Manual Handling, Slalom And Figure 8 | Mod 1 Tips #1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the 1st in a 3 part series on the Module 1 test. In this video I go over the first 4 maneuvers you'll be asked to do by the examiner, which are manual handling, slalom, figure 8 and slow control. The maneuvers we do in this video aren't to scale due to the size of the area we were in, but I have added a link below which has several layouts you're likely to see on your Mod 1 plus a size guide for all cones in the are should you want to practice in your own time.
Link to the Gov website for the Mod 1 layout and size guide.

    Main thing I found .. is don't over think it .. only focus on one task at a time and not the whole test ..and just relax ..no rush ..you got as long as you need ....it really helps

    Good stuff on part 1. That was how I was taught to do the manual handling. A lot better method than just reversing round from bay to bay, less chance of knocking a cone. Keep emphasising, check, check, lifesaver

At the moment I’m just doing last minute preparation for the Mod 2 hopping it will all go smooth on the day. I found your videos on the Mod 2 helpful as well. Unfortunately my instructors did not prepare me in enough detail like you did in this video and I failed my mod 1. To say I was devastated and confused was an understatement. I've rebooked my mod 1 in a couple of weeks and feeling much more prepared from your videos so a big thank you. thing Im worried about is the manual handling. Im not a big girl and any of the 32 stone going towards me is like trying to push a mountain. Definitely like working out - feel like it will just take practice :) thank you so much for your extremely helpful and calm videos ! x

    interesting about the size of the mod 1 test ground. My riding schools mod 1 training ground feels quite cramped. I have my mod 1 tomorrow so Im hoping the manoeuvres will be easier than the practice ground

    Hi ya, thank you so much for your videos!! I passed my CBT and I’ve been riding my 125 for a few months? I would love to do my full licence (I’m 45) so could do direct access? But I think I will fail on the manual handling! I can’t manhandle my bike when off of it!! Partly because I’m scared of dropping it and partly because of its weight… I’m 7.5 stone and 5.5 will I need to do the manual handling on a bigger bike if I eventually want to ride one? And can I do it sitting on the bike? Stupid questions I know but I’m new to this!! Thanks Tash

    Looking forward to your u-turn vid.I got thro my mod1 but I struggled with it. When practising my instructor confused me; after each go it was always more throttle, a bit of back brake, clutch in, clutch out a bit!!!!! Didn’t know if I was coming or going. In my test it was more about just getting through it, in the end I coasted round!!!!!. I still go and practice it now to try and maintain and improve the skill. Don’t know if you’ve come across MotoJitsu, he does some good vids

  • @MotoEcosse

    @MotoEcosse

    2 жыл бұрын

    You'll have a blast tomorrow. Honestly riding a bigger bike might seem a bit intimidating but I can genuinely say that they are much easier to ride. They're more planted and having the extra power makes getting up to speed limits etc a breeze. Obviously they're heavier but while riding them you don't notice the weight, it's only when you're doing the manual handling stuff you feel the weight but they're still easy enough to maneuver. 🤜🤛

    Yeah they can be tricky while learning. Just remember to look between the cones for the slalom and look where you want the bike to go on the figure of 8. Nice smooth throttle and clutch control as well. All the best for it. 🤜🤛
