UPDATE: McCranie Warning Systems fixed this siren just a few hours ago. The old blower motor fried, so they swapped it out for a new one.

@@Mr.Speedcat It looks like it was just smoke, but there could have easily been a small fire inside the motor, that could not be seen.

Least the chopper survived. Must of smelt wonderful after the blower blew up.

Who knew that the Thunderbolt 1000T's could also do a firecall* *siren damage may occur.

2:00 Day 91 with a 90 day warranty from the shop...

Exactly how the silverstreet's 1003 died but the chopper motor

Thunderbolt 1000T going up from Chopper Level 5.5 to Chopper Level 6.5

He started blowing to tell everyone he wasn’t feeling well, and then started screaming higher pitched because the pain was getting worse😂

Lol, the actual reason it gets higher is cos the blower takes up energy but when the blower isn't on the chopper can speed up cos there is nothing taking up power. Think of it like lag cos there is too much crap going on

Odds are the drive belt was fine for a long time and just failed after day 10 years, but that makes it unique vs direct drive

@@OKARWXbrandon but it's less service cost, but also at the end of the day they have lives to save, and if something got stuck in the roots it would be better to burn through a belt than the motor not be able to trun, so i guess belt drive is the best way to go

Also, they are tested every Saturday for issues like that, but you make a good point, better a belt then a motor

That is a crazy! I bet it was only of those single phase motors that i guess just had enough. Good thing jeb fixed it up.

I like the ambience after it broke and started being less loud.

We still have thunderbolts in Michigan nothing beats them they put those new sirens most of everywhere we still have a few left when you hear that Sound you know to take cover unless to test there iconic better than any air raid siren in the world besides the Crisler Siren

1:59, 😬 This what major bearing failure is on the blower after likely burning a belt out, blower motor was swapped later on.

Oh my gosh! That is insane!

holy cow! that definitely is not good. It's probably the blower that was the issue, not the chopper. The chopper seemed fine throughout the test. good video, glad you were able to catch this.

Yeah, something is definitely wrong with the blower. It cuts off right as the smoke starts and doesn’t sound right for the remainder of the test

I was just there at that siren I did not see smoke because I was at another siren when this siren was blowing out smoke. I have three sirens to monitor. And report those back to Cleveland County Emergency Management via an Amateur Radio Club.

This happened to a thunderbolt in my town. it's been replaced with a T-128 though. I saw it catch fire and could smell the blower... I was out for my resese time. the statewide drill was why.

Are there any other Thunderbolts or classic sirens in Oklahoma you know of? I want to go see some. I love Southside okc

There is a possibility it could happen by the Hurricane's blower condition in Milwaukee, only time will tell.

That was just smoke no flames in sight, while I agree it’s not good it didn’t really “catch fire” just blew out some smoke

Called dispatch for Moore PD to tell them it was smoking but all fire if any was there is out fully

It could be the belt because I think I heard it running still when they got close? If it was motor failure it probably would've tripped a reley.

1:52 thunderbolt is OK 2:03 chopper motor, burnt 2:05 motor exploded, and started to deep fry

You can really here that blower running hard lol, that's one interesting incident.

I think a burned belt because the blower still sounded like it was running but except without the belt running, that's why the blower changed tone because the pressure difference of air I'd assume, kind of like a burned broken belt inside a vacuum cleaner.
