Tile Etching - What is the best paint to use? Atomstack A5 pro - Lightburn

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I wanted to see if it matters what spray paint you use to etch ceramic tile. Found out crystal clear will not etch at all. The black spray paint came out the best, followed by the amerimax white gutter paint.
I used the Atomstack A5 pro set at 80% power and a speed of 2000 mm/sec.
I used an image imported into Lightburn and then traced the image and pasted the traced. The layer was set to fill in the tracing.
There were some inconsistencies in the etching and I believe this was due to the order of the etch. It would have turned out better if these were etched as an image, but would have taken longer.
As always - Thanks for watching and please comment if you have any questions or comments.

I truly want to thank you for doing this test. I just received an A5 and this is going to be my go-to for my new engraver.

Thanks for sharing the research. We'll be playing with this on an A5 Pro soon.

The more I use the black the better I like it.

Have you had issues engraving on wood? Like inconsistent power? Or is it most likely the image?

@@MrBears1024 Sorry I missed this message. The grain of the wood will cause inconsistency. It’s always trial and error for me to get the right speed and power settings. Most of my laser use in working with painted metals to burn off the paint, then etch the metal.

Don't use paint at all...Rubbing alcohol and titanium dioxide powder mixed 50/50 and sprayed on works better and cleans up with water.
