The ones in the older competitions were usually loaded with shot or shingles, so the weight did rest in the bottom portion of the kegs. I don't know if the new kegs will be loaded the same way, though.

ABS pipe. (Black pipe). 12’x3”diameter. Get 4, + 2 couplings, ABS glue, 2 ten gallon buckets, a bags of quick dry cement and a level. Home depot has a flat delivery fee $60 go to the pro-desk to order it. Place one pipe in the bucket, fill with half a bag cement add water mix it so all the cement is wet, use the level to make sure the pipe is straight. Let dry. Glue the second pup on top of that. Repeat. Now you have two free standing poles.

Easiest way to make your stands work without going backwards is to get a piece of 3/4 pvc pipe, cut it to the width of your yolk uprights and run the rope through it. They’ll still be flaccid…uh, floppy, but it’ll give a straight line and keep the uprights the right distance apart. Also, it’s so encouraging to finally see something I’m better at than you. ( making a weight for height rig, not the throwing. You still got me there).

U could get a larger diameter pipe that would just fit inside the square tube of the apparatus u had it tied to attach chain across the top then u could slide the pipe inside the square tube let it drop all the way to the ground and then to raise it all u would have to do is lift it to height desired and place a pin in the square tube to stop the pipe from falling back down that way u could adjust it to the height desired in seconds this would make it way sturdier and more convenient just an idea
