This is Excellent work. Loved it.

I love how Eli just wanted to take stock and accounting for the empire for the rest of his life, but Thrawn intentionally dragged him out of his comfort zone to make him the best version of himself he could be.

If Thrawn sees potential in a subordinate he will do his best to bring it out of them and put them in positions that best suits them. In the books his troops follow him out of respect and admiration rather than fear like Vader and the Emperor.

Yh, people like Vader and idiots like assistant director Ronan thought that Thrawn was intentionally horrible by putting his bridge crew on the spot or in Vader’s case, that they were really insubordinate. In Thrawn: alliances Vader actually comes close to strangling some of them to remind the others to follow orders without questions. However, you’re absolutely right in that Thrawn always made people with potential (Eli Vanto, Commodore Faro) the best versions of themselves by stretching and challenging them.

@@jmurray1110 That's why the Defender was the perfect solution to the rebel problem, it was an air/space superiority fighter that didn't need to be deployed in large numbers to be effective and was shown to outperform most of what the rebellion had access to as well as working against the small squadrons the rebels tended to operate.

@@benjaminbierley2074 yeah that's an issue with most of the imperial navy/army it was complete dog shit at taking on guerrilla tactics and small star fighter fleets things like there walkers had major design flaws that acted more as weapons of terror than of war and the class 2 star destroyer was designed to take down capitol ships and removed the point defences that are needed to take on star fighters and bombers

I really like how Thrawn actually cares and nurtures his troops. As a result his men become more loyal and more effective to him. Thrawn sees the bigger picture and understands that for the warmachine to work optimally each of its components must be well oiled and maintained, no matter how small.

He operates on strict pragmatism. Not caring about subordinates fosters disloyalty which will cause him problems, so he treats them reasonably well. He doesn't actually care about them on an personal level though.

@@Maddieisabaddie-et4py The vibe I get from Thrawn is that he cares about and respects his people so I see it more as a way to propose a different plan in such a way that the other will keep an open mind and accept his plan of their own accord. The other still has to go along with Thrawn's plan and he knows it's better the other does so voluntarily.

The relationship between Vanto and Thrawn is like that of Sherlock and Watson. Vanto isn’t necessarily unintelligent and is in fact quite intelligent but Thrawn outstrips him. Vanto is there for Thrawn to work off of

Same idea with Thrawn and Captain Palleon in "Heirs to the Empire". Although Palleon has a very epic story of his own in the Legends. And Vanto might get his own story as liaison-officer to the Chiss and Thrawns war agains the great evil from the outside during the time between Episode 5 and "Heirs"; although yet Legends i think.

We’re more than halfway through the first season of The Bad Batch, Star Wars fans! Now, going into the 12th episode, we only have a few more weeks left until the finale. But I’m getting ahead of myself. So far, we’ve gotten to know a few really great characters, including Omega, of course, and the titular group who we first met during The Clone Wars. In recent episodes, we’ve also gotten to see different locations and characters as the Empire starts taking over planets, and last week’s show, “Devil’s Deal,” gave us the return of fan-favorite Hera Syndulla, who you might recognize from Star Wars Rebels. Getting these new Star Wars shows on Disney Plus is definitely an awesome way to see some of our favorite characters in different timelines, and I cannot wait to see what other surprise appearances we have in store for us in the rest of the season.

@@exiledadrian103 Thrawn in Rebels was voiced by Lars Mikkelsen, same guy who now portrays him in the Ahsoka series. But in this video it's supposedly a guy named 'D. Tyler Fultz'. But you're right. The voices are close to perfect.

Eli was probably Thrawns best friend by all accounts. A shame what happened to Thrawn after rebels though.... I hope we see him again in the upcoming years

The empire wasnt really evil or wrong, the republic was just as corrupt. You had good and bad people in both. I would say the emperor himself was evil and simple didnt care about anyone. So no i dont think it is and yes him in controll of the empire would be something to see/read (Alternative timeline )

"Trinket" was an undersatement. Palpatine promoted him from Admiral straight to Grand Admiral, skipping Fleet Admiral altogheter.

I watched Rebels and did not understand why people thought Thrawn was such an amazing character. I watched this and all was revealed. This is a very good story, excellent production, Congratulations and Thanks to everyone involved. Great work.

Rebels didn't do thrawn justice to be honest, and I felt there was a bit of inconsistency from this comic compared to the actual show. Still, it was nice to see him, even if his tactical genius was thwarted by magic space whales

​​@@occam7382 think they needed to explain why Thrawn wasn't around in the OT. But in the books Pellaeon says that it was because people were uncomfortable working under a non-human. So the prejudice in the Empire led Palpatine to station Thrawn in the Wild part of space close to the Unknown Regions.

Eli Vanto has been developed and groomed to be a great tactician.

I think Pryce started out as very cautious and patient in her assent to power but she got too overconfident and careless with her power when she finally obtained her position as governor. I mean she killed thousands of civilians to cover up her murder of that ISB spy.

I want to personally thank you guys for the work you do. I'm legally blind and find it really difficult to read comics but i'm always wanting to read their stories. This lets me enjoy them in a way I can see them and with audio aid, it's just amazing. Thank you so much

this randomly popped up on KZread, I am not even a Star Wars guy....and really enjoyed it. I woke up halfway though it and I guess I need to watch the first half now. This is like Sherlock Holmes in space.

