Love the scene in Ed Wood where Bill Murray is getting baptized...."Do you reject Satan and all his works?" Murray's reply "Sure" Great Post 👍👍

Ed Wood, his eccentric/oddball life and cast of friends, I love this kind of stuff. I even have the collection of Ed Wood's movies, including this one with Johnny Depp. Thank you for recognizing this oddball genius and his movies which because they are so bad, it's what makes them so good. I LOVE THEM! This video is so well done. When I think of people like Ed Wood, Maila Nurmi, Bela Lugosi....these people who near the end of their lives lived in poverty and were cast aside as Hollywood rejects- yet they left such a cult following in Hollywood history, they should always be remembered, and it's movies like this one, and the stories you tell by this video that will keep them alive and remembered. WELL DONE

I was like 11 or 12 when I first heard about the actual Ed Wood watching an 80's documentary called "It Came From Hollywood" which was all about B-Movies... oh, let's be honest... Z-movies from the 1950's and 60's. I then found the Rudolph Grey autobiography of Ed Wood and sort of became obsessed. This was like 1992. When the Tim film came out, I loved it. Although, even though Johnny Depp does a great job, I always thought Kevin Klein should have played Ed. They look quite a bit alike.

I've been with you guys since Area 51 and the Camo Dudes, I'm slowly catching up, I shouldn't think there's a single video on here that's not up my street. Can't believe your Tim Burton's Ed Wood in B&W locations video didn't get more than 32000 views, deserves way WAY more! Hopefully this comment will help the old algorithm. I see Talks from the Crypt have put their Podcast with you out. Guess what I'm about to start watching🎬🎥🖤♥️ Here's to your future🎉🎉🎉

This is my very first viewing of one of your vlogs, Grimm, and I must say that I'm impressed! Been a fan of Mr. Wood and this film in particular for quite some time, now. I know that many say things similar to this, but your vlog has actually inspired me to rent Ed Wood's last residence, the studio on Yucca. I'm always up for a new adventure, and I've a feeling that this would be just that! ❤. Already started looking into it. Imagine the history, nk! Perhaps I'm romanticizing it, but I think that I'm going to love this next adventure in my life. If I do it, I'll certainly send pics to Grimm, letting him know that he was my inspiration 😊😊🐱

When I moved from the Midwest (where I grew up) to Southern California in 1996 (2 years after the Tim Burton ED WOOD movie came out), I did my own historical search/tour for every known address and landmark I could find, related to the true Ed Wood story. That was before the internet and GPS so I had to use the book "Nightmare of Ecstasy" by Rudolph Grey, the documentary "Flying Saucers Over Hollywood", and a Thomas Guide to figure it all out. And of course, that was also before iPhones and social media, so I never even thought to photograph or document any of it. I was only doing it for my own curiosity and fun. So I love that guys like you are actually documenting these places on video now. Your channel is awesome.

Back in the mid to late 90s, I attended a horror convention called the "Monster Bash" in Monroeville, PA. I had taken several of my Laser Discs with me to get some autographs. One of the discs was an Ed Wood collection and was able to have Conrad Brooks autograph it for me. I told him that I was a huge fan and planning a trip out to CA and was hoping to visit some sites where Plan 9 From Outer space was filmed. To my surprise he gave me his home telephone number and asked to give him a call before I left so he could take more time giving information and directions. When I called him shortly before the trip he gave me a wealth of knowledge of working with Ed Wood and Bela Lugosi and directions to many places used in the movie. Conrad was living in a small town in WV called Falling Waters. I got the impression that he was hungry for conversation because even after over 90 minutes on the phone I got the impression he could have talked another 90 minutes. My wife kept pointing at the time because it was before I owned a cell phone and the long distance charge got pretty expensive. I did manage to visit every site he told me about during our trip there. Sadly Conrad Brooks passed away in 2017.

I rented this movie last night. It was fantastic,it covered Bela Lugosi life so will. I didn't know that the rehab ended, his treatment, because he didn't have insurance. Bela couldn't finish his treatment for he had no money. Ed Wood didn't tell him the true, afraid of hurting his feelings or driving him over the edge. Thank u for recommending this movie I really enjoyed it.

