An author on NY Post wrote an entire article claiming that Gen Z is outraged over the thumbs up emoji being “passive aggressive” because of a Reddit post they saw and cited in the article. The Reddit post has only roughly 100 upvotes at the time of this writing. Fox News’ late night show host Greg Gutfeld then put the NY Post article on blast, only showing the headline without context of the article and further claiming that the entirety of Gen Z was outraged over the emoji. If you didn’t know, now you do. This is a media operation to generate views and stir up controversy when there is NO STORY. Spread the word to EDUCATE others!

I'm surprised they didn't mention, "using complete *punctuation* is passive aggressive," which is bull$hit. I was a kid when live internet chat rooms and instant messengers were new and exciting, and we were all sitting at PCs with a full keyboard in front of us. While a lot of people used lazy shortcuts, I actually used punctuation, capitalization, and proper spelling. I still do, even when texting. Maybe it's just the writer in me, but I've always felt that good written communication requires concise writing.

Saw this storm in a piccolo cup on Twitter. The "story" on Reddit was one comment by someone, it has about 100 likes and a few replies. Hardly representative of a whole generation and definitely NOT newsworthy.

I survived because of preparedness and skills. I am even better prepared now. Thank goodness no one is offended by the emoji.
