Chimeric's HDMI adapter for OG Xbox - 2 years later (Final thoughts)

I've noticed the Chimeric system HDMI adapter for the OG Xbox was still out of stock so i thought it would be the perfect time to make another video about it.
Unfortunately due to issues with my Xbox with analog video, i've decided to sell this and get myself an XboxHD+ (along with OpenXenium).
What do i think of it ? If your xbox has no issues over component, this is still the best plug and play adapter that you can get for your original xbox.
However in that case, you may be perfectly happy with the bitfunx/kaico adapters if you are on a strict budget as they are definitively not as bad as the Pound cable and more available.
XboxHD+ also surpasses it when it comes to video quality but it's also much more difficult to actually install. So this is totally up to you.

Yeah it's not worth it anymore. I recommend people now to just get the bitfunx's adapter or go XboxHDMI
I have the original Xbox component adapter and the quality isn't bad at all, maybe it's not Dreamscast RGB levels of good but I wouldn't call it bad. The only issue is that high-end modern TVs don't have composite/component inputs anymore but again, I have one with those ports and still isn't difficult to get a TV with those ports. Of course if you have the original component adaptor and you use cheap un-shielded cables you will get a bad quality picture because that's the nature of analog signals. I got decent shielded AV cables (not even gold plated) and I get good quality video out of my OG Xbox.

Yeah the original component adapter is pretty good but the issue with it is that it's being scalped .(albeit, not to the extent of the original gamecube cables) But i hope to upgrade to get the next XboxHDMI+ internal mod at some point. (too bad it requires some notsoeasy soldering)

Is bitfunx better? Why are you recommending it? Just curious

Well according to other reports (and screenshots that people showed me), it appears to perform on par or better, although it's still not as good as XboxHDMI+. My recommendation is to just go with the bitfunx if you need a Plug and play solution as currently this adapter is pretty unobtainium.

do you have a v1.6 xbox it has issues with alot of 480p games. my chamaric is PERFECT it looks better than any of my retro consoles with this adapter I would NOT do a hdmi mod on your console might also carry the issue over

No, it's a 1.2. The 480p issue on 1.6 xboxes is completely different from the analog noise that 1.2 get. 1.6 xboxes in general have decent analog output but the 480p issue means some games won't work unless you use a custom kernel, XboxHDMI or a dashboard that patches the games.

@@gameblabla my 1.1 just started blacking out for 1 to 2 sec randomly after moving it but my newer one without the controller PCB is fine still

@@gameblabla Idk I heard reports & faq sheets that 1.6 has 480p games that only desplay in 480i check checkitout & "everything ive learned about xbox" they both state its 1.6

@@JLMtime Yeah that's the Excalibur chip (1.6 only) 480p bug and it's well known. (also applies to some games/hacks at 720p) This is not related to that. If you have a 1.6 xbox, there are kernel and dashboard patches for that.