Quality Studios, where Ed Wood filmed Plan 9 From Outer Space, is near where I live. It's behind Gold Diggers Bar, on Santa Monica Blvd, down an alley on the right. You used to be able to see it, but now there is a big security door blocking the view.

Ren here I live in Pomona about 45 minutes southeast of L.A. we have Hollywood come out here and film movies, t.v. shows and commercials. We even have the house that Walter Knott built for him and his wife. And the house that Timmy from Lassi lived when he was growing up here in Pomona. Nitflex just did a movie about Jeffery Dommer the guy that ate people. I myself am an actor, artist, blogger and worked behind the scenes of filming. So come on down take your shoes off and sit a spell, oh one more thing we have an art walk every second Sat. of the month lots of fun here in Pomona.

Great vid! Thanks for posting it! When I was in my mid-20's I would go to the NYFF (New York Film Festival) every year, and on Sept. 24, 1994 (actually it was the 25th as I went to the midnight screening), I saw Ed Wood. It's such a great movie!! Tim Burton came out for a talk before the show started and I'm not absolutely positive, but I swear when I was outside Allice Tully Hall before the show I saw Johnny Depp standing on the second floor smoking a cigarette. Anyway, great vid my friend, keep em' coming! 👍

I remember way way way back, probably during the early 90's, my then gf and I often went to haunt old Hollywood. I'm talking about the old, grimey, dirty, old Hollywood Blvd.. We'd frequent the old hole in the wall clubs, hangouts. Mostly goth/punk/industrial. I still remember Kontrol Factory, cool ass Industrial club with slight hints of bondage. At the time, Dave vanian was fronting a new band called Dave Vanian, and the Phantom Chords. Kinda like Elvis meets Dracula meets Rockabilly-Goth rock type of music. I remember being at some hole in the wall, chilling, smoking clove cigarettes, drinking shots, and in walks Dave himself, and comes to our table and just chatted with us. I remember the door guy, some young dude from the UK, whom we found out some time later passed away unexpectedly. He'd always ask for cigarettes, or cloves whenever we'd drop by to chill. Man, those were some crazy honest times then. Imagine, no Ipads, no mobile phones, no google maps, nothing like we have now. can't tell you how many times we'd get lost, and no phone in hand. We'd check out the old poster and book stores, old props stores, the one store where they sold toys, and costumes, all old Hollywood. I haven't been to Hollywood Blvd in a very very long long time. probably very different now.

You mentioned bricks. So here goes, in Los Angeles in the early 1900s there was a huge brickyard that made many of the bricks that you can sometimes spot at various LA historic sights. There will be a 'SIMONS' embossed on the brick. The simons brickyard was located on the south end of montebello where it borders city of commerce. Today the bricks are definitely collectors items if you can find one loose somewhere. There are Simons bricks if you can spot them at Disneyland, specifically POTC.

Boardner’s is one of my Hollywood haunts! You should definitely get dressed up and take Jessica to dinner at Musso & Frank’s! It’s a Hollywood classic! Many, many celebrities have dined there over the years (Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe to name a few) and it’s been used for film shoots over the years. I know some scenes for Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ were shot there, just to name something fairly recent. The steaks are quite pricy, but they’re so good (I recommend the filet mignon) and it’s worth going just for the nostalgia of the place and a romantic dress-up date night with Baby Ghoul. Make a reservation! You should research Musso & Frank’s a bit and do a whole video on the place! 🌹

@grimmlifecollective without a doubt what a great tribute that you have made this video in black and white as a good tribute to the great Ed Wood and Tim Burton, it was very respectful of you both for the artists and for us fans, even the DVD extras are In this format, there is only one way to see Ed Wood, Bela Lugosi and the best of cinema and it is in black and white. This is an elegant format that has been forgotten, let's fight so that it does not happen. Even Tim Burton took the trouble that everything related to press, trailers, photos and everything related to the film was in black and white. Thanks to you and the always beautiful @witchydame for everything Grimm and everything Spooky, as I always say serious videos for serious people, thank you so much. One of my fave movies! I actually saw it in the theater when it was released in the early 90s. It was considered a box office flop at the time. I loved its offbeat, quirkiness! Still do!
