This is exactly what I am looking for as a decades-long swim enthusiastic. I can't thank you enough.
I love the vibe in this video! Thank you for the content! 💙
2 beat kick has been my solution to many problems 💪🏽. I learned that I can do a very light kick to conserve energy and let my heart rate go up (or down) slowly, or give it more of a whip kick when I need more power once everything is warmed up and my heart rate is up. I call the second one ‘Ledecky’ mode 🤣. I do need more tips on how to engage the core and lats Coach Mandy!! I feel like I’m still using mostly shoulders. As always… Thanks for all the great vids.
Incredible demonstrations, thank you~~~
Thanks a lot, i was looking for a video like this
I’m 76 and partial to the two kick per stroke. It works and I’m still swimming.
Thanks!
Thanks. always was a sticking point for me
Two beat is just beautiful
Just great 😀
very helpful video, thank you so much
I like 2 beat kick, it easy, sometimes I use 1+3 kick for right /left stroke, sometimes reverse. I find it very useful when you try to swim faster. will learn 6 beak kick soon. Cheers!
Great
I love the six kick pattern the best 😊
Thanks very nice
You are the best coach ever 😊

Thank you, I appreciate your support! 🙌🏊♂️🙏😎🤙 Happy New Year 🎉🍾
It is interesting to watch Katie Ledecky when she swims her longer sets, like 800 and more. She uses a 1 beat kick..... I to refer to kicks as front side and back side since up and down are reversed with freestyle and backstroke. I do anchor the front side kick with the pulling arm, not the recover arm.
I am in love with two beat kick
Thank you,have never seen comprehensive explanation on this before!!!

Hi Mandy, Great video as usual, love your srtuctured 1, 2, 3 video format 👌. I finally am starting to get a bit of rhthym in my 2 beat. But noticed you had a few mini flutter kicks in between your 2 beat kick pattern. I did this also to keep my hips boyant and maybe to kepp my legs moving. Is that correct? Or am I mistiming or cheating 🤔
Hi coach, just learning today the timing of 2 beat kick with my arms, it's hard though, long way to go. Tks.
Very helpful video coach Mandy. I haven’t learnt to count the kicks yet. Is it okay to just keep kicking at a regular pace?
Dear Mandy coach, very informative and clear video, thanks for that, The only thing I am not certain is that do we have to concern which side of the kick goes first in six beats kick? Like two beats, we have to do left kick while right hand into the water
I swim to relax and feel at one with water so I’m not that kind is swimmer that does it for time or speed but anything I can use in this video will help. Thanks.

2BK would be the pattern you would probably enjoy the most! 🙌🙏
Hey Mandy, I am in the process of figuring out each beat-kick types for freestyle. Looking at your 4BK, it seems that it's basically 6 BK but "skipping" the last 2 kicks. Is this correct? BTW, 2BK works for me at my current stage, 6BK raises heartrate too much, 4BK I coudn't even do as I couldn't figure out the rythm of it. I'll try it based on your video tommorrow :)
does hand paddle helps with the hands alignment?? i feel like my right hands (above elbow till my finger tips) is not straight when my right hand enter the water.
Thanks...for me is 2&4 beat kick

Love it Gent! Thank you for subscribing to the channel and keep me posted on your progress. 🙌✅ -Coach Mandy
I was taught that the hand position during catching should be near the surface of the water for streamline. But I see your 2 beat, your arm slightly downward. Is it supposed to be for this kicking?
Hi Mandy. Thanks for the helpful video. Is the 4 beat kick designed for breathing on one side? Whenever I try bilateral breathing with a 4 beat kick it seems impossible. Is this normal? I can do a 4 beat kick when I only breath on my right side.

That’s a good question Lukas. Technically, it is possible but it’s challenging bc you have to switch the dominant leg each time you breathe to another side. Naturally you will either swim with a two best kick or a six beat kick if you breathe on 3’s. I will try this out and let you know. 👍
Looks like the last kick of each cycle is executed with a pull on the same side while the opposite arm enters the water. The two beat and four beat are then followed with a momentary glide while the six beat is constant. Think I got it.

Yes, that is another way to look at it. ✅👍 Same connection just a different perspective. Enjoy your practice Pete! -Coach Mandy
I'm not very experienced and get the timing wrong in my 2-beat which is slow and falls apart after a short while. I find it easier to keep rhythm in 6-beat. I put power in the first kick of every stroke, then adjust power on the other two. In 4-beat, does it matter whether you breathe on the 3-kick side or on the 1-kick side?
@SWIMVICE

That is correct, it does not matter when you breathe for the 4 BK. Yes, the 6 BK is a great solution to get the timing right first. 🙌🏊♂️😄 -CM
I am beginner only started 3 months ago I can take good breath on right side but not on left side so I take breath only on right every 2 catches Is that ok or not?

Hello Mohamed, it is great you are able to breathe on one side! I would advise to continue practicing both sides as you don't want to fall into the trap of only being dependent on one side. This can make you vulnerable to an asymmetrical stroke and will make it harder to learn breathing on your weaker side long term. The pattern of every 2 is completely fine as long as you are able to do it on both sides. Hope this helps clarify! Best, Coach Mandy
well.............. i'm a bit confused. i;ve seen people do the same side arm and kick and opposite arm and leg??????????????//so what is it??? because i do like to teach the 2 beat.
@SWIMVICE

It is the foot kicking down while the opposite arm lands in at the same time. If it’s the same side, the kick is disconnected. 🙌👍
i like 4 beat kick👍️👍️👍️
not right leg with right arm together?
@SWIMVICE

I am basing the movement on the arm entering the water. So when your right arm enters the water, your left left kicks down. ✅
Thanks!
Thanks!
