Luka has been playing good D, for the most part, all year. Pay attention ESPN!! For a change.
The idea that Luka is not a good defender has always been a little overblown to me. It's always been about defensive effort with him. He has the strength and size, he has the defensive IQ. He just has not always consistently given the effort needed (mostly because he's arguing calls with refs instead of getting back). When the chips are down, though? I absolutely trust him to make the needed defensive plays.
I love basketball breakdown, legler you are our saviour

I have to give Luka credit this is why people have been saying they need from him if Dallas can make this work while Irving is still playing at a high level. We can clearly see if you are facing the best defensive unit rn and you dont play defense? Minnesota will advance to the Finals. They have a chance if Doncic can find ways to affect both sides of the court. This is a look at how he can do that and the results are obvious.

Prisoner of the moment. Luka is a great offensive player, but he's still developing his all-around game. Jokic was Joker this year, but even he took 6 or 7 years to reach the skill level we've seen the last three or four years. Luka needed a sidekick like Kyrie to reach his next level. Kyrie is the real difference in the Mavs this year, and he's taking some of the load off Luka, so they can both shine. Just like MJ needed Pippen, and LeBron needed Kyrie to get the Cavs their ring. Now let's see what the Wolves do in response...
@Musso88
27 күн бұрын
But its the same thing with Jokic. Jokic was always a good and very smart defender, but everyone is so slow to give these guys credit that they're just recently admitting it. Now Luka, who has been playing good defense for a minute, will slowly start to get more people begrudgingly admitting that he is as well. Those guys are just way too smart with way too good anticipation and reflexes to not be at least pretty good defenders. The people who call them liabilities just don't know what they're watching.
