I've welded pipe for 35yrs. and used the Tig method for about 22yrs of that time , I never ran the Tig Rig in the down hill method that your welder is using. Also walking the cup doesn't always mean faster weld times, I've worked with a few older Tig welders that free hand everything and can keep up if not surpass in a production setting that I would not work on that type of job or fabshop.

I second that. I walk the cup but know people that can free hand really well, and I never run down hill

If you run hot enough the downhill ,lay wire for roll welding is definitely the way to go. Fast and hot then slam the big rod into it.

very good but in position it is not the same as underhand. under hand we are all good 😊

Damn I miss a manipulator which allows you to weld flat always. Positional welding is a thing of the past with this machine.
