    I dont really see any alternative... I mean for most this will be a significant challenge however. Probably for the majority of the playerbase this will be difficult as heck. Maybe the trick is to remove lightningstrike for legendary to give the best players a challenge.

    @@Legion12Centurion I think now it is not a challenge at all if you are into doomstacking, even if you aren't a good player actually, because it happens later and you have time to prepare an ultimate Chaos-destroying force quite easily. On the other hand, players who are relatively good but intentionally do not use doomstacks might find this quite challenging. If you use a balanced army build (sTaUnCh LiNe oF sPeArS, some ranged units/artillery, some monsters/monstrous infantry, some cavalry/flanking infantry and maybe some flyers) you will have a problem with 12 stacks. If you just run into them and start lightning striking, you won't be able to kill all in one turn just because you will suffer some losses. And you can't break in, kill a few armies and run away, they're going to get you during the end turn just because you spend some movement to get to them. So you will have to think strategically and try to separate their armies into groups that can be killed in one turn

    @@Legion12Centurion could make lightning strike reduce enemy support armies by 1. So that if you attack 2 close army you fight only one, but if you attack 4 you will have to fight 3 of them still

    @@Legion12Centurion like legend always said, you don't take tools away from the player to increase the difficulty, if you remove ls from legendary that would be even worse than fucking 30 shit armies. Plus ls is a tool that you can use effectively when the player is good, it's not like autoresolve battels in WH1, I don't like people getting punished for good at the game. Also, how are you gonna deal with skavens who always comes up on top most of the time on legendary. And for improving chaos, there are many ways but it's not gonna take time, and I don't blame CA for being lazy on this rather not important subject.

    Lorewise dark elves have nothing to do with Chaos. Nagarrond actually got destroyed by Chaos during the End Times

    It's more nuanced than that. The 4 chaos gods hardly get along, not to mention Archeon mainly in it to kill chaos by starving it of a world to interact with

    In the end times lore the dark elfs fights chaos. About skaven, they didnt meet chaos but i dont see why would they ally with chaos, they want to rule the world, while chaos simply want tp blow shit up

    This feels less like a tide, and more like a battering ram because the invasion is at specific points. If the Chaos Invasion spawned along the entire northern edge of the map, and I mean the ENTIRE north edge of the map, it would probably feel more apocalyptic because there is absolutely no way the player can be everywhere at once. Plus the invasion would be a problem for everyone, not just Moulder and Naggarond. Another thing that would make them more dangerous is to spawn chaos with accompanying armies of Chaos Norscans that specifically focus on settling any settlements that the Chaos armies raze. This way as Chaos marches it's backed up by endless waves of cheap Norscan units.

    @@brightestlight9462 Not correct. The South is as barren and corruptied as the north but less inhabited to the point you couldn't add all the people living there to create a small village.

    Good idea, but Norsca can only settle in coastal cities and playable faction capitals. Which, even if they adjust that so the warbands that come in with the chaos armies can resettle any kind of ruin, well... that would be another kick in the balls for any Norsca player.

    They already do this if Varg dies for example and comes back with the invasion they settle the places chaos destroys. It happened in my game they razed Frozen Landing and Baersonlings camp and Varg settled them both 1-2 turns after. I killed choas and Varg before they got any further but I assume they would continue to do it.

    @@SWtaervdesn the South is inhabited by endless hordes of beastmen, the difference is just that the south is much farther away that’s why it’s not much of an issue

    Yeah that's one thing. As chaos starts it's invasion it never gets any stronger, only weaker. If at least everytime they destroyed a city they spawned a new stack, that might make things more dangerous but otherwise through attrition they just get cut down by the settled factions.

