lead to a court case to shut down all existing cannabis businesses. No one really knows, which is why we ALL need to submit public comments when that comment period starts. Schedule III also DOES NOT end people being jailed for cannabis.

"It would be nice if some protestors had signs saying: by the way Hamas sucks too." Top tier what-about-ism there.....
Very refreshing to hear a great discussion. Thank you. Unfortunately, you are not going to reach a large part of our population.
excellent discussion, thank you.
Love the Tim and Jon show!!! 💚💙💛
Great show! Thanks Jon and Tim!❤👍

While both parties have repulsive elements, voting blue's become terribly uncool.
Love Tim so much.
This was great! More of Jon + Tim!
Thank you guys.
Great conversation. Thanks
Two brilliant gay political guyz discussing abortion/IVF; I love this country (no fucking sarcasm here…)
14:27 a “team of Competent Sociopaths”- YES TIM!!! I know I’m more left-wing than you but I love the way you’re using your voice to try to reach conservatives and you’re someone I could absolutely have a drink & friendly debate with! Always enjoy the Bulwark & seeing you on PSA ❤
Tim Miller is a national treasure. His podcasts about the Orange Traitor are spot on. Just love listening to him skewer the Orange Traitor.
Tim is the first person I have heard in a long time who seems to be able to say what I believe: ESH!
Tim goes, “are we gonna do a blunt right now?”😂😂
You two are ying and yang for each other!! Loved your banter. Your differing perspectives are enlightening and encouraging, but so powerful as well. Please do more together. You are both Sooo entertaining and humorous!😂
Enjoyed!
I hope that this is shareable! I've been looking for a breakdown of this subject to share with my 34 yr old nephew. Hopefully, he will share with his friends and so on. ❤️✌️

There should be a "share" button right next to the thumbs up sign. It will give you a number of ways and platforms to share on, but I usually just use the "copy link" option so I can send it to people on whatever platform without having to click through the share process every time.
Great Podcast guys! Thank you.
This interview should be in every OB/GYN’s office in the country.
Very informative and thoughtful discussion - this is what I miss most about politics, being able to talk to each other.. nothing is either/or, nothing is my way or the highway, and there are solutions to problems within reasonable, logical and clear eyed thinking, not all cold blooded and cruel and narrow minded and petty..
Love the episode. I however disagree it is not Hamas that is stopping the ceasefire from happening. It is Israel. Hamas knows if they give up their hostages without a permanent ceasefire Israel will just continue with their mass murdering of innocent Gazans. Hamas has offered all the hostages back if Israel does a permanent ceasefire. Israel rejected it. Oh and Israel has a lot more Palestinians hostages than Hamas has Israeli hostages.
how do the media not call out Trump’s weasel words? he makes no sense!!!

Your media is a disappointment. They never call DJT on his ridiculous and vicious comments
These crossovers are the best!!
Hi Tim, "Competent sociopaths." Good assessment, super scary and ironically funny. Love the dark humor.
As a straight white male dem. I love these two guys. Great episode.
Missouri has legal recreational cannabis. Red states need taxes, too.
This was such a great episode!
Tim was on a heater today, great takes and perspective!
