Tick Talk | Episode 01: Bell & Ross | MR PORTER

Ойын-сауық

Tick Talk is a brand new video series from MR PORTER that takes a closer look at some of the world’s best watch brands.
In our first episode, watch critic Mr Robin Swithinbank focuses on Bell & Ross, a French company that takes a subversive, experimental approach to watchmaking. Beginning with a mid-naughties icon, the square-cased BR-01, Mr Swithinbank talks us through some of the brand’s greatest watches - many of which are now available to buy on MR PORTER.

Thanks for the Video! Excuse me for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Dinanlinson Energy Source Approach (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for taking your penis length to the next level minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my old buddy Taylor got excellent results with it.

Good episode, but take it easy on the background music - its competing too much with the talking for attention.

cool concept. keep these coming. Although a beautiful watch- I have never liked it when there are actual numbers on the dial. It is just a personal choice. I would much prefer tick lines or roman numeral.

the problem with these brands like B&R or IWC is that Tissot uses exact same basic movements and cost a fraction of a price conclusion: it's pointless to pay over 2k usd for a watch with ETA movement.

Quite a bit of nonsense. The "Flieger-Beobachtungsuhr" watches are obviously not WW1 but WW2. The Baumuster B is a German design, and Stowa, IWC and Laco (the original manufactures) still produce them. Bell & Ross are just ripping of the original design. The whole story about soldiers using pocket watches with soldered on lugs applies to totally different types of field watches. However... I tend to like the air-plane instruments inspired line of BR-01 watches...

It depends on what you mean by expensive. Bell & Ross is a fine watch brand. You'd expect a high price but not that high of a Rolex Submariner. I believe some brands at Mr Porter don't deserve a high price like the new LA kid that has his jacket palm painted and charging almost 13,000 pounds for it. But not Bell & Ross, it is a high quality brand that deserves to be worn by someone who like it of course. It's really worth it to spend your money on this one man.

Tudor has many in house movements for reasonable price points, same with Nomos. But yes many name brands use off shelf movements. You can buy in a Sinn watch for half the price of a Bell and Ross and gain a more durable and more technical watch with the same movements just better modified and less money. Tudor has some in house movement watches in the 3-4K range with modified Rolex movements, since Rolex is the parent company.
