Here in north eastern New Brunswick, we were able, until the 80', to take cod as I can see in this video. But since those days, there is no more cod. This is forty years ago now. The cod is not back. Even if the scientists at Fisheries and Oceans Canada had told us that there was no need to worry about cod disappearing. Over fishing by the big boats is the cause. Hope it doesn't happen to you over there. Thanks for the nice video. Good luck.

Always a cause for concern, hopefully it'll never come to that here. Our fisheries are well managed to prevent overfishing by quite a large margin. However, our world is changing that has us pretty concerned.

@@EISAlaska Thanks for the reply. Very nice video, by the way. Hope cod doesn't go decreasing as it did here, in North eastern New Brunswick. And May God protect you and your loved ones, when you go fishing. Have a nice day

@@EISAlaska As long as our elected officals '' dont let'' the other countries come in to fish it should stay good fishing. Africa s highjacking the oil ships was because their countryman took bribes and let other countries come in and keep anything they caught and wiped em out.
Thank you guy’s for the awesome episodes and taking us along! We look forward to this each time we see you post something. We have been out of cell service for sometime since we are getting close to our elk season opening for archery. So we are catching up with you!

Matt, you're one of those guy's who could be 17, 30, or somewhere in-between. Regardless, you are one helluva deckhand, probably one of the best I've seen. And a great balance to that livewire brother of yours... ha! Much respect to your entire family.

You guys need a chute from the back area that goes right into the middle tank. You could drop the fish from the back and they would slide into the tank and you wouldn't have to handle them twice.

Awesome fishing dudes
Len I like your system for tensioning your leader. You're like a machine(11:46)when you drop those fish off and reset your leader. I'm assuming that's a bungee by the way it wiggles. Speaking of wiggle always like to see those tips wiggle with those big cod. Oh Matt don't you hate it! (2:09)lol. whether sure started off nice but didn't turn out too bad, nice job guys! thanks for the watch,

What is the ring and line on Matt's left hand jigging motor, never noticed it before. Love the videos, keep it up.
@EISAlaska
2 жыл бұрын
That's a tension line, basically just twine running through a pulley with a weight on the other end, helps to stretch the line out.
Really interesetd to hear the brand/model of gloves you use? Imagine they are pretty tough stuff. In the winter do you wear inner gloves to keep fingers from freezing?
@EISAlaska
2 жыл бұрын
We wear Atlas Vinylove 620 (orange) and 660 (blue). We don't use liners, if your gloves are dry your hands stay warm with activity.

How long did this haul take in total? This is remarkable!
Somebody probably has already asked, but what are the small reels that you have on the opposite side of the boat with line across the deck to the automated reels?
@EISAlaska
2 жыл бұрын
We clip that line to the leader when we pull the fish onboard. It stretches the leader across the deck and helps prevent it from piling up in a big tangle.
Hello friend, how are you guys, your work and interesting, thanks for sharing your fishing techniques, I would like to know what is the name of an electric fishing system and how much each one costs

Why not run long lines for cod also?

There is a separate quota for longline gear. It is federaly managed and broken into two seasons. The "A" season that open Jan. 1st and the "B" season opens Sept.1st.

You mean you don’t just drop a line and start reeling them in😳. The first 8 min of your video is how I fish. A lot of bait, a lot of waiting but no catching. Must be nerve wracking when you have to pay bills and there’s nothing on the line. Probably how I felt when cold fronts came in, being an AC contractor. Came around nicely tho
@EISAlaska

Yea, that's the truth. Sometimes its good fishing and then the bite drops off the next day, never know.