    Tbh i think this invasion will feel like a Chaos Fart. the mod that legend mentions, chaos invasions x10, 2 patches ago spawned like 80 stacks or something absurd like this( just in the chaos wastes). Empire-Dwarves wasnt broken by this massive invasion, they held them in Kislev like nothing. The dwarves didnt lose a single territory, and the Empire only lost a few eastern territories, they didnt even get to Middenland. On the other hand, the invasions from the north and south did get affected by this too and Lothern got reckt to a few settlements and I got attacked heavily ( i was bretonnia) Also Chaos razed lustria and left very few settlements intact, some vampirates surviving barely. And it took around 50 stacks from each of this spawns. There was a norscan Spawn below Tilea that Also went in a beeline for Dwarfs, and they got deleted. Legendary difficulty and most of the units were high level. This update is going to make it more absurd for Ruinous factions. And Nagarond getting such a huge backstab its a bit absurd. Ordertide will still be the big boi and the coming of chaos will give the player the chance to get the military allliances necessary to get to victory conditions. Very stale lategame. Fighting the Ordertide will be a must for ruinous powers, and it will be mandatory for the player to weaken Dwarves or Empire by their own hands if they want them getting rekt by Chaos.

    I said in a previous video they really should turn Chaos ruins in to actual settlements with garrisons. Just keep them out of player control (if playing as Chaos or Beastmen) and don’t allow recruitment. Or just screw the broken as hell horde mechanic and make them a normal race. It would more accurately simulate the forces of Chaos pouring in to the world endlessly, and you have to fight them back and close the portals. Maybe even make a master gate in the wastes you have to destroy.

    I think if the chaos portals opened up on a random parts of the map where the chaos armies spawn through would be interesting. Imagine the reptiles or the barren deserts of the tomb kings facing random invasions. It would be good to see match ups that probably never happen otherwise.

    Your correct in that making the threat appear on a more global level would be effective (norsca invasions do this somewhat when they spawn). Personally I'd also make sub factions of beastmen and skaven (Thanqoul?) allies appear en masse. I'd also have Nagash "awaken" at/near the black pyramid as a second threat from the south (hostile to chaos obviously). Then I'd add a level of randomness by only one of those factions gets the prime "invasion" status and the bulk of armies/campaign specific modifications.

    I agree. I hope that in warhammer 3 we see that with the daemons of chaos. The daemons appear periodically all over the map, while the warriors of chaos still come down from the north (though hopefully with new mechanics to make it less boring and grindy). Maybe have the norscan fleets appear again as well. I really enjoyed the chaos invasions in warhammer 1. It made the game feel like it had an actual objective. The victory conditions have always just felt arbitrary and pointless to me. Having something to prepare for and fight off at some point gives a lot more weight to actually expanding and becoming stronger. Some of the most fun I had in warhammer 2 was in Imrik's campaign, just going around with my incendiary high elf archmage of fire, gathering the Sword of Khaine and every powerful item and lord trait I could to make Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons. Maybe CA could even mix it up by having different types of invasions. I think having a random chance of the final invasion being Nagash or an army of Skaven from a new upstart clan instead would be awesome instead of just, "oops, guess it's chaos time again." There's something about defending against an unending tide of evil that's just so much fun. Warhammer 2 has been a blast, but it just seems to lack an end goal like the first game kinda had. Just my take on it though.

    @@SkorpionMarauder I think that's where it is going, but personally, I liked the original issues in WH2 with chaos, in that it almost never stopped, unless you wiped everything, yes it's annoying, but the concept of having a goal to accomplish in order to stop it is much appreciated IMO.

    @@SkorpionMarauder I do think another cool thing, would be that if the raze a city or province then there is a random chance that a new army will spawn there, that way you have to be active on taking care of removing the taint of chaos.

    I do think that Nagash is going to be one of the late-game mechanics in TW3. Big Bone Daddy is currently the biggest miss (apart from token presence here and there), I can't imagine him being completely skipped around

    They completely ruined any and everything that was ever positive about the chaos invasion. I will for sure turn it off for my next campaigns. All it does is create a super circlejerk of order factions, who are already ruined and needs fixing. I'm not even playing non-order. I just like diversity, randomness of outcomes and NOT having "cheat" AI, where the same faction (Dwarves and DE) will ALWAYS be strength #1, even if they just have 1 settlement left for 50 turns.

    yeah A.I. might get rekt, but as a DE player (morathi especially), a properly prepared defense would see a mass influx of slaves that would then just fuel even more armies.

