Bassem Youssef breaks down ‘passive aggressiveness’ between Israel and Palestine

Egyptian Comedian Bassem Youssef breaks down the “passive aggressiveness” occurring between Israel and Palestine in the pursuit of peace.
In a wide-ranging and at times confronting interview with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan, Mr Youssef broke down elements of the unfolding Israel-Hamas war.
Mr Morgan and the comedian agreed that as the conflict has continued the “genuine will” on both sides for peace has not existed.
Mr Youssef stressed that he cannot speak for Palestinians, but the official stand of the Palestinian National Authority is that they are happy with 22 per cent of the land.
“The thing is you cannot just say ‘let’s just talk about peace’ then take away my land,” he said.

Thats why its refreshing to see them giving pro-Palestinian representatives without trapping them.

    Anger is important to set boundaries especially in toxic relationships. It’s important to use it and remain calm . Allow it to indicate correct action but don’t allow it to de stabilise you and make you over react leading to regret and shame. Control is everything . You will see that when people are being passive aggressive but you don’t over react they become unstuck which can be very satisfying.

In this interview Bassam said when he received first invitation to Piers Morgan show, he was he hesistant because it might reflect on his career. The authorities of the British Mandate over the Land of Israel established the name "Palestine" as the name of the land. The name that was accepted by the Jews - "Land of Israel" - they relegated to brackets and initials only, to say "Palestine (Ai)". The Jews generally did not like this, but had no choice but to use the name "Palestine" as well. Thus, For example, in the name of "Anglo-Palestine Bank", later "Bank Leumi Israel". The use of the name "Palestine" was special for the Jewish residents. The Yishuv's volunteers for the British army in World War II were called "Palestinians". Although they asked to be called Hebrew or Jewish soldiers, whenever the Palestinian volunteers from the country were mentioned, it was clear that the reference was mainly to the Jews. And so the Jewish inhabitants of the land were "Palestinians".

    One thing to mention. The great deal that Arafat got, wasnt that good. It was the best deal offered, but if you read the details, no state would accept the conditions. Yes it had some improvements for Palestinians, but it was not a deal between partners, it was best load of scraps offered to that point. It was also structured in a way that any right wing admin in Israel could easily derail it. That it was a good deal for the Palestinians is an ahistorical take. It could have been a average (at best) start, but you cant blame Arafat for running away from that deal. Could the camp David plan been a start of a reasonable solution? Yes. But by itself it was a half measure with no gaurd rails for the Palestinian side. The deal offered by Olmert was actually not awful, but by that time Likud administrations had commited transgressions that left the PA distrustful. Now Iran is powerful, the right in Israel is powerful and the peace camps are weak. Until the International community forces it, there wont be peace.

  • @jesan733

    @jesan733

    7 ай бұрын

    Thirty years have passed, one generation lost, because the deal wasn't good enough? Well, the palestinians can waste more generations, and each time they do, the deal they are able to get will be worse. The international community in the end will never support dysfunctional muslim dictatorships and terror over a high-functioning non-muslim democracy. I think the palestinians eventually will be pushed out and Israel will have the land from the river to the sea. Then there will be much coping and seething for a few generations until it eventually dissipates. This is how peace will be created. It's far from ideal, but it is what it is.

    🚨⚡️📣 Hey you! Do you condemn armed Palestinian resistance? The two English proverbs outlined below revolve around the idea that different people can see the same thing in completely opposite ways. 1st proverb, "one man's trash is another man's treasure," says that something someone considers useless might be highly valuable to someone else. It's about how people have different opinions on what's good or bad. On the other hand, the 2nd proverb, "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter," it's highlighting a similar concept. The label "terrorist" or "freedom fighter" depends on which side you're on. This saying suggests that a person labeled as a terrorist by one group could be seen as a heroic freedom fighter by another group, depending on their viewpoint and context. So, in different contexts, these proverbs highlight the notion that people can see the same thing in contrasting ways. Whether it's an item's value or a person's role, perspectives vary, and what might seem negative from one angle could be positive from another. The correlation lies in the understanding that judgments are often shaped by individual viewpoints and the context in which they occur. How about Jews who were forced to flee from Arab states before and after the creation of Israel. In fact, these refugees were largely forgotten because they were assimilated into their new homes, most in Israel, and neither the United Nations nor any other international agency took up their cause or demanded restitution for the property and money taken from them.

