Thomas Dillon : The Roadside Sniper
Thomas Lee Dillon had a normal life with a job and a family, but he didn't like life, so he pretended to be other people. A sports star, a singer, the president, and even a killer.

My father and I hunted in SE Ohio when Dillon was active. It was a weird feeling to be hunting whilst also possibly being hunted. I remember thinking, “this couldn’t possibly happen to me” while also thinking that perhaps his victims had this same thought.

Yes!!! Content that sensationalizes these stories like a tabloid leave such an awful taste. This guy does a great job at showing reverence and respect while also appropriately taking these monsters to task.
Stephen King wrote a character like this in his story “Apt Pupil”; the character used to do the exact same thing where he would sit on a hill and watch cars through his sniper scope and pretend to shoot but one day he eventually did so and went on a spree and beforehand often had killed animals, I wonder if it’s just coincidence or maybe Thomas had inspiration 💭

I highly doubt it. People like this kill because it makes them feel powerful and they simply enjoy the act of taking someone's life, not because they heard or read about it and think it sounds fun. He imagined himself to be some strong, powerful, influential person who was basically above everyone- a sociopath with delusions of grandeur. In fact, I'd bet that he never read Different Seasons, or much of anything at all as far as literature. Especially fiction. He'd be busy "writing" his own story, which would of course star himself. He would always be the main character- anyone else who existed around him, including his wife and kids, would likely only matter in how he related to and interacted with them. He would see it as a waste of time to spend his time reading what someone else imagined and wrote because it would never be as good as his own story/life in his mind.
I had to use the 1-800 number for DV victims just the other day ... A friend of mine needed help and I immediately thought of how you always include that info at the end of every video so after quickly running thru one of ur older vids and grabbing the number, thankfully she was able to escape that situation and is slowly recovering both mentally and emotionally as well as physically and financially... Thank you for that Giles...💙 I don't know if any of ur viewers have ever had to utilize that info but I do know 100% that you saved my friends life that night 🙏🤝

11:16 "never provided detectives a satisfying answer". "He said he killed bc he wanted to" That is the answer, doesn't matter if detectives feel a sense of satisfaction or not. They don't think like a killer so may just not understand a real answer when they hear it.

Yep. Some people are what they are and do what they do "just because." Plenty of people do horrible things without any reasons or motivations beyond simply wanting to do so. They put no more thought into it than they do into choosing which soda to get from the vending machine. That might frustrate people who want to find some deep cause that helps it make sense to themselves, but there's not always any sense to be found and especially not when the perp is mentally screwed up.
@NickyBlue99
Жыл бұрын
Exactly, some people just do evil deeds because they can. There's no deeper reason or meaning. There's no "trauma" or deep pathological reason that they're trying to deal with, which causes them to kill others. Some people just do evil deeds because they want to. Not everything is extremely deep or a mystery wrapped in an enigma. I guess that can frustrate some people because they've been conditioned by TV shows like criminal minds or whatever other crime dramas are on TV to believe that all criminals like this guy have some deep backstory and trauma or psychological problem that caused them to kill. Or that every killer is some sort of complex psychological puzzle that needs to be solved with terms like "narcissism"/"psychopathy"/"sociopathy"/etc.
You have the best voice overs!! Thanks for being great to listen to!❤💐

The greatest t-shirt from the greatest band's greatest album. This man knows.
If you ever do an unsolved story, I’ve got one for you. Near Byesville, Ohio, there was a murder in the 80’s or early 90’s of an elderly man named Potts. Years later on the same date, someone came back and killed his elderly wife in the same house. It’s always lived rent-free in my head, but I’ve never heard about it being resolved. A screwdriver was the weapon of choice, if my memory serves correct.
Great work! Appreciate your efforts! Oh, you have a nice voice to listen to.
