    Thanks, Coach Art. Very timely. I've been working on that hand position for about two weeks now. It does help when I get it right. Would love to see more about it, like how it looks from behind before you release it. I'm trying out pointing my index finger down to the floor before release.

    Even though I can hook the lane now, if I could do it over again, I would have stuck with a lighter ball when I was younger and mastered releasing that. Then every year increase by 1lbs until I got to 15 lbs.

    huge thing on top of all this is maybe slowing the ball down. Giving it more time to get into its roll phase can usually help create more angle as well

    Not so much because when you slow it down excessively your energy on the ball decreases. You want the ball still coming in with good revs when it hits the pocket.

    I had less rotation than the kid in the video at one point. Then started doing Drop Your Damn Shoulder. Rotation went up from like 220 or so RPM to about 350 or so. DYDS changes EVERYTHING. Weirdly enough, lofting also helped. Guess my timing was too early or something.

    What’s commonly known as „lift“ (yanking the heck up when thumb is out and fingers still in) during release also helps immensely even though you’ll hear its stupid. Don’t listen to people claiming it’ll lift your ball up, it won’t.

    Only other thing I would add that can massively affect hook potential is ball speed. Slowing down definitely gives the ball more time to read the lane and roll in the backend vs speeding up to limit the backend potential.

    @@ArtOfBowling I typically use more ball speed to limit backend, but I have read tips about slowing down while moving deeper with more axis rotation to make sure the ball reads the lane to make that backend move.

    Last week I left so many ten pins during leave and experimented during practice with my hand position. I am striking a lot more by having my middle and ring fingers at the 9/8 o’clock positions. It’s a little more exaggeration than what you mentioned, but it really has worked for me.

  • @yourztruly9490

    @yourztruly9490

    Not thumb should help you get more hooks since you don’t have to worry about getting stuck and turning early. To increase that rev rate you need to keep your hand under the ball and un-cup the wrist at the release to generate more revolutions. Changing hand position also helps change the way the ball hooks (axis rotation). Just make sure you keep your elbow in and don’t chickenwing it.

    Any tips for girls that have a wide carry angle that causes her forearm and hand to naturally point out from her body. A coach recently had her start with her hand more on the side of the ball which helped her swing, keeps the ball by her ankle at release, but this change decreased her power.

    There was literally no difference in his shot, lol. All these generic get more revs, throw it like the pro's, etc videos drive me crazy. Sorry to be so bitter, but I've seen so much of this and telling people to get their hand behind the ball doesn't help anyone, they know that's what they need to do, its getting to that step that is the issue for everyone trying to get more rev's and until these coaches/slash content creators speak more in-depth on this topic, such as wrist-flexion, dropping the shoulder, pendulum swing I will be here writing these comments. You know who does a great job at this the Asian bowling scene. Such as this video, I got more value out of one video that I could not understand one word they were saying, than in hundreds of these generic english versions. You're welcome. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hpOJq9adfbSxZNo.html

    This is really so weird, nobody ever explains releasing the ball. „Thumb needs to come out“, „CupUncup“, etc … but HOW? And in the next video they claim that one should use low axis rotation (and one should) and one should be able to use several rotations, but what one really needs are more revs. The shots were different, though.

  • @Ftybr57
    @Ftybr572 жыл бұрын

How ever funnuy as you think the lady slapping that man across the face is in your video, ( which did not make sense whatsoever), I found insulting as it’s just not funny to promote disrespect this or anyway. Might think about that “silly shit “ before hyping your “ training “videos
