Throttle Blipping On A Motorcycle | Riding Tips #10

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video we talk about a fairly simple technique called Throttle Blipping. It's common amongst racers, amateur and professional where you make down shifting smoother. This can also be used on the road and in this video we go over some situations where you might want to use it.

    I think you are brilliant! I watched your mod 2 videos, especially on roundabouts and I passed A licence mod 2 with perfect ride, no faults! Thank you for your brilliant videos. Your voice is so calming and professional and I just think your videos are brilliant. The best out there. 👌

    As a learner I always seem to downshift in block where and when should I be using sequential downshift. Love your videos really helpful.

    Definitely an important technique. If you don't use it, changing down produces very a very jerky ride. Not pleasant. Finally got my full license a month ago (yay!!!) so no longer on the 125. So happy!

    Blipping good for extending your chain and sprokets life span. Engine braking is really good but if not in a desperate need to stop quick blipping is very chain friendly, so good on your pocket.

    Thank you so much for explaining, when people talk about it they don’t explain that problem of going straight to the throttle after blipping. I thought you had to but no lol

    I been practicing so I’ve clutch in throttle off at the same time then keep holding the clutch and blip and downshift I sometimes hit it right because it sounds so smooth other times I hit it and it makes the engine sound to forceful any tips

    My bike has loads of torque so the engine braking can be quite aggressive at time, especially coming down from higher speeds so throttle blipping definitely helps in those situations. 🤜🤛

    @@MotoEcosse thanks for the help and advice , I may have to wait awhile as I don’t think my gear change whilst blipping will be there just yet. Does it have to be a quick movement hand and gear change? Do believe this will be a help and for a better riding experience.

    Yeah it's very quick technique. It's exactly like changing down as you normally would but you're just adding a very quick blip.

    Hi! Is it possible to do rev matching after stepping down 2-3 gears? Or it only works for down 1 gear?

  • @MotoEcosse

    @MotoEcosse

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey mate, I suppose you could as long as your speed matches the gear changes It definitely works better though changing down 1 gear at a time in my opinion. 🤜🤛

    Is it must to do revmatching ,does it affect millage,chain,gearbox. Im using honda unicorn 160cc bike is it dangerous to my motorcycle

  • @MotoEcosse

    @MotoEcosse

    2 жыл бұрын

    It's not essential no. It's up to the rider if they choose to do it. As long as it's done correctly it won't affect the bike in any way. It's not dangerous to do any bike. You can do it on a 1000cc sports bike or a 125cc. Essentially all you're doing is eliminating most of the engine braking to keep the speed of the bike from dropping too much making the downshift smoother. 🤜🤛

    Interesting video, conflicting views out there about throttle blipping. Keep em coming Help, cold hands in winter riding, any tips. I wear gloves and inner gloves but hands and in particular thumbs get really cold and it’s spoiling going out. I know they’re really ugly but are over mitts any good I don’t want to spend £200 on heated gloves or heated grips which have got wires all over the place

  • @MotoEcosse

    @MotoEcosse

    I also wear gloves and inner gloves. They do keep my hands warm enough, but on those longer rides it's also an issue. You can get really warm winter gloves. I'm not a huge fan of them though. They're so bulky that it can be difficult to use indicators. Another you can try that I find helps with colder winds is surgical gloves. Sounds silly but wind can't penetrate them and your hands tend to sweat a bit which helps keeps your hands warm. You do have to put up with sweaty hands though. 🤜🤛

    I've been riding for over 50 years, and it never occurred to me that people would change down without blipping the throttle. I've always done it automatically, whether I'm braking or not. Do they not teach this in basic training?