The Emperor allowed Thrawn to have his support human, then lied and tried to brand Eli a traitor. There was no way that Thrawn would allow his best friend to be harmed like that. I always got the sense that Eli reminded Thrawn of Thrass in some ways so he saw Eli as a surrogate brother.

This story 100% needs a film version!!!

I still wish that they would have made the Thrawn trilogy into movies. Would have been better than what Disney is shoving down our throats. Such a bad ass character. He's calm, cool and collected.

disney totally fucked up. 3rd deathstar? new empire? jesus they should have done the old republic, or yuzzhan vong invasion. or like you said a thrawn trilogy. instead they cut out legends and replaced it with some shitty cannon thats worse than most fan fiction ive read.

@R.A.E.E Collective Hmm. Well since disney fired kathaleen kenedy and got better ppl who are actually star wars fans and had read the legends, i think they could undo the things made in the sequel through the Mandalorian Series. Who knows, maybe we might get to see thrawn in live action.

Vanto is us. He's each and every one of us, walking beside Thrawn every day. He's Nick in The Great Gatsby.

My GOD... actual GOOD writing and a GOOD story in a Star Wars piece? Amazing! I had forgotten that such was even possible. Thank you for this and whoever did the voice of Thrawn you deserve an Emmy!

There's been PLENTY of GOOD writing and GOOD to FANTASTIC stories within Star Wars pieces and mediums throughout the years when you ACTUALLY pay attention to what's happened and what's been done within Star Wars entirely! I have a theory that Thrawn took Eli's statement as a challenge. So he decided to rank up to Grand Admiral just to show off.

This makes me hype for Thrawn's return. And I really hope that "Greater Evil" is the Yuuzhan Vong.

Thanks for this. Most fans DON'T have money/time/patience to read all the books/comics for backstory. So this helps a lot!!!

Voice of Thrawn here. A lot of people have asked why I kept pronouncing "ensign" the way I did in this production. The answer is surprisingly straightforward. At the time of recording for the part years ago, I had never heard the word, so I just kind of winged it and nobody bothered to correct me. I guess they just chalked it up to being Thrawn's accent, a still-somewhat-rough knowledge of Basic, or both. I have since learned the correct pronunciation of the word and will take it to heart in future productions. I hope this answers your question on the matter.

This truly defines Thrawn, he uses intelligence to be deceptive. He even learned about the Death Star before the Emperor told him of its existence. He even asked him about it confidently not fearing him.

I could listen to thrawns voice all day

This was fantastic and was filled with loads of little touches like Thrawn's actor mispronouncing words now and then which makes perfect sense given that his handle of basic was flawed at this time. The voice actors for Tarkin, Pryce and Vanto were also excellent. Great job.

Palpatine at the end: "Who the frig snitched so I can fry their arse with some lightning?" Also nice translation at the end, very nicely spoken

The hours of editing work, the zooms, pans, pullbacks...cuts for sound or action changes is impressive. This took god knows how long to produce and complete. It was VERY well done by all who participated in it. Bravo.

The Sy Bisti language here is super well done! And the sounds effects and voicing were almost all on-point. Well done all!

Not a fan of the new canon, but I can appreciate some 'new' Thrawn writings. This was well done.

Great Video! Star Wars Rebels really did a disservice overall to, what is quite possibly, the greatest character in the star wars franchise. At least legends gave thrawn appropriate respect, both to the length of, and the impact that his service had on the galaxy, but also to the fact that he was taken out to further the plot of a no-name jedi character that disney propped up. Never can nor will accept the idea of some kid and his merry band of do-gooders were able to out do thrawn, no matter how disney tries to spin it.

Absolutely amazing voice acting , thank you to all who were involved....

I love Old Radio dramas and this made me so happy! Thank you so much to the creators for this! This makes a fine addition to my collection. Edit: I listened to this without the visuals...the acting/production is so on point I didn't need them.

I absolutely love 1:29:01 where Eli takes Thrawn’s threadbare instructions and runs with it… and Thrawn just sits back to watch Eli do his thing because they trust each other so implicitly

Eli is a great "everyman" in this book.

The fact than thrawn have a friend is not only really interesting, but touching and fitting for his idea of a unusual officer (since usually, friendship doesn't seem that much of a thing within the high ranking imperial officers.

Yeah he’s absolutely Thrawn’s “Watson.” Thrawn is hard for most people to relate to so Zahn will typically give us an everyday nobody to sort of “translate” the experience for us.

This was AWESOME wouldn't mind seeing more comics brought to life like this Cannon or Legends

WOW!!! Just found this channel! Reading collecting Comics since 1982, and love Quality art and writing! THIS IS GREAT!!! COMICS online should be like this, major movie could be released...

I've listened to this 5 times now. It is superb. The voice actor for Thrawn brings it to such life. So cool and collected through his entire dialogue.

Man, I can't imagine how long it took you guys to rehearse, record, edit and mix all this. Thank you so much and awesome job!!! Also, this story arc is objectively, so much better and more thought out than anything in the sequel trilogy.

This is so underrated.

This was fantastic I was so disappointed by his apparent end in rebels but now it looks like he is coming back so super excited Thrawn has always been one of my favorite characters.

Holy cow this is badass!

Now this ladies and getleman is a solo movie, that said its truly an engaging experience the editing and voice cast was quality work by all accounts perfect, wish this was made into live action i mean thrawn is rebels was a masterpice this only examplified thrawns brilliance and nuanced as a character as well as my new favorite in the star wars universe. Once again great work to all who worked on this project kudos to you all
