Really? Because Tesla disagreed. He wrote consistently that Edison was a great man. And that he kind of wished he never had formal schooling like Edison. The rivalry you hear about is just a story someone invented to sell an image of Tesla. In actually they meet maybe once and got along well.

Steve Jobs couldn't hold a candle to Edison. Imagine someone not only inventing the computer hardware, but the software, screen, keyboard and the internet. That was Edison inventing everything that went with the light bulb, records and movies.

No, Edison had proven his ideas worked and he hired people to test and make them better. The world's first science lab was Genius and that was his idea. Tesla could produce power, but Edison gave us lights and entertainment.

indeed because what I am understanding and may be wrong about is Thomas Edison came in the United States where as Tesla was a European and for them to know of each other in a time of limited communication is almost a certainty so maybe there was an energy wave of invention and intelligence which happens from time to time and both were active in their pursuit of creation without knowledge of one to the other for it seems as if they would have both benefited from the work sacrifices and creativity of one to the other just my thoughts.

Why is everyone Tesla, and how Edison allegedly “stole” from him? Edison and Tesla were both great inventors, Edisons means of *discrediting* Tesla weren’t great, but he never directly “stole” anything from Tesla. Edison’s genius was taking a new technology that someone else had pioneered and developing a superior way of doing the same thing, he never took credit for it.

There is no utility in slandering the mans name. He may have made mistakes, but overall he aimed to lift humanity upward. He devoted his life to the acceleration of technological advancement. The legacy he left humanity far outweighs his wrongdoings.

What he did to Nikola Tesla by conning him to make the electric motor work, Eddie didn't have a clue & told Tesla if you do it, you get $50,000 bonus well the electric motor was born & what did Mr. ED do, laughed at Tesla & said , welcome to America. Tesla got em back it's called alternating current & gave 18 patents free to Westinghouse. This tells a lot about Edison. G F Thank you so much for the support, it’s so very kind and not something I get often anymore! I’m very grateful! It breaks my heart to know what Edison did to Topsey and the other animals. It’s pure evil! All of that to ruin a man who was a better inventor. Most people only recently learned of Tesla, that’s how badly Edison destroyed him. I knew about Tesla since he’s from the same area as me, Croatia. I live in the USA now. I’m sure you know G F, but for others who do not: It’s very common in the scientific community for the lead scientist to get credit for a discovery, even though it was made by a less known or seasoned scientist in the group. It even goes on today unfortunately. So Edison was really just good at copying and sending the invention to the patent office and had the $ to fight any lawsuits. That’s just the way it goes sometimes. Look at the show shark tank, the name is correct indeed!

Wireless electricity is impossible to modern physics. I agree that Tesla's vision is great, but it is impossible. Also, i respect both inventors. Edison improves, not steal. Otherwise you gotta accuse any scientist who improved existing designs as thieves. Like James Watt vs Newcomen or something.

Cut your electric cords and remove all switches, fuses, lights and wiring from your home and business. Then throw out all recorded music, words, movies and shows. Those were just a few of Edison's inventions. The Science labs used by universities and businesses originated with Edison too.

If you think Edison was bad, you should have been with Alexander the great when you wanted to go home after hundreds of battles. He killed those who tried. Edison was the genius of the 19th century and of all centuries prior to his birth.
