Bridge Fly Fishing - Spey Casting - The Lift

Спорт

Shot for Bridge Outfitting last year as the fist of manny tutorial videos. The idea is to bring free education to the Bridge Brand. We hope to showcase Spey Casting in a unique way as well as giving helpful advice on Spey Casting techniques.

Glad to find your channel, Aaron, and to re-watch this lesson. I watched it and worked on it with Tim on the water and still find myself needing to be reminded to slow down and keep the tension even. Hope y'alls amazing-looking trip went or is still going well! See you at the shop!

i only started salmon fishing 2 seasons ago and this coming season will be my 3rd, during my early days i was lifting far too quickly and not bringing my anchor back far enough and then trying to recover the cast by pushing it out, after some welcome advice from an old guy watching me he told me slow down the lift and on the forward cast stop the rod abruptly, it was amazing how much difference this made to my cast, once i fine tuned some things it was a pleasure casting! before maybe 2 casts out of 6 were good then when i did get a good one i could'nt figure out what i had done? i also watched dozens of youtube videos and put in hours of practice and now my casting is consistent cast after cast thanks to guys like you and your videos, many thanks 👍 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It looks like you're casting either a Tributary or Mainstem. Can one fish a 10 foot sink tip on either?

  • @AaronGoodis

Yes both the Tributary and Mainstem are used in the video! Both are full floating lines so we don’t recommend putting a full on sink tip on the end. They do manage well with polyleaders. The Winter Tide is designed for sink tips. Thanks for the view and comment!

Yes, the lift is critical. I screw up on the turn. Please do a piece on the turn.
