FM12 is the best so far. A lot of wonderkid that actually had good impact immediately. Match engine is good. The team, player instructions is good as well.

Social tab is probably my favourite feature of all time, weird how you think it was pointless. My favourites were 2001/2002 (first game I owned), 2003/2004 (where I bought Vidic and Evra and they ended up going to Man U in real life later on. Darren Kenton, Diego, Ronaldo, Cherno Samba and Rooney were so good. Then Ronaldo rejected a contract and signed a lower contract to join Dortmund??) And football manager 2017, my longest ever save where I started unemployed and ended up getting promotions through the football league before joining Villa. Was due to keep playing but save glitch (my fault) ended the game. Looking forward to starting another long save in 2023. Over 20 years since my first game 😄

CM 03/04 is perfection for me. Especially playing with a small club. FM 2007 is great too.

Championship Manager 97/98 is an all time classic, I use to love coming home from School and loading that up. It was so addictive and the most realistic Game at the time, you could buy cheap unknown players and they would have brilliant stats. I remember Bakayoko, Svindal Larsen........

03/04 was a classic tbf, always used to sign Lucio on that one for about 10 million at the start of the game, Jan Kristiansen the Danish winger was another good player who could be picked up for peanuts on that version. My personal favourites were Fm08 & FM 2013 as i played those versions a lot, although granted theirs a few versions i never played.

i played since cm2 97/98. cantona and those! amazing times, shearer was very good then

Loved this Jamie!! Kinda makes you think back to all the older titles and just realise how the game has come on! For me though fm20 top of the board. Not sure if it’s coz we have had way more time to play it this year or I’ve just enjoyed it more than others. But CM2 and Fm20 top my list. Just my opinion.

FM17 is the best, still paying now, anyone have updated squads?

I played a lot of fm 16, the problem i have with it is that the Right and Left backs are op! Is fm17 the best one?

@@Foxo-Matti12 fm 17 is all good except too many misses from penalties. They almost feels like freekicks.

CM 99/00 was my favourite for me players like Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Figo, Zindane. Then you had Saviola & Pablo Aimar being amazing youngsters

I agree with most of this. I personally enjoyed fm2005 and would have had it higher - my favourites are 01/02, 03/04, FM 2005 - 2017 and 2020 are both very good though. I'll be honest I didn't play 02/03 and between 08 and 10 I never played Good job though with the list 👍

12, 18 and 20 are the best for me and it’s not even close. But that’s just my personal preference. 14 also deserves a shout actually, I might put that above 12

Nothing will EVER beat champ manager 03/04

As much as I worship CM0102 and CM0304, FM12 is I think the pinnacle of the series. Perfect balance between proper simulation and arcade.

I started same time as you fella, they are all the greatest of all time. There the same game year on year, but just improvements each year.. the Xbox version I’ll give you tho...

few months late, but for me my top were 13 and 17. Started with 08, so don't remember much of it or 09. FM16 was the one with the broken match engine that was crossing fest, which is why I would have put it in never play again. didn't buy 18 but heard good things, 19 was only okay, I didn't like how the ME ended up. 20 only played a few hours of recently, seemed better then 19 but still eh on the ME, so sticking with FM17. FM17 ME feels so amazing after fighting with the 19 engine. Strikers feel far more fluid, the 2D still has the stands and such, the variety of crosses, etc.

2007 is a fond one for me, I remember taking Scarborough through a few promotions and doing everything to sign a 12 year old from PSV. Never saw a younger player on CM/FM

In CM5, the worst game of the lot, Ajax had a 12-year-old. The worst thing was that he didn't get any better. But that's if you played the darn thing long enough.

FM12 was great. Still playing FM17 today, my computer isn't meant to be for gaming & that's the latest FM that runs smoothly (tried 22 recently & it took an age to simulate) So many possibilities with the editor, currently I'm playing my tweaked version the 'European Super League' database by Darthfurion of Fmscout, tons of fun.

@@nasibovis Can't remember exactly & there is no sticker on the outside. A HP Pavillion model, basically an office PC with integrated UHD graphics chip up to 2GB VRAM shared memory. No graphics card, HDD, 4GB RAM. Still running Windows 10. IK I should really upgrade to SSD & buy more RAM but I think I'm better off waiting/saving for a new PC instead. I'm content with the XBSX right now but I may move to PC gaming in future, SP games with mods is really next level on PC.

FM12 was by far my favourite

r.i.p. to the multitude of championship manager games that didnt get in the list.. i have been playing every single championship manager game and football manager game every single year since they started for around 30 years (i even had the original championship manager on atari) so i feel i have a bit more of a professional opinion than most when it comes to these games lol, and for me the best championship manager game was championship manager 5 and then the best football manager game for me is 2010 ive put way more hours into that than any of the others. just thought id ad my opinions and thoughts as a veteran player. :)

for me the tactics was better in fm 12 than now

Can’t remember which fm it was in or which one it disappeared on but I miss the head to head option my favourite fms!!!. me/my bro and my mates used to love settling debates on who’s side was stronger and the best by creating our own league and importing our current single player teams. Can u still do this???? Or I am just being thick???

