EBC! Did this trek in Oct 2019. Amazing mountains. They just never seem to end. Was a life long dream for me. Can’t wait to get back to Nepal to see more.

You are absolutely right when you say that just to be able to see Everest once justifies a trip to Nepal and the effort of a trek. It was the same for me when I climbed Mera Peak. You'll love the walk from Jiri! Those first few days before reaching the main tourist trail are beautiful and peaceful. Some really nice small villages and lodges there. Make sure you add Pikey peak to your route, it's a little extra but you get AMAZING views of the big peaks at sunrise, totally worth it

What an amazing experience. I really felt that....."YES...finally on my own!". It's always great when you can do your own thing at your own pace. Fantastic Kraig!

I loved how much I learned through this without being overwhelmed at all. Hike, camera, etc. all of it. But most of all I still very much enjoy the dry humor. Thanks for keeping it very real and still making sure you experience all the fun things and saying yes to what life is offering you.

I strongly recommend you go back to the Everest region and hike the Three Passes trek - this partly overlaps with the EBC trek but is less crowded (you get to do a side trip to EBC if you want) but otherwise you spend time on quieter trails and more of the trail gets you amongst real, working communities instead of trekking-oriented villages like some of those on the EBC trek. The Three Passes trek also gives you many epic views of Everest (some actually with Everest being the tallest peak on the horizon as compared to most of the views on the EBC trek where Everest looks "smaller" than surrounding peaks because it's set further back). You can totally do the Three Passes without any guides but it is a more demanding trek and you do still need to obtain all the relevant permits.

@@Moloch2024 Kongma La (18,209 ft / 5,550 m), Cho La (17,782 ft / 5,420 m), and Renjo La (17,560 ft / 5,360 m). And that's generally the recommended order in which to attempt them. Definitely not recommended as a first trek in Nepal (although people do do it as a first trek!). It's also best to plan plenty of wiggle-room time-wise to allow for weather delays, especially at the passes themselves.

As a documentary maker, backpacker and hiker myself, always finding a way to shoot nature, hiking in a good way. However, it's so hard! I think you understand what I mean, it will take 150%-200% more time to shoot a route, camera set up, drone flying takes a loooooong time! and it's not the only thing, it also need experience of preparing the lightest pack and gears, tent, cloth, food, battery and charging, organizing, discipline and physical condition etc... And I was stuck on shoot hiking because there are lots of shooting form in my mind that makes great content, and it can take so much time and effort. And when I saw the way you shoot, It solve all problems, I can see how you minimize the shooting time with the best result, and it tells the story! Your videos totally inspire me to resume my undone hiking project, and it will be shot next week. Thanks again for the videos, saw some of your route that i hike before reminds me the good times also. Next time if you come to Hong Kong, Iet me show you some of the hidden, special and beautiful Hiking route. Peace!

I went in 2017 - i'm 49 years old and when I was a kid EVEREST was a place that EXPLORERS went to and always held a certain mystique. To be there was just the most amazing experience The trek is tough in places. the altitude certainly affects to like nothing else. The food can get monotonous. it lacks texture more than anything. I said I would never go back but 18 months later I summited Mera Peak at 6461m (21,198ft). I plan to go higher to 7000m in 2022 and in 2023i aim for an 8000m peak (Mansalu). I highly recommend EBC too. it just gives you a feeling that is really hard to describe. (prayer wheels is the word you were looking for)

I went to Argentina in January this year - summit of Aconcagua was the aim - unfortunately I only got to Camp 2 at about 5500m - the wind and uncertainty of when it would abate meant I came down without summiting ( i'd acclimatised so well - no sickness no headaches ) its a tough place to go !

Truly liked both video’s and yes Nepal is amazing. We have done the Annapurna trek, quite some years ago, still one of my favorite hikes.

Not your usual stuff obviously and saw you tried to get away from the group to give the solo vibe which is a plus, you gave me a good laugh when you complained about being too old for the travelling. Try 3 connections and 40 hours plus in planes n buses (door to door) at 50 years of age for my last big trip. I do it again tomorrow as this pandemic just refocused how great it is to travel even with the headaches that go with silly layovers. Keep up the great work 💪💪

I ate Dahl Bat every day on my Annapurna circuit hike. There is enough vartiation in how it's prepared to keep it interesting. And you are correct when you say that it is a perfect balance of everything you need while trekking. I hope to get back to do the EBC trek some day. By the way, I did Annapurna at age 55 so you aren't getting to old to world travel quite yet. ;-)

Hello Kraig. Huge fan from Nepal and really enjoyed the everest and mardi video as well. You should really do the manaslu circuit if you plan to visit nepal again. The diversity of landscape and the views of mountains that manaslu offers is unmatched. Well whichever trek you plan to do can’t wait to see you here again.

The drone shots look just like the cinematic screen saver videos for Apple TV. Amazing! Highly recommended to watch on a big screen TV.

I like to go in winter January time. Not many tourists and the mountains are draped in there winter coat. Crisp and clear views. Cold nights tho.

Nice breakdown, thank you. Manaslu is a fantastic trek. It's more calm and not as touristy. Annapurna is great as well, the view after you cross the pass and can see glimpses of Mustang when you hike down to Muktinath is just mindblowing. It's more crowded though and I think they have a road now (or are working on it). Anyway your new homies probably told you already all about it 😃🇳🇵

I did the Everest trek from Lamosangu in 1974, just after it opened. You can still do a long trek from Jiri which is about 4 days in from Lamosangu. For directions, we had an old dyeline map which was very basic but you got by asking people the way. We got robbed at Lamjura Pass and later attacked by dogs plus we got lost a few times, once for 2 days in a canyon during which we ran out of food but nothing serious. Pheriche consisted of one mud brick hut, half buried in the permafrost and Gorak Shep did not exist. Unfortunately, I'm getting too old for trekking but it remains a lifetime highlight.

Wow, Mingma David Sherpa? I'm watching a documentary on him along with a Nepalese team in 2019 that climbed all of the 8000m + peaks in a single climbing season .... mind blown.

Hi Kraig. I am Walter and following your treks . Because i am a trekker as well. Verry good. I did this tour also in 2018 but different. First we did the Renjo La 5360 mtr en the Cho la 5420 mtr. This by far the most beautiful trek but its heavy. If you have the possibility do this trek you can do it easily with your skills. The views are stunning and much better than the strait tour to Base Camp. And to be specific...ii was at that time 69 years old ...but very well trained. Good luck man. See you next treks on the channel. An other tip...go trekking the Frozen River in Nortern India in Ladakh....that is for the realy hard guys...

yea totally you should do Manaslu Circuit, I guess it's your vibe, I did it in September (I was the first tourist of the season and it was an amazing and very raw experience)
