The moral of the story is Don't Take the Girl...in conclusion, she lived...God didn't take the girl...

While in the Marine Corps, whenever one of my younger Marines' wives would give birth I would give them the assignment to listen to this song while really listening to the lyrics without any distractions. They would always say something like "Staff Sergeant, why would you do that to me?" Because you really should take the time to appreciate the love of your child and that child's mother.

It’s funny, I remember being in the 90s and the older country fans saying “this music now is garbage and not real country” .. in 30 years people will look back and say, “ back then that was real country not like now.. “

Those are the actual people who voted for tyranny over freedom, establishment over a true chance at relative freedom. It is only the heartless that are capable of either monstrously: disliking something so beautiful such as this video and disliking an actual shot at political and economic freedom for our country. This was my moms favorite song. We played it at her funeral and there wasn’t a dry eye out of the 300 some odd people there.

This is one of those song that it doesn't matter how many times you hear it or watch the video itll get you tearing up lol. My wife saw my eyes watering awhile back and was laughing at me till I made her watch the video. Literally less than 20 seconds water works hahaha. Such a great song

That video triggered me (in the actual definition of that word) so bad because I used to be suicidal. that messed me up so bad and now I can't even just listen to the song.

One of my favorite songs. And it was early 90s. Yes this song tugs at the feels in a very poignant way.

I love how this song always makes people laugh in the beginning but cry towards the end. One of the best written songs/stories ever done in my opinion.

Try hearing this song for the first time while your driving at midnight. Lets just say I had to pull over and compose myself before I could continue on my journey home. The song leaves you guessing if she made it but if you watch the video through your tears you see the mom made it. she's the one running to catch up to her son and love of her life.

That song emotionally cripples me. I am the last (by 9 years) of 6 kids so I am The Baby. My mom is still here at 82 but she is starting to fade a little and I dread the day I get that call.

I am 50 years old and grew up in one of the hardest areas of KC (Quindaro) and this song will still have my awesome leaking from my eyes.

I enjoyed our cry together lol. Heard this song first when I was 11 or so. I'm 37 now. And still cry as hard as I did that first time 26 years ago. It's like an entire movie concentrated down to 3 minutes and somehow it's just as emotional! I love country music from the 90s!!!

This song was released in 1994 so it was close to the 80's. Can you react to George Strait Check Yes or No, Amarillo by Morning, Give it Away, Love without End Amen or write this down.

The first time I heard this song was when I was working at a casino in 94. It hit me hard as my first daughter was really ill and had to have surgery to fix her. I cried so much after the song ended my manager came to me and said why don't you go home, come back tomorrow. It was an incredibly hard time. She's all grown and healthy. She and her big brother got to welcome their baby sister into the world, they comforted me as odd as it sounds when baby girl came eight weeks earlier, and what song came in the radio "Don't Take the Girl" she pulled thru her medical issues and is now a mommy. It's amazing what songs you remember exact places you are and needing to see a sign things will be ok. Music of all kinds, short of vulgar rap you cannot understand anything but the swear words. Granted I use FoxtrotUniformCharlieKilo in every other word being around males and Army teach you if you don't use a cuss word every as an adjective for everything you aren't trained properly.