You missed CM5... thats probably for the best. The game, Eidos' first and only after the split from SI, was horrible. Transfers were easy, no one retired and it was just bad. In one save, I had Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Tevez, Torres, Messi, CR7, Rooney, Zlatan, Kompany, Buffon and Cannavaro all playing for Man United. And having all of those players on my wage bill didn't criple the club. More money just kept on coming...

I started with FM2005, then 2006, after 2007, 2008 then I stopped playing any, which one do you recommend me to start with again ? great video and thanks 👍

CM01/02 is and always will be absolutely brilliant. I didn't actually like 03/04. Didn't like the interface, players would always get super low ratings if you didn't play them in their perfect position and this coming 2 years after 01/02, it was always a tough sell to me when I could just keep playing 01/02. I liked 07 a lot, that felt different. I played 10 an absolute ton, that will always be one of my favourites. And so will 15. I go back to 15 all the time. I thought the match engine was terrific. Only trouble was that it felt that you'd have a bunch of players would stay their entire career with one club versus others who'd be bought and sold every season. I didn't like 16 much. I wanted to. But I didn't like the match engine. Felt that you had to play 3-5-2 to be successful, so many goals from crosses. And now I'm onto 20. Liking it at the moment. The level of detail is phenomenal. I like that players don't always just stick with one club and that the best players do move around a lot more. Still feel like there are a few too many goals from crosses though.

Yeah Not a lot there I can disagree with Jamie, I started back in the "premier Manager" days on the Megadrive. FM15 was for me the time when I moved from a yearly purchase to a bi-yearly purchase.... I looked at FM15, same really with 17 and 19 and struggled to justify the cost of a new edition. But, what that did mean is that FM14, FM16 and FM18 are my most played games in my Steam library, let alone the FM series as a whole. FM 20 I'm already at 200+ hrs juggling work, wife and toddler so this one is on course tobe in the high 500's too.

I started the very first championship manager 91... On the amiga... Peter hallstrom Swedish.. I think he was a made up player... But he invented the dmc anchor man role... I kept him until he was 38..he was unbelievable

I don't agree with 02/03 being "Never play again", aside from that I think your tier list is good.

Why no 00/01 ? For me, very similar to 01/02, as lovely to play with the old engine

The transition from CM01/02 was pretty rough. You also missed CM4 which to be honest was a complete trainwreck

what was wrong with it? I thinkkkk i might have bought it and there was errors where i couldnt train my players perhaps? I cannot remember exactly but i swear that was my issue with it, it looked like it might be a great game too sadly

Only played 2008, 2011 and 2020. Wish I got the one from when Fergie just retired. Just so I can make United's history better. But never mind.

FM2005 match engine was certainly not ahead of its time. LMA manager 2005 has a far better match engine than even FM 2020 has.

I think it's simple, if you fall in love with a save like you have Chester in a version, it can easily become your favourite game despite the game itself.

Just to note, regen faces exist since FM 2005; which is still my favourite game. It runs horribly on newer machines though. I also remember FM 2006 had a terrible match engine, almost to the degree that the game played itself with random goals and whatnot.

FM15 had way too many goals, but I loved it anyway. There was a nice variety of tactics that could work. FM11 was the other version I played extensively, but it had a serious near post corner exploit that would win you any league with poor players. CM3 was my original version, and it was awesome at the time. FM20 would be the best version by far if not for a frustrating match engine that holds it back. Nevertheless, it's tough to go back and play old versions once you get used to having updated databases and more player roles.

FM15 was my first and I agree the goals in the game was ridiculous, playing a 4-2-2-2 was so OP you'd win games scoring minimum 4 goals

How about a tier list for all your fav tactics from all CM/FM's? I think my fav out of all was diablo! Cant remember which CM it was for it was so long ago but was a game changer!

The ones I played are CM 03/04, FM 05, FM 08, FM 12, FM 14, FM 17, FM 19, and FM 20. CM 03/04 is my childhood and sometimes I still play it today. FM 05 only tried for a bit. FM 08 is my 2nd manager game, and enjoy it so much. FM 12 only play briefly, but at least enjoyable until I got FM 14. FM 14 is my favorite of all on my list. Been playing for years until getting FM 20. For 17 and 19 I played the demos, but my pc weren't up to spec so I can't enjoy the experience. FM 20 has been a good experience. Jumping from playing 14 for so long, it's challenging and stressful, but the roster is more updated compared to the other games. For me then: 1. 14 2. 08 (still playing) 3. 03/04 (still playing) 4. 12 5. 20 (still playing) 6. 05 7. 19 8. 17

I've just started playing my first football sim. I've got it from steam. I notice it's not in this list. It's cm2007 I've found it ok. Missing a few features. How was this as football sim ? I've also bought cm2010 but not played it yet.

Championship manager 02 took 4 minutes to load?. You have no idea about load times lol. Try playing championship manager 93, EVERY season took between 45 minutes to an hour to load!

That's not the point. I don't feel like i need to go back and play the games, it wouldn't feel right because i'd be comparing them to later version. CM 01/02 is the first i played. Would be unfair to rate the others.

You are either too young or not a real CM fan beacause you havent present Championship manager 97/98 in your list.