    It's probably coming with Warhammer 3. The Ogre Kingdoms will likely be a horde faction. That unit upgrade cooking thingy added with The Warden & The Paunch might be ported over to the Ogres as well.

    @@snaker9er Maybe re-colonization should have a cooldown, an x amount of turns before you can rebuild. Maybe add some smaller Chaos incursions into early to mid-game as "probing attacks"

    @@snaker9er no that would be total bs....we can all agree that it'll be much more intimidating in warhammer 3 but imagine if the chaos rises debuff intensifies and when it reaches 60% or more anywhere it would spawn deamonic stacks (just generic lords in wh2 case)....they would wreak havoc anywhere while chaos unites the remaining norscans as they would prepare to attack the world...that would be amazing

    I think having Chaos be like Nakai's Spirit of the Jungle faction would help. Every time Chaos raze a settlement, the ruins are occupied by the Chaos/Demon vassal faction. The Chaos Artefacts function as normal, just lasting indefinitely. The vassal's garrison grows by 1 for every 5% of Chaos corruption in the ruined region, until reaching 20 unit garrison at 100% chaos corruption. At that point, the ruins would spawn a new stack, either taking the garrison back to 0 or starting the army at only a general and recruiting from there. The army could function like the old Waaagh, remaining separate from the main faction, like a vassal, that just heads somewhere to fight, raid and sack. Maybe Chaos could use the razed settlement's occupants as Vampires use big battles to instantly rally the garrison to their side.

    Safe to say, I think that Chaos is a lost cause in WH2, it will be the main focus for WH3 and I hope for a true end times feel to it

    Is that so? If you got a few Doomstacks with lightning strike, i really don't see where the issue should be. If you want to play "lorefriendly" armies... well... just dont play on legendary ^^

    It's not that it is too weak, it's that it's too boring. Fighting 20 times the same battle with your OP army gets old really fast. Also, legendary difficulty Total War Warhammer is really easy, just spam range and heroes. In fact, the lack of a fun challenge is what made me quit the game a year ago after thousands of hours of Total War.

    Chaos is a serious threat for new players that dont know the tricks on how to deal with it, but veteran players aren't bothered by it much at all imo. Its more of a chore to deal with than a fun challenge

    Maybe they should add the option of turning it back on mid-campaign. That way, when you have nothing else to do, you can turn it on and go fight some chaos armies to test new formations or stacks or something. Like how people drive in GTA while following all traffic laws.

    Usually the human elite in chaos armys are great soldiers, Archaon had the Swords of chaos who were not only the best warriors but also diciplined and trained

    Suggestions: - Chaos rift spawns at random locations to give more replay value. - lightning strike shouldn't work when in presence of Chaos sorcs, the changer of ways sees through the plot. - more chaos spawn locations that are set beforehand, DE is getting the brunt here. -make sure the legendary chaos lords always travel with 2-3 armies bound to them (like brayherds) , this in combination with no lightning strike will force you to prepare more armies. - chaos ruins become altar settlements that will summon an extra army after the 3rd/5th turn. After the first summoning it will take 10 turns. Settlement armies are small/fodder. -certain cities can become reinforced chaos bastions, summing a full army max level every 10 turns / summon a legendary lord/hero whatever idea seems good. ( I personally hate that there's always some lords that just retake your ruins) Some of these ideas are probably already thought of and held back so we have something in tww3

    The chaos plague is crap anyway as it doesn't damage units inside settlements like garrisons and is too sporadic for armies on the march.

    @@OriginalRAB It still buffs the Chaos invasion in certain ways. Higher chaos corruption in a region gives the chaos invasion armies better passive replenishment rates and certain leadership bonuses.

    Legend mentioned the chaos portals on ruins, I always thought what would be cool is if the portals from ruined settlements would spawn armies or units. So like every turn there is a 1% chance in each portal that it will spawn a chaos army. So you have to proactively deal with chaos even in the south because if they blow up too much stuff up north they will have like 50 settlements that each have a 1% chance of spawning an army.

