Cindy Wilson sings "Give Me Back My Man" by herself as the lead vocalist in her growl while the rest of the B-52s plays and dances. But you won't recognize the sound on Give Me Back My Man compared to this Roam song because it's their early stuff from decades ago in a different style. Still with quirky lyrics though as you'd expect from the B-52s.

My wife and I "roamed" around Europe a few times when we were first married in the '90s, and this was one of our jokey songs on those trips. It's a happy, upbeat song, but it brings tears to my eyes because it reminds me so much of her, who twenty years later we lost to cancer in only her 40s. It's a bittersweet song, but I still come back and listen to it every once in a while just to remember those times.

The B-52's took over where ABBA left off with the girls being lead vocals. This my favorite song by them and came while i was stationed in Then West Germany in the US ARMY 1988-1991. Each time i hear it, it brings back memories of those 2 years in West Germany. So much fun, and had the hots for Cindy so cute. Funny story when i heard this song for the first time i told 2 of my buddies, "Have you heard this New group The B-52's?" On of them said dude they've been around since 1979. Oh. I felt so stupid as i hadn't heard of them before 1989. Gosh i miss those days, can i go back.?

B-52s are very important and it's good that you finally got to this one! If you like Kate Pierson's (the non-blonde) voice you may want to check out a duet that she did with Iggy Pop called Candy. Their voices compliment one another well. You reacted to Iggy's "The Passenger" some time ago (one of my favorite songs by any artist), so it wouldn't be a new group at all but maybe honorable mention for being a new pairing?

I'm not sure what amuses me more here. The song's been up about 1/2 hour and no one's mentioned that the song is totally and completely about coitus, or that you missed it completely as well. (There, I kept it as clean as I can.) "Take it hip to hip, rocket through the wilderness" is one of the many and incredible and hilarious double-entendres--the song is full of them. Love the B-52s for how they pulled this one off.

J & Amber, we (my wife and I) love your channels. I think Roam is one of B-52’s more “radio friendly/popular with the masses. Since you both loved this song, I personally believe you both would really love the B52’s song “Topaz”. It’s just as really poppy and radio friendly as Roam, but is a lesser known (to the mass public) songs . Keep doing what you do and have a Merry Christmas!

This band is one of my all time favorites. Cindy Wilson especially is an amazing vocalist. Her voice has so much character and power. Her solo vocal songs for the B-52s is some of the best music ever. If you're looking for another great track try "Give Me Back My Man". Cindy really gets to shine there and it's amazing... and also weird haha.

Agreed! I've favored Kate for many years, but Cindy's talents have grown on me over the years, thanks to KZread. First of all, her presence was missed during the "Good Stuff" album. It was good, but I think it would have been better had Cindy been there... though I don't fault her at all for wanting to take time off after Ricky's death. Anyway, I've watched recent videos of her, and she has a lot more control and depth in her voice than she did in the early years. While the B-52s wouldn't be where they are without Kate, and while I can't imagine the band without her (there would be no B-52s without Kate!), I actually prefer Cindy's voice, now that I've heard more of it.

You want more "fun" B-52s, you gotta hear "Good Stuff". It's bright and peppy and really upbeat... without (most of) that Rock Lobster weirdness. :) Gotta admit, Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson are quite unlike any other lead-singer duo you've ever heard... and then when you add Fred Schneider into the mix... BOOM.

Roam is a great introduction to the Bs before you get smacked in the head with Rock Lobster. There are a couple of songs of theirs that just have the girls singing and no Fred. Most of the songs that have Fred in there will be a bit quirkier sounding. Partially because that is just who they are, partially because the whole call and response of the three vocalists together just automatically gives it a quirky flavor. You really need to stick with this band. This song was more of a mainstream, radio friendly sound, like Love shack, but if you want to hear the girls singing on one of those monster dance tracks of theirs, I recommend Cake. The girls have phenomenal voices. I’ve seen the B-52s live more times than I can count and man, when they opened their mouths, you felt it in your soul. They are LOUD and powerful and clear as bells.
