Thompson River Trout & Photography Road Trip

Return to the Thompson
The Thompson River has always felt like a home away from home especially in the fall during steelhead season.
These days the river remains closed from the end of September through the end of April to protect the last remaining steelhead that attempt to spawn in the Thompson’s tributary’s.
However in the summer the Thompson has always been known for a large rainbow trout population. These rainbow trout are known to eat large adult stonefly straight from the surface!
In other words the flyfishing can be spectacular!

Aaron. Nice photo montage of a BC and steelhead historical destination. Frank and I did it two years ago and enjoyed it too. BTW, glad to see one of those old three bearing Loop reels in use on some lovely Thompson River trout. These are great snapshots of the fishing history of our Province. Joseph

Death by a thousand cuts . DFO has destroyed the greatest steelhead in North America along with the communities along its banks. The new generation of steelheaders have no idea what we have lost.😩😩

It’s true, I grew up fishing the Thompson for Steelhead. It’s truly the most magnificent place to fish and the most amazing species. It’s an incredible shame we have lost this fishery. Thanks for your comment!

A Moby net? The Log Cabin Pub, did it say under new ownership and would open soon?

It’s a Rushton Net, the pub was closed, no note on the door but I believe it is under new ownership.