    @@sopiananwari2766 The same can be said about Arab countries and giving the Palestinians some land. There is more empty land in the Arab world than in Europe. I bet they will not have them; they know what the Palestinians are like, they have caused civil unrest wherever they live. More Palestinians have been killed by other Arabs and each other than Israel will ever do. FACT. Check the statistics. Will the Arabs then allow the 900K jews to go back to their homes, bussinesses and be compensated; after all they were natives to these countries? I don't think so. Let's not pretend, this has nothing to do with a piece of land; This has nothing to do with the plight of the Palestinians and more to do with having a country in the M. East that is not Islamic. The Palestine 'cause' is just an excuse. If they cared about the Palestinians; they would advise them to stop fighting and use the mil$$ in aid money to build a peaceful and prosperous nation in Gaza and the West bank - that is if they can agree on is to be in power; and not kill each other. They should be grateful to Israel for stopping from that. If you are such a humanitrian, what about the people of Syrian, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia - They all have civil wars and civilians casualties?

I salute Morocco for acknowledging its own people regardless of faith, colour and ethnicity. Thank you for your post. The same can be said about a lot of young Palestinians, especially the successful ones with lives wherever they are currently living. But someone continues to stoke the fires; after all it is only the children if Israel and Palestinians who are dying. Not Iran or other countries vying for power in the area. The fault lies with the Palestinians not taking a stand to co-exist with Israel, forge an economic alliance and grow together, I bet that economy would be the strongest in the region , out shadowing the ones who only rely on oil revenue. I suppose this would not suit a lot of countries including the current superpowers.

    . I do not intend to conduct this discussion by correspondence in the comments. I stated a fact. In any case, long before Islam, before Christianity and certainly before the invention of the 'Palestinians', this piece of land belonged to the Jews. The archeology and the Bible testify to this in all parts of Israel. The Romans gave this area the name 'Palestine', as a rite of humiliation for the Jews, after the great revolt of the Jews against the Romans. A revolt that ended in losses and the 2000-year exile of the Jews. It has nothing to do with the Arabs who came there as migrant workers, two thousand years later. Since the Romans expelled the Jews from their country, there was no country in this area, but a region of land that passed between empires. There were remnants of Jewish communities there, like in Hebron and Safed and very few Arabs, who came from the homeland of the Arabs - the Arabian Peninsula. The rest of the Arabs arrived there as migrant workers in the beginning of the 20th century. Their surnames indicate their origin. Which is mainly from the neighboring Arab countries. Egypt and Syria. So the Kushan, the deed of sale, belongs to the Jews... this is the starting point, the background to the whole story.@@theblackwolf5938

    @@DBAUG So your argument is that the jews owned this land thouthands years ago and so they have the right to every piece of it regardless of Palestinians co-existence in 1940s . Now tell me, imagine if someone knocked your doors in the dead of the night and told you" I used to live in your house two thouthands years ago and so I own this house and I have called the police and next day the police stop by your house and told you, he is right. Get out of his house, the house belongs to him (With no jurisdiction or evidence) just historical narrative. If you were the man who kicked out of his land/house. What would be your feeling? What would be your reaction, honestly? I don't think that it's wise to invade other people nations based on some historical narrative or religious belif. @@DBAUGThe notion that Romans gave the name Palestine as an insult to the Jewish people isn’t true. Ancient Greeks documented a land called “Palestine” which connected Phoenicia and Egypt. The Canaan civilisations (which encompassed numerous ethic groups) were there the same time or even before Israelites. Modern day descendants of the ancient Canaan people are Lebanese and Palestinians as they were not expelled, rather many converted and assimilated (both Christianity and Islam). In any case, arguing that you have the right to displace native inhabitants based on what happened 3000+ years ago is ridiculous.