    It would be really cool if they did it with the Dark Elves and the chaos warriors like once in the lore, that you get the option to make a contract with them to attack Ulthuan together. A little bit like in Norscan campaign, but you pay for the chaos not attacking you (at least in some way)

    I mean, it's nice that we can set the difficulty of invasion now, but as it was said, it's just grind. Chaos needs some new mechanics for both ai and player to go with, prefferably related to portals or corruption, like spawning or forming new armies on portals, based on surrounding corruption, gaining abilities or something.. If Chaos had acces to something like black arc abilities, or doom rocket on 100 corruption then it would make fighting them harder.

    I never play a campaign without the chaos portals mod which makes all razed cities by chaos create a portal which spawns more armies. Feels perfect to me

    I like the idea of settlements getting turned into chaos portals that spawns armies. (I think there's a mod for this, but still...) Maybe only major settlements would be transformed into portals, while minor settlements just cause corruption. At first a portal would spawn smaller Beastmen armies. But after a while the portal grows stronger and will start to spit out Chaos Warrior armies. The portal could be level 1 - 5, just like the settlements are. The Invasion difficulty could adjust the frequency and/or size of those armies that were spawned. I think it could make the invasion more dynamic, and it would create an incentive to mobilize against chaos portals.

    Legend, for tests like this I'd suggest having the console command mod enabled for your campaign. It does absolutely nothing so it wont interfere or change anything(unless you tell it to) and you can use it to turn off FOW to see what is going on across the map.

    If they wanted to make it a "whole world at war" kind of situation, I kind of think, instead of just spawning massive amounts at one location, they need to have a series of maybe even randomized locations. I figure, have forested and remote areas spawn powerful Beastmen (With a few Norsan barbarian tribes and eventually Daemon) armies. Have Skaven armies Spawn from underneath cities (along with a general public order drop to increase rebellions. Have different parts of the sea spawn Norscan armies and maybe even have some Chaos show up directly in the vortex. I figure, instead of just the giant wave at the top (which would still have a relatively strong force) have small pockets of armies show up at random parts of the map and, better yet, have each continent have a handful of "high value" targets that Chaos specifically targets. I.E. "trying to destroy these targets to strengthen Chaos' hold on the world" kind of stuff. Then, when or if they Raze these targets, they gain a resource on a meter and if they gain enough of that resource it spawns a stronger world wide invasion (presumably a Daemon incursion in WH3) and/or some kind of "final battle" quest. Something that isn't directly "game over" but you have to claw your way back from if you ignore it. I know this would be more annoying and less "powerful" but I think it would sew more chaos across the world and effect more of the global power structure as well as having it more naturally "spike" in power level if it goes ignored for to long. Overall there would be more armies but less centralized. Maybe also have some of the top factions and cities be specifically targeted, like Karaz-a-Karak and Lothern.

    Its simple really, just give a reasonable amount of chaos armies actual sustain, namely recruitment on the fly and insane replenishment. That way it becomes a "player problem" that is not ridiculous in scope.

    My solution would be that chaos spawns as tides at the north and south poles at different locations so you cant camp the bottleneck and then as they raze cities a capital city that had its entire province razed would have a chance to spawn a chaos army through a portal if archaon and sarthorael are still around those armies are stronger and more frequent could also scale this based on corruption in province so it isnt instant spawning armies but it is a world destroying problem you must deal with. This makes ordertide have a use and not just hate you for being powerful because you'd be attacking chaos so much they would love you. This could also be a separate campaign for ME as it would engulf the campaign in the later stages.

    Yeah there should be a way for them to gain ground. Leaving behind corruption means nothing. This I'm sure will be solved in game three but I'm kind of surprised chaos warriors and norsca being from game one don't confederate or unite yet

    If you looks closely there are two choke points in the volkgrad area. The boundary is created by the river in that and there are two ways across it. If one amasses two massive armies on each chokepoints then voila the invasion is...contained. They should also be backed by ome or two other armies behind them in order to replenish the front.

