They should really do some Belinda Carlisle's solo work. Stuff like "Mad About You," "Heaven is a Place on Earth," "Leave a Light On" and "I Get Weak." I think she was actually bigger as a solo artist than she was in the Go-Gos

In the 90s, they invited my 5yr old son (who’s autistic & loved their music) backstage to meet them. They were all SO nice, took pictures with him, signed his shirt etc. He asked Jane & Belinda what roads they took to get to Phoenix, and where they were going next, and when they said “Vegas” he gave them directions. They loved that. 😂❤️

Sorry I'm going to have to contest that statement. The "quintessential summer song" of the 80's HAS to be, "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama! Not even a person favorite of mine but, that song was EVERYWHERE back then. Which makes for a nice little tie in to the song "Our Lips are Sealed" by Fun Boy 3. Both bands covered it with the Go-Go's recording it 1st & Bananarama sang back up for FB3. Also Jane Wiedlin was having a secret affair with the lead singer of FB3, Terry Hall. If you listen to the lyrics carefully you can hear what they're going through while they dated. Another fun fact Jane was a Dominatrix for a number of years. Not sure if she is still. When ever I hear her voice, I chuckle and think; Wow, she's a Dominatrix?! 🤭🤭

The Go-Go's were very early 80s and they were gone by 85. They started out as a punk band but didn't get far. Then they went and made "Our Lips Are Sealed" and they began their skyrocket careers. They were so huge! I think the studio tried to keep them doing bubble-gum type music and that's what broke them up along w drugs and infighting about who gets what credit and money. Some of the best Go-Go's songs were on that first album "Beauty and the Beat" but not released as singles like "This Town", "Tonite", "Fading Fast", and "Automatic"

You mentioned that you didn't appreciate the keyboard player on the last song and that is because she was playing lead guitar on that song. Yes, this is the only Go-Go's song I can think of where there is really any significant keyboard. Charlotte is usually on lead guitar. Back around 2009 I finally saw them play live, after being a fan of theirs since the early 80s, and being in the presence of Charlotte playing that piano on "Head Over Heels" definitely ticked an item off my musical bucket list. It was a great show, but unfortunately it was during the period when Kathy wasn't in the band, so I still haven't seen the classic lineup.

Gina is definitely a powerhouse on drums. When you see them live, it's hard not to watch her. And on songs like "Get Up and Go" and especially "Beatnik Beach," the drumming is just insane. She and Kathy Valentine are IMO one of the tightest, most muscular, and (sadly) most underrated rhythm sections in rock history, and "Head Over Heels" distills that perfectly.

Rick Wakeman is known as one of the greatest keyboardists in Rock history and he played mostly with the great band, Yes. He is a master of the piano, synthesizer, organ, harpsichord, you name it. Rick is in the Hall of Fame with Yes. It's time for a long song by Yes. I keep asking for "Roundabout," which is a well-known classic from the '70s, but perhaps you should react to "Awaken" which is long but doesn't feel like it, has majestic music, great piano and will leave you speechless.
