I’ve been using an earth box for five years. I just like the lower profile. It seems to wick better to the top, but I love sub irrigation planters.
I love bottom watering. I use the Earth boxes and the AC Infinity self watering bases with a fabric pot that's wrapped with Saran wrap about 3/4 of the way down. I realized for Living Soil, the all around dry back does more harm than good. Once i added the Saran wrap, the fabric pots grow like they're earth boxes. Always get CURTAINS of roots down into the watering basin. It's crazy!
The most important advice is “love your plants.”

Something I've found that helps with water heavy containers and overall plant vigor is aeration or breaking up of the hardened top layer of grow medium. Even more so in plastic pots. Bamboo shiskabob skewers work well for this. I loosen medium a few times/as needed, from late seedling stage until a few weeks before harvest.

I go by DLI and have separate charts for photos and autos. I use the manufacturer’s suggested light heights combined with a phone app to give them the right DLI. When setting it up that way the ppfd isn’t that high and have a chart of ppfd for the various stages I compare it to. I’m into small four plants at a time grows under lower wattage lights. Its my second one indoor with better lights and bigger tent way better than my first indoor and i thought that was good lol
Newer grower, lifetime smoker of some of the finest buds. I grow autos in dwc buckets. First plant I got 12oz dry. 8 or so was great buds and 4 was larf. I know had I tried my fan leaves, I'd had a better yield since more light would have made less part and more dense bud. When to defoliate? I just feel I'm going backwards removing "solar panels." Is it right before or early flower?

The one plant per 1000w h.i.d. light,was not the best idea.However, when I first started growing,there was literally zero available information,other than if you were lucky enough to know someone who was growing.Alot has changed from the late 70s.The one plant per light idea was what was done provided one had a barn,which was the only suitable indoor grow room,lol.Lastely, don't pinch the top when the 1st pr of leaves come in, this also wasn't the best idea.
I learned the hard way too much light is a problem. Stunted 6 of my plants by at least a month with a wand light right on my seedlings.
@TheGrandmaMoses

I somehow like to believe that, most of the time, what people say was light stress was actually heat stress. Gave seedlings 1000PPFD before as they lived in the same tent as the mature girls, did my due dilligence in waiting until the second serrated pair of leaves showed up to put them in there, used a room greenhouse to keep humidity up and had no problem whatsoever. Studies by SANlight or Dr Bugbee also seem to reinforce the notion of 'after the second serrated pair of leaves, there is no too much light, just a higher electrical bill'.
I used a different email address and it worked without a problem. Thanks
Do you recommend a heavier pearlite mix when it comes to starter soils to aerate the route zone and to combat overwatering or do you run the risk of drying out your plants?
@toddkump9902
Ай бұрын
Lotsa Perlite👍🏽 There isn’t many soils available commercially that have enough perlite in them…maybe that 50-50 Blend. (It’s coco and perlite) You won’t dry them out👍🏽
@ScottyReal420
Ай бұрын
I personally don't use perlite that often, i start in straight coco. If i use perlite it is because it was already in a mix that i am testing with Grow Dots.
I am constantly screaming similar sentiments to new growers. Less is so much more especially in the beginning. From seed heating mats to npk overload extreme to obscene ppfd
I know your going to be busy Scotty, so when you get time I messed up and am hoping you’ll have an solution for me. One of my plants is Neville Haze. I used grow dots and it is doing great. The bloom time is 14-16 weeks. I have 10 week grow dots bloom. Will it be fine or Will I have to add anything else for nutrients for the last month and a half? See even today after all these years of growing I still fuck up lol. I am blaming the bong, the hash, and the excitement of a new a plant I never grown. Thanks man.
@ForbiddenMarketingSecrets
Ай бұрын
How far are you into your grow cycle? We’ve added half a does of grow dots 1 week before flipping into bloom. It adds three weeks to bloom. The nitrogen still runs out soon enough not to mess up the bloom. More than half a dose, or less than a week before flipping, you’ll still have a lot of nitrogen in your flowers and you’ll probably have to flush the crap outta them before harvest.

Things I learned. Eventually 😂 don’t move the pots around it disorients the plant and it has to wast energy getting its bearings again I tried moving my plants from greenhouse to shed to flower them. So moving them twice a day. It shocked them all and even though they grew well and made big buds they all had seeds and hermied and the buzz from the weed was horrible with a rat piss smell

Cola focused SOG is prob the easiest most efficient way to grow top quality for most strains. That being said in places with plant number limits or other restrictions there have been some masterpiece SCROGS/LST grows. They are a lot of work and harder to do right without quality loss but it can be done.

Right, on that note be careful with Phosphorus because it can easily be overdone and burn up your plant.