    Would 'Immunity to Lightning Strike' make the invasion more challenging, hence you have to throw a decent amount of force at them, not just 1 doom stack taking out all armies in 1 turn? Or would this be too grindy?

    It could be argued that Lightning Strike should be removed from the game entirely. The AI never seem to use it, so it's pretty much only a player advantage, and it makes dealing with stuff like the Chaos Invasion so much easier. It also vastly outperform any other skill in any lords skill tree, and it's accessible to everyone. A good idea might be to make it only accessible to certain legendary lords with a penchant for ambushes like Tiktaq'to, Snikch, Khazrak, Alith Anar, Wulfheart, Skarsnik and maybe a few others

    @@TheWildmanden the big problem with that is that it would be a massive buff for all the ambush movement factions as they can reach a 100% ambush rate and i dont think skavens need more buffs xD On the other hand ls its suposed to be balance by the fact that you cannot have reinforcements neither if you use it (obviously not enough) but you have to think that it will be impossible to deal with certain situations without ls (ordertide ie) and removing it would make legendary almost unplayable

    that can still be bypassed simply by having a lot of heroes to block armies and then ganging up on them, atleast thats what i did when all i had available around that area was poorly specced confederation armies so i just divided them and used 4 armies to destroy one and rinsed and repeated it until they were gone, didnt even need to use my franzer armies which were capturing new territory by the time the invasions started while playing as Reikland

    @@TheWildmanden the AI does use lightning strike whenever they have it, it's just that their lords usually don't survive long enough to get it so, really only legendary lords have a real chance of picking lightning strike, I have been caught off guard by AI lightning strike a couple of times

    I think the massive Chaos invasion will be a problem for the AI to handle if they're the ones serving as the frontline for it now at least, so in that sense it's an improvement. But if it's you as the player having to deal with it, you still have doomstacks and lightning strike which kinda circumvents the problem regardless. Honestly unless lightning strike itself is also reworked to just be a reinforcement delay rather than a complete reinforcement denial, it's not gonna make a whole lot of difference for players

    Unless you take high elves (alarielle for me) and intrigue your way into an uber-ordertide -turn 90 both empire and dwarves have 25+stettlements, grimgor is dead, beastmen are dead, von carnstein are almost dead, kemmler is dead, skarsnik is dead, wulfrik is dead -brettonnia has all bretonnia except mousillon and the settlement in the same province (mine for a base)and is colonizing the burnt down (by me) ruins of norsca -tyrion, alith and HE batman are teaming up on Malekith (alith has taken naggarond) -huntsmarshal is dead and hexoatl is confederating it's way through lustria -my territory is avelorn, nagarythe, quintex (4 settlement province with landmarks, resources, ports oh my), chrace, saphery, dreadfleet vortex ,imrik starting position and the lands around Granted it is very hard not legendary but as it turns out if you can make the ai work together with opinion boosters and remove their main opponents they can actually do pretty well for themselves.     i feel its going to end up being an east vs west end game scenario where the empire is wiped out and replaced by vamps, skaven and green skins and the the dark elves are gonna get wiped out and replaced with high elves and lizard men. could be interesting to spice up the order tide for the AI but as the player its kinda yeah grindy

    Definetly like the changes, especially the one that removes minor factions spawning in unlogical places and adding an invasion to Naggarond. As for increasing the number of armies, there was always a 10x chaos mod in my loadorder to counter ordertide a bit, so now i can get rid of it i guess.

