How would this work with a PAL Xbox as the highest this goes is 480i or if true 576i. 576i would be enough for the purpose I need it for but I think this is false.

Thanks you for offering this kind of product on your store. I visited it today and commanded mine. As a video games player I wanna discover the first Xbox games catalog but the rendering was awful with the original cable, even on a CRT (Kingdom under fire for exemple). Can't wait to receive it and try it on a HD television. It will enable me to discover all the firtst Xbox exclusivities. So just ... "un grand merci" from France :)

I have an issue with your adapter. It has really low sound! What could be the problem?

I just received my unit in the mail last weekend and have enjoyed it so far! No stress or strain on the port from the HDMI cable being connected to the adapter. I have the Monster component cables and a RetroTink 5X, but this is far more convenient and I always fear the ridiculously tight fit of the Monster plugs will break the 5X.

Awesome! I'm glad you dig it too. Agreed, it's an ideal fit into the A/V port on the back of the OG. Won't need a strain relief stand under it or anything like that. I have the TINK 5X also, and I love it. But for the OG, this sure does make for a value-priced, value packed option.

I have been screaming from the hilltops for someone to endorse this! Geez! Been using it for years, works great and is a great price especially compared to others that require opening and soldering.

Agreed! I really like it. I tried to focus as objectively as possible on what I got from it, as there are many passionate people about getting the absolute max performance out of video quality (which I dig). I think, for the price, this is a banger. It just makes getting quality, unmolested video out of the OG simple, and that's always a good thing.

I would mention it on some videos and sadly it was ignored because the video was likely sponsored by the product manufacturer. But for me, this is across the board the best option out there. It should also be noted that they run out of stock OFTEN. So if you’re on the fence, pull the trigger ASAP or you may be waiting a while.

I saw this video and bought it. I kind of had buyers remorse, but then it got delivered today. Wow I am so glad I got this thing. No lag, I'm playing street fighter games and it feels really nice.

Yep, that's the best HDMI adapter that I have used. Much better than the "Pound" style that also need a USB power source. And you get 5.1 digital sound which you don't with the others.

Got mine the other day! Love it so far, looks like I’m playing on a 360 in game and the sound output is better than ever!! Only issue I’ve had is some visual noise in a few pre-rendered cutscenes but that could be due to the rip of the game or file compression. Shout out Electron Shepherd!

Looks like a neat and cost-effective solution but I always worry that these types of adaptor can put too much strain on the console's AV port. The one I got for my GameCube came with a 3D printed support bracket

I get that. Don't worry; it fits extremely well into the A/V port and provides no significant strain there. It's lightweight and sturdy at the same time also.

Personally I use the Kaico adapter on Amazon. I get a great picture with it, and it’s not just a block in the back of the console it’s more of a cabled dongle so it doesn’t force my Xbox to sit way far forward in my entertainment center. Also I noticed you didn’t use any 480p 16:9 games with this. Those games are anamorphic wide screen, and you will have to choose your aspect ratio on your TV to fill that in. Something like Dead or Alive 3 is a great example. It’s not a flaw though, as you pointed out these take component video and pass it to HDMI so it is supposed to work this way.

Awesome! I dig it. I like when things get made simple and efffective. It'll be my go-to for the OG moving forward.

Curious how this compairs to XBOX component cables going into a Retrotink 5X.

I have an HDMI converter for the Xbox but I may get this one. The one I have is one of those that require external power. I haven't touched my Xbox in a while though since I softmodded it.

I like this adapter a lot. I have one of those externally powered ones too. This one does a great job, is convenient, and fits in the A/V port so nicely. Great value and honest price.

Purchased mine this morning

Received mine this week. I just wish that it would work on a 5 port HDMI switch.

Now, if I designed such a thing, I would design it so that it didn't stick out at the back. I would have the unit running with its body sitting flush in the recess, or have a short pigtail. Adding extra depth to the unit is not ideal when the unit is deep as it is. That said, it's a great piece of kit..Great video :)

My only question is how is the response time when you hit the controller to when you move your character on the tv/monitor.

How is this compared to the Pound HDMI cable? I'm currently using that one and on larger displays, white text on dark backgrounds looks a little... swimmy. Like the kind of distortion that makes them look like they're in turbulent water.

Imagine combining the Xbox2HDMI with the upcoming Retrotink 4K, that would be interesting

You can use these with a mclassic to upscale. I do the same with my wii 2 hdmi adapter

I have a similar adapter for our wii - works perfectly :-)

One game that supports 1080i on the original Xbox is Enter The Matrix. I don't know any other game that supprts that resolution though. Most games are either 480p or 720p. Anyway I just purchased one of these HDMI converters for myself so I can't wait to get it. Some people such as Tito of Macho Nacho Productions actually installed an HDMI socket to his original Xbox but soldering isn't my forté so I avoided those types of mods. I also have an HDMI converter for my Nintendo Wii. Unfortunately that console is not an HD console so it only supported 480i or 480p so games don't look all that great compared to how they would look on a CRT monitor.

Atari Anthology has 1080i support, for what it's worth.

Only thing holding me back from this is the lack of an optical audio port.

I just got today my Xbox that I bought for 50USD. And the offer had along with console HDMI adapter and 7 games. Never had one before and decided to get it since I'm getting tired of all those AAA „super realistic graphic” games. And also to play JSRF the original way instead of using CXBX emulator. Maybe later I'll also get some classics like Spider-Man 2, Getting Up, THAW, etc.

1:15 my video settings only have normal, letterbox, or widescreen as options. Will that change when I plug in the hdmi?

yes. get the one from Electron Shepherd. No color bleeding proper signal conversion and supporting a local creator.

Sure does! From their official site: "This module efficiently supports the 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i resolutions that are default to the original Xbox. This module is able to support all of the following resolutions although they are not all achievable outputs from the original Xbox: 480i/p, 576i/p, 720p25/30/50/60, 1080i50/60, 1080p24/25/30/50/60. "

I use the HDMI Adapter from Kaico. No issues came for me

So this will make my original xbox look better on my new HDTV? As of now I have a hdmi converter thing i bought at Walmart. It works to play, but it looks awful, and blurred. Bad actually.

I wonder which would be better: this one or the Xedusa? Hmmmmmmm…… I need one or the other so I can play my original Xbox for my show. Decisions, decisions…

Xedusa is more expensive and according to RetroRGB doesn't get as bright as the Chimeric or Xbox2HDMI

I have another Xbox hdmi adapter from Chimeric, but my Sony Bravia TV is unable to get a stable signal. Halo for instance keeps blacking out. This same adapter however works flawlessly on a non-Sony TV. Got any advice or suggestions what could be wrong, considering I have a Sony Bravia like you?

Hmm. Not sure, but it sounds like an HDMI handshake issue, maybe? I have a nutty signal chain going to my Bravia TV for making KZread videos. Console through HDMI switcher through Elgato to TV. I can at least confidently say that this specific adapter performed admirably with this setup. Do you have anything in your HDMI signal chain other than the Xbox itself and the adapter to the TV? Might be worth a look into.

Same thing happened to me with my Xbox 1.2 and Chimeric adaptor connected to my X950G. Switched to the Xbox2HDMI and have had no issues

It's doesn't have black crush / black raise issues like I've had with my 3 chimeric adaptors. This is definitely superior
