Very nice Mikko, and a practical use for old rope. I'm amazed that 1 tuck for the splices would hold it together, and I can see where more tucks would show on the top of the mat. Going to make one of these for my house.

I usually add a drop of colorless glue in the splice.

Yet another great video! I personally have a few variations around the house. I always try to use second hand rope that has bit of history to it, I currently have some old rope from the last fishing drifter. I plan to make this into a mat also, maybe attach a label to tell a story?

Clear, precise instructions. Makes it easier to follow, Mikko is there any chance you could put a video up on how to make a rope quiot (ring) finishing off I find difficult. Thank you.

Hi, I have just lost my dear husband, who sad quite a lot of rope pieces laying around the sheds, I have never tried working with rope, but if I made a round mat like yours, could I tighten it up and make it into a bowl? Lee.

Sorry about your husband but his memory will live on in the bowls you will make. The thump mat is easy to tighten up into a bowl.
