  This happened to a thunderbolt in my town. it's been replaced with a T-128 though. I saw it catch fire and could smell the blower... I was out for my resese time. the statewide drill was why.

  It has since been fixed, blower motor was swapped after the old blower motor burned itself out.

  This siren just recently got manually tested and it still spins right up to speed and believe it or not, THE ROTATOR STILL WORKS!!

  This is a single head Sterling Model M, not an N-5. The N-5 never existed (or the M-3), and these sirens are called the Model M in all of Sterling's official documentation.