    Hi. I'm playing Grom on very hard with legendary Chaos Invasion. The first wave had a Naggarond component (I don't know how many) - it almost wiped out the Dark Elf posesions on the continent. They pushed the elven islands in turn and occupied about 75% (I have the rest). It came at turn 92. Before the second wave, the first got wiped out - they destroyed Kislev and the northern dwarfs. The second wave is composed of 28 armies in the old world, with 1 beastmen army and the Bjorling faction that spawned around Norsca (strength 10 ranking). In Naggarond they spawned 3 groups 5+10+5 so 20 in total. So, 48 chaos armies, 1 beastman (unless more appeared somewhere inland), x Bjorling armies. I LOVE IT :D This is how the Chaos invasion should look: massive.

    agree, but bad example, chaos specifically didnt spawn in lustria, because the slann had spent so much time warding lustria from chaos, since the first chaos invasion. What got them was skaven schemes, and a moon crushing lustria

    I do agree lightning strike trivializes a lot situations that should be more of a concern. One army wiping out a force 20 times its size with an op game mechanic is cheesy. Maybe change it so Lightning strike can only be used once or twice per army per turn instead of free use of it until army runs out of movement range like it is now. Would make it less op in my opinion you could use it to do some damage to a big stack of armies but then you would have to get out of there quick or risk getting ganged next turn.

    mateogun of course there is always that option. But then that requires me to exercise restraint on my part to not click the op win button. Which is hard admittedly, I will gravitate towards the path of least resistance as is human nature. But honestly CA should want to provide a balanced, fair and challenging experience with game mechanics that do not undermine its own design. It will never be 100 percent balanced or fair but they should strive for it.

    I have been using a mod that triples the chaos invasion size and also makes it come quicker so the ordertide isn't as strong, I really recommend it.

    I think a good way would be for the early waves to be a flood of agents spreading corruption and assasinating agents, hurting economy and public order. It would be a very different kind of challenge that would set up some instability for when the actual armies hit.

    That's what I'm hoping for. I'd love to see demons of chaos popping out of portals around the world and see knightly/militant order fall to Khorne, Nurgle's plagues spread through towns, and Slaanesh/Tzeentch cults rise up in unison with Archaon.

    Ok, let's imagine that. No lightning strike strat to deal with chaos invasion. You hire 4 armies and get into 4 vs 4 battle, because game engine can't support more. You can't autoresolve it, because you'll take damage and be weaker to deal with other chaos armies. You enter a long grindy battle with lot of reinforcements yet to come because game engine. You'll probably set it to not control large army anyway, because it's going to be micromanaging nightmare (and possibly a lot of lag if you don't). The battle could last for an hour, and when it ends you'll realize you need to do the same 3 more times, and only to deal with the first invasion. Are you having fun yet, smartasses? After dealing with the first invasion you (not you personally, because you struggle with elementary math) realize that to defeat the final invasion you need to fight 8 1-hour long battles. And some enemies would flee and not be destroyed in one battle, so easily make it 12. At this point you quit the game and start a new campaign, turning chaos off entirely, because you're sick of this bullshit. Hello, I'm here to think so you don't have to.

    Puppets and Servants of Chaos spawn only when Archaon arrives for some factions (the Old World ones I think), I played Wurrzag lately (without the new Elves DLC) and they also didn't spawn on the initial wave, had to wait for the End Times to come.

    Idea- spawning of one or two stacks of beastmen around the map near loreful forest areas. Some chaos armies spawning at areas where chaos would/ could be found. I rekon it'd be minimalist and a nice fix.

    How do you get Kolek to spawn leading an enemy choas army? I have the dlc but I never see any enemy dragon ogre units or kolek... do I have to install a mod for this??

    The 2 maruder factions only showed up with the main invasion unless it was moded to show up sooner

    I really hate how instead of CA making AI good or coming up with other things for difficulty all they do is just throw more enemies at you

    Much more boring and lazy indeed, just shit out more units.. I dislike it. To be fair, the whole mechanic is hard to make fun and I have no idea what would make it good really. Biggest problem is likely that the invasion gains strenght and with every army they lose, they weaken unlike you who can rebuild easily. Maybe the army of chaos should weaken again, but gain mechanic to.. capture settlements for Norsca, or make portals where armies eventually spawn .. I dont know.

    There was a mod that would spawn in Portals when chaos destroys towns/city's and then there was a change that every turn they could spawn in a army. So you could get a snowball effect.

    It could be more interesting when demons get introduced. You could fight an army of nurgle once and an army o khorne latter etc

    i always hated when i was playing wide and got chaos all ower the world ... so can you please try to go wide and see what happends ?? if you get 12x3 chaos armies or if they just split up or if there are any new spawn locations ? thanks

    We know that Chaos has a few strongholds like the Brass Keep, and had portals across all continents. Perhaps having them spawn in those critical locations and having the armies invade from the north would work?

    This definitely feels like it's gonna screw up the balence of the game entirely. Especially for the Dark Elf vs High Elf match up. Basically playing as any faction you can now decide whether you want Malekith to succeed in taking Ulthuan or not. If it's Legendary Chaos will screw him up and the High Elves win, if you turn it off, Naggarond along with the Cult of Pleasure has a really solid chance to kill off all the High Elves. Legend said it best: Feels like a really lazy way to "buff" them. I don't want cheap difficulty, I want mechanically interesting difficulty.

    @@monochromaticspider More than 2 armies? "You want to fight with "balanced" armies against all that nonsense" I probably wouldn't put it on legendary chaos invasion. If I did, then yes that is what I would expect as it's supposed to be a big slugfest with the chaos god's best.

    you could make it so chaos armies are not that numerous,but they are immune to lightning strike you could also,on legendary chaos invasion difficulty,give norsca free armies and have them charge south if they aren`t wiped out and you could also have beastmen armies spawn randomly throughout the old world and have them attack your weaker settlements

    There should be beastmen stacks spawning on the southern edge of the map. Also they should have a mechanic where capturing/razing a major city creates a Chaos portal that'll spawn new armies, otherwise it's just more grind without any incentive towards helping other factions deal with them.

    He's playing legendary/legendary difficulty. At this level, the game should be challenging no matter how good you are. That's the whole point of difficulties.

    Yeah I’m not really understanding your point. It’s legend. He’s is the master of cheese and obviously this needed to be cheesed. In a perfect world the AI would just be made smarter but that seems to be impossible so CA just gives them tons of cheats to try and balance player skill with dumb AI. Cheese is the outcome. I mean it’s all about efficiency. Why use weaker units that have almost no damage output like masses of infantry. It only makes sense to use more ranged bc duh I want to win and not lose half my army every battle. The AI gets tons of money cheats and army cheats and vision cheats. Playing cautious and using the most efficient units and tactics like lightning strike only makes sense.

    @@davidring681 my point is: why to put on thumbnail "more chaos pls" and why to criticize the difficulty? For me, it looks like he did never played other Total War titles. Ok, hes the grandmaster in this game, but why is he playing the easiest race and complain about it being super easy? Makes no sense. Instead, show me Skarsnik campainn on legendary in turn 110, w/o AI cheese. Till then, this is just boring.

    Slim Jim he has played all total war titles I think. He was a mater at med 2 aswell. He already had a campaign going that he could demonstrate the new mechanics. Yes skaven are good but as long as you get your ambush high and have lightning strike it doesn’t really matter what faction you play. I just beat chaos with Nakai. And only 2 stacks one of which was all skinks. I just ambushed and used my settlements as shields and that was it. It was wayyyyy to Easy. The Oder tide didn’t even come. No help from any other factions and I still dominated them. Yes this was on the old chaos system but still I was playing as one of the worst factions. By the time chaos shows up you should be able to spam tier 3 or tier 4 armies no problem. Even if it’s only like 4 or 5 of these epic armies. That’s usually more then enough to beat chaos. The farthest they have ever gotten in my campaigns is kislev. That’s it lol. The order tide usually kicks the crap out of them before I can even get their to help and this new mechanic doesn’t seem that better. It might hurt the AI more but I bet they still don’t make it that far. The AI with settlements just spawn more armies if they die and chaos doesn’t soo it’s a losing battle no matter what

    Don't we all know that CA is unable to do good, challenging AI? Their approach was always to let the AI cheat and let them have more units instead of doing something challenging or even clever or maybe just balance the game.

    I think its a good change. If they added some features on top of that it would be great. For example chaos should gain an army for every x settlements razed. And when they are destroyed restore razed settlements to starting or last faction that had them.
